Service was friendly and attentive. Food was fabulous. Beyond burger was beyond expectations. Wild mushroom salad was a delightful combination of flavors with a hint of horseradish dressing. We loved the place.
15 minutes without a menu and it was not even packed at full capacity. They watched us walking out and never stopped us to say sorry here is a menu. Waste of time squeezing into a tight space without ever recieving a glass of water. Skip this place if you do not want to waste your time.
Had the steamed dumplings, avocado blt and a slice of chocolate peanut butter pie, it was all delicious. The staff was friendly and the atmosphere was relaxing
Great service and amazing cauliflower bites ! However the SWEET POTATO PIE was awful truly upsetting. I traveld from a different state to try it and soon realized that I should have stayed home .
Casual sister to the famous Candle Cafe. Be prepared to wait in line for one of the sparse selection of tables in this long time vegan favorite. It's worth the wait. Don't be afraid to bring non-veg friends but be ready to be squeezed in like a sardine.
Great service, delicious and healthy food. Not very expensive for the area. Recommend a visit if you're in the neighborhood or need somewhere to eat after visiting museum mile
extremely popular neighborhood restaurant which feels like it belongs more in greenwich village than ues. only problem is that due to its popularity you may wait up to 30 minutes even when you have a reservation!!
I was a bit disappointed with candle cafe because I had heard great things from this vegan location. My mom was visiting from California so we went to the cafe for a bite. They have tons of options that all sound delicious and about half of the things we ordered were good, but the other half slightly disappointing. I got the empanadas that were good however fried which I wasn t expecting since baked is healthier, however they were still good. My husband got the burger which he enjoyed. The fries were actually very good. My aunt got the lasagna which was okay but I wouldn t write home about it although the presentation was beautiful. My mom got the make your own plate which you could choose four items. The cornbread was sweet but slightly dry and the Mac and cheese was made with vegan daiya cheese which was disappointing as I expected a homemade sauce. The daiya cheese is very strong and not very good in my opinion. My mom also had expected a homemade sauce but she doesn t mind daiya. The homemade seitan was flavorless. The mashed potatoes were good. The best thing was my moms chocolate peanut butter date shake! But my husband and aunt got a harvest berry juice that should have been marketed as a cucumber berry drink because the berry was very subtle and the cucumber was extremely strong, which was disappointing for my aunt. Service was decent! The staff was knowledgeable and nice sharing their opinions of different plates. Overall I d rather go to other places in NYC for vegan food but if you do decided to go, the empanandas or the burger were our top picks!
1. Amazing music. Amazing atmosphere. 2. The food is so flavorful and tasty. 3. The service was fast and the waitress was helpful, quick, and friendly. 3. The dessert I had, the lemon cake with ice cream, was the best dessert I have ever had. Best ice cream I have ever had as well.
This place will not disappoint you! Whether you are vegan or not vegan, it is a great restaurant.
I am not a vegan/vegetarian. Candle Cafe knows how to make vegetable taste good. They did an amazing job to get spices right and give you a flavorful meal. It's on the pricier side, but it's better than eating salad everyday. Worth a try if you're interested in including a vegetarian meal once in a while to your diet.
We had purchased some frozen food made by Candle Cafe that was very good. We wanted to try the restaurant. The food did not disappoint. The lasagna was very good although it had more kale than I would have liked. The flap jacks were very good. The steamed dumplings excellent. The service was good. Everything is vegan. The price was a little high, thus only 4 stars.
The food is consistently delicios!!! It is always an explosion of flavors with every bite. The staff is very responsive and accommodating. Their selections of wines is great as well. My only concern is their tables and chairs. They don't seem to match with the rest of the decor. Besides the table's metal edges, epecifically the corners can be dangerous for childre.
The service is nice and prevenant. But we expect more quality and taste for the price...it's not a fare quality / price value. We take mezze, guacamole and chef's pasta. Mezze are good but the bread is not, guacamole is average but corn chips are excellent. Chef's pasta...untasty...too many sauce. It's a nice restaurant but the bill is not really fare.
They were nice enough to let us bring our puppy inside and out of the heat. Great service, amazing staff, food is AMAZING!!!! Will be back to try actual entree items because we just popped in for cake and a juice! But regardless, loved the atmosphere here and their service!!!!
Excellent vegan option on the UES. My veg and vegan friends from out of town love it, so it's my go to when they are in town. Lots of options on the menu. I liked the Indian platter - lots of savory and spicy/sweet chutneys and curries. Naan was excellent.
Fantastic vegan restaurant ... well attended and with excellent quality ... wide choice in the menu ... to come back several times .. about 20 $ per person
I love DBNYC because is so clean! Excellent customer service food so deliciuos! I love the ambiance so much!! I enjoyed the music from the 80's and 90's .. yummy
Just awesome food and great service. Sad thing though. I lost my wedding ring when I put on a tight cuffed jacket..... Plan on going back many times.. Who knows maybe it'll pop up....
This is perhaps my favorite Vegan restaurant in NYC. The food is pretty great (try the butternut squash soup) and even though it's usually packed, the service is quick and spot-on. The prices are also quite reasonable.
Vegan AF but also very good! Going to try and change my diet up a bit for a few days. Including fasting for a few days. This was my very first step in this journey. Was very satisfied with my choices.
The drinks are okay. I was killing time with a colleague. Communication is not their strong suit, oh well - the world didnt end. However you should know going in, that one scoop becomes two, and no more coffee becomes a refill. Its okay though, youre paying for their mistakes. Welcome to mediocrity.
This was my 2nd time here and I absolutely loved it! The food was so delicious! Especially loved the dessert! The staff were very attentive and gave great recommendations. Definitely coming back !
Vegan cafe food, but with restaurant prices. The food is OK, but not good enough to make a special visit for. For example, the mixed pickles appetiser was a plate of pieces of carrot, cauliflower, etc., all of which just tasted of pickling vinegar. On the evening I went, the service was extremely slow.
Food is always delish. Little pricey but worth it for consistently fresh and tasty vegetarian dishes. Wish they opened earlier on weekends for breakfast/brunch!
I LOVED Candle 79 so this review is a comparison. I love the concept, but I don t think the space is that nice visually. It doesn t make me want to eat there. I also loved how aware candle 79 was with allergies and I can t say I would be as confident with candle cafe. They do have a great menu and I think it s great you can get a quality vegan on the upper east.
We're from Seattle. Comparison to our vegan restaurants, its okay, but they make up for it with a robust menu and great customer service. Prices are fair and located close to central park. Definitely worth trying.
Waitstaff were so sweet. Gorgeous brunette man was a waiter there, unfortunately not ours. But he did deliver our drinks which was the highlight of my night. Sesame seitan was 10/10. So was dessert. Shocked at the candlelesss ambiance.
A typical NYC style "Hole in the wall" vegan place with the must try fried cauliflower . I tried their Mexican lasagna (unusual name/combo) and loved it. It's a little cheaper than candle 79 which btw is also amazing with a fancy ambience.
I'm not vegan but I've been coming here since I was a kid- this small vegan gem on the UES is a no frills coffee shop setting where the love is poured into their food, providing protien and flavor with each menu option. Menu ranges from simple guacamole to complex setan lasagnas and tofu white bean kale wraps. The menu does change from time to time, which is nice but it's tough when you find something you love vegan wise and then they take it away!
