A fantastic day out. Teachers have a special discount. Even with a full carpark it doesn't feel busy. Make sure you leave enough time for kids to play in the new play ground. Just needs more water stations.

My favourite place in Canberra! It's on the small side, but it's really manageable to do a full circuit in a reasonable amount of time because of that. And you can get fairly close to many of the animals, which really adds to the experience!

Great location near the heart of Canberra. If you want to show the kids some animals this will do the job but don't promise them anything. Some of the layout makes seeing animals difficult and the free guide map adds little value.

What a fantastic zoo where the animals are kept in spacious, clean and attractive enclosures. Loved seeing so many up close. Was told it was a small zoo but there is definitely enough to see over a few hours.

Rhino Bistro is a Rip off, my 13 year old son ordered a serve of wedges with sour cream and sweet chilli sauce for $9.50 and came back out with a handful of wedges and the rest of the serve were another hand full of chips, have no idea why you would send out chips in the first place.

We are members of the National Zoo & Aquarium and were also charged the full price as we are intitled to a diacount, not sure what is going on but maybe teach the staff how to do there job properly.

While a bit pricey, the zoo and grounds are immaculately presented and have plenty of open space and areas to stop, rest and picnic (no problems for BYO food and drink). High quality displays and enclosures for the animals, who are obviously we'll cared for. A must see for any visitor to Canberra.

Still think this is the best Zoo in Australia (of those we've seen). Lot's of changes since we were last there, all of the good.Very large grounds so be prepared for a walk . If you're keen you can even sleep over in the lodges they have on the grounds.

The new Adventure Land playground is excellent. Love all the extensions that have been made over recent years. The grounds are really well maintained and the staff are super friendly. Great variety of animals in nicely kept enclosures.

Love the National Zoo and Aquarium. It is one of my favourite days out while in Canberra. Excellent opportunities to engage and interact with the animals. They have large enclosures and appear to be well looked after. The extension to the zoo have really opened things up. The facilities are well designed for parents with strollers and wheelchair accessible. Highly recommended activity.

Absolutely beautiful ~ Easy access for those that have disabilities or elderly. Shaded areas to walk through. Can get up close to the animals and staff happy to help with any questions. Highly recommend a visit.
Can take own food and drinks as there are shaded eating area's throughout.

We thoroughly enjoyed the zoo. We spent about 3 hours here. Exhibits were well designed with great viewing stations. Glad they gave us a map and exhibits are numbered so that you don't miss anything. Great barbecue areas and well as a lovely cafe half way round the park. Wide walkways making people using mobility devices able to access 99% of the zoo. Wear your walking shoes. Aquarium is only small, but a great add onto the park.

Overall an okay experience. The Aquarium was run down, smelly and lacked signage on what was in the tanks. The rest of the zoo was okay but many exhibits were closed for 'refurbishment'. The friendly monkeys and the too cute penguins made the trip worthwhile. Worth visiting once.

Although the price can seem a little daunting and the maps/signage are quite confusing the zoo is amazing. Take a packed lunch or use the bbqs and picnic area. If you have young children the playground at the southern end is fantastic.

Really nice faculty compared with other zoos around. Enclosures are large and animals seemed really content. A lovely place to walk around and learn. The aquarium part seemed a little old but still held some interesting specimens. Food at the Cafe near the main entrance was quite expensive. The staff that we interacted with were very friendly and helpful. An excellent place to put on your Canberra tourist itinerary.

What a waste of $45 spent on this boring zoo. The zoo lacks atmosphere and excitement. Even the animals look bored locked up in those small cages by themselves. Not worth driving 20 minutes to get there or spending more than 1 hour there. I spent 20 minutes trying to find the track back to entrance. I was going crazy as I needed to leave that dull place immediately. If you want to see a real zoo visit Taronga Zoo in Sydney 5/5.

The zoo itself is fantastic, just letting far too many people in at the moment, with everyone grouping around where the animals are and no social distancing. Was very upset with the lack of corporate responsibility.

Had a great time with 3yo granddaughter who recognises all the animals and knows what she wants to see. Now she's learning geography and more about the environment and conservation through our visits.

Seriously anyone who puts anything other than 5 stars here I just don t know what they were expecting!

Kids loved it. Lots of animals on display. Staffs friendly. Nicely laid out.

Love some fun facts for each animals too which was a nice touch.

The food could have been much better but hey I didn t go to the zoo for the food.

All in all, a great day.

I can imagine it can be extremely packed though. We went during covid and it was already quite difficult for prams to navigate.

So pro tip. Bring a small pram.
Extra pro tip. Bring food to bbq there! With some picnic blankets!
