Delectable lunch, the seafood salad was everything we had hoped it would be period large chunks of crab, scallops, shrimp, all the seafood was tender and succulent. We had fond memories of this place 39 years ago. It was fun seeing the changes that they had made and hearing the history that had transpired along the years. Our waiter was knowledgeable and very attentive, we had a delightful time. We will be back when we are in the area again.

One of my favorite restaurant s. Dine inside or out with a fantastic view. The interior is gorgeous with hanging ornaments that make you feel you are part of the ocean. The huge waterfall going upstairs is incredible. The food is always tasteful! You won t be disappointed. Their brunch is awesome also.

We hosted our rehearsal dinner here last June with our entire family of about 40 people. The staff went over & above to make our experience amazing... They worked with us on every level, & we had a great time!

Im a chef in my own right and cook meals daily for my family and friends for over 30 years, when I eat out I hit the best and like to compare to my own cuisine.. The Cannery is among the finest restaurants in this country, certainly (in my opinion) the finest on the West Coast.. you get what you pay for in all aspects of a fine dining experience, I've paid more for much less in many other restaurants.. highly recommended to anyone in the world looking for fine dining.

Beautiful restaurant-inside. We were there for dinner. Wait staff was 5 stars. The food was visually appealing but not really that good to give 5 stars. No one in my party walked away feeling like they got a $40-50 meal. The up stairs bar is awesome. They have a half price happy hour that s fun-seems to be a 30 something group and a great sushi bar.
There s a bar down stairs that seems to be frequented by a more mature or seasoned audience.

the difficult to find and ugly building hides a beautiful restaurant with great food, scenic views, and high prices. if you're picking up the bill don't let your friends blow your budget like i did.

Great food and atmosphere. Trevor the bartender was the best. What a great guy. He is truly a great asset to the restaurant. We will be back to enjoy the food and will definitely end our night at the bar with Trevor

Oh. My. Yumminess! Everything was amazing! We went fir brunch (which they have on Saturdays. Yay!!! And until 3 pm. Yay again!) I ordered the special which was prime rib eggs Benedict with chipotle hollandaise sauce. It was sooo good! The prime rib was tender and flavorful. And it was cooked exactly how I asked, which honestly doesn't usually happen at restaurants. The chipotle hollandaise sauce was just the right amount of spicy. The eggs were poached perfectly. And the potatoes were crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. It was absolutely perfect. My husband got the free sh tacos and said they were the best ones he's ever had. The friends we were with ordered the huevos rancheros and the Chilean sea bass. They both said it was very good. We had a side of bacon and the bacon was thick, yummy, and perfectly crunchy.

As an appetizer we had the Ahi Poke. I didn't taste it because I don't eat seafood (especially raw) but my husband said it was amazing. He loves sushi. And our friends don't love raw fish but they tasted it and said it was very good. We also got an appetizer that was toasted sourdough bread with feta cheese, honey, and hazelnuts on top. It was also amazing.

For dessert we ordered the caramel pudding with toffee on top and the balboa Sunday. They were both SO GOOD! I just can't even get over how yummy everything was! I will definitely be going back.

Oh, and aside from yummy food, our waitress was very nice and offered wonderful customer service.

The food and service was actually really good. If they had the same menu on both floors I think it'd be five stars. I'm vegetarian and there's just not a lot to order downstairs. The salad, cocktail, and dessert were great tho. I'd come back again. The meat eaters at my table liked their food.

The Cannery is lively and the food is good but don't go on a Friday night. You won't be able to get a seat and there's no help from the waitstaff.

You have to stand around waiting for a table to empty or ask people if they're ready to leave.
Note to the managenent: Don't put your patrons in this akward position! Get a hostess and have a sign in list!

We couldn't get seated, so left very frustrated and unhappy.

Enjoyed brunch at the Cannery. Ordered the Eggs Benedict without the bacon on it and the bottomless mimosas. My food was delicious and all the other entrees at our table looked amazing. Bottomless mimosas are a great deal at $15! The location was beautiful, the restaurant itself was beautiful. I wish there had been more vegetarian options.

Great view of the marina. Happy hour daily until 7pm. Sushi and cooked fusion food options. One disappointing factor is the the sticky rice that they use for the sushi rolls. Definitely low grade jasmine rice. Overall. Food can be improved but the ambience is nice to dine at

It would be difficult to find a place that has better service (Kevin T. is the BEST) and a better menu in the Newport/Laguna area. This place is phenomenal. Absolutely stellar craftsmanship from the kitchen. We will be back soon.

Is it just me, or did something change here? I have been to the Cannery many times over the years. Used to be 'iconic' service and food... Granted, it has been over 10 years since my last visit. Have I become jaded by living in the San Francisco bay area???
The service was impeccable as it always had been. BUT, the food was really not up to standard. The chowder was 'OK', not great. Too much large potato chunks and not enough clam.
Grilled Hawaiian prawns were good as an appetizer.
Grilled chicken breast dinner was overcooked which made it dry... too dry and tough. I'm not sure how this dish was allowed to leave the kitchen.
Tagliatelle pasta with clams was chewy, a bit dry and flavorless. Really nothing in it to give it flavor of any kind, and the texture led me to believe it had been sitting on the counter too long. I was so totally disappointed!
The Cannery is not cheap, so to pay so much for a disappointing dinner really does not sit well with me.
At this point I can only recommend coming in for appetizers and cocktails... skip the dinner.

Food is great but honestly the staff is what makes me come back. Everyone is so nice. The sushi chef was very attentive to our request. The bartenders always get us our drinks even when they are packed. Waiters are respectful and the bus boys are on it always cleaning tables. Great place!

I eat in this nice place quite a bit! This is my favorite restaurant to pass a nice evening. I go there at least once a month. The food is very tasty, the workers are polite and the rates are good. I like meeting in this restaurant over a rich meal.

Spent over 600$ and had the worst service of my life. Spoke to a manager. Nothing changed. Our server paid zero attention to us. Whenever we ordered it was attitude. What kind of restaurant treats people with that amount or disrespect and when management is involved nothing changes. I get we didn t spend 1000$ but when our bill is 600 and we can t get our water refilled without attitude it s a problem. Don t ever eat here. I ve had better white cloth service st McDonald s

Visiting the Cannery Seafood of the Pacific, was the highlight of our day in Newport Beach, while visiting from Alabama. We sat outside under the canopy and had a beautiful view of the marina as boats came and went. There was a nice breeze. My husband and I both had the clam chowder soup to start with and we savored every bite. It was delicious! I then had the crab cake that was cooked to perfection. The light crust was just perfect and between the soup and crab cake, and i was plenty full. My husband had the fish tacos - 3 fish tacos. They were delicious and he could not eat all of them. The service was fabulous and the peaceful waterfront was so relaxing. The Cannery is a must is you are visiting the area.
