Excellent zoo and easy to walk around. There are a lot of animals to see and due to it being winter many of them were out in the sun. The only issues are the fact that it is a really long walk around to zoo and there are no short cuts, so if you suddenly needed to leave because your toddler has a tantrum it'll be a very long walk back to the entry/exit. I was also disappointed that the Rino Cafe sold out of kids sandwich packs at 11.50am. There were no other healthy options for my toddler to eat.

We re so lucky to have such an amazing zoo in Canberra. It was a very busy day today but they had extra staff directing cars into overflow car parking. Easy enough getting in and around. The new playground is absolutely amazing. Food in the cafe was good value (we are members and hence get the discount). The only small fault I could mention, would be the arrangement at the entry. The members/pre-paid ticket and general admission lines are confusing when the lines get long. Some clearer sign posts and dividers would be handy plus possibly a staff member available to answer questions when it s such a busy day like today. Otherwise, a great resource for Canberra and a wonderful attraction for anyone from out of town.

I didnt enjoy this at all. Very dissapointing and very expensive to get in. Not worth the money. I hope it gets better once they finish the upgrades but definately not worth the money until they have finished!

A wonderful Zoo. The animals have amazing enclosures spacious, clean and healthy. All the Amimals are living in luxury..
We also booked into special zoo 20th Birthday Tour which turned out to be a highlight. Just our family we toured Jamala and the zoo over 1 1/2 hrs, Renee our guide is very knowledgeable. Meg a trainee also joined us. They both made our experience very special.

Just visited the zoo for the first time with my 2 year old son and an infant. My 2 year old son was very happy to be able to be up close to see so many of the animals. The zoo is neat and clean and tidy and plenty of animals to see. The cafe inside is a surprising change with reasonably price food and of ok quality.

Great zoo, only thing missing is elephants and chimps/gorillas - otherwise everything a youbg family could want in a zoo. Spacious, beautiful views, clean paths and facilities.

Average food and beverage options but not the place you would go for lunch anyway. Bring your own.

Nice animals in the area. All of the information is clearly executed in a information board, including if they are low risk, vulnerable or endangered. The food is average. The fish and chips is really nice. There are over sixty trails in the zoo! There is also an aquarium. This is a really nice zoo.

I went there 2 days ago and I don't recommend for Anyone to go there from today for at least another 6 months, wait 6 months before you go as they are doing renovation and only 30% or the zoo is open and 70% is closed to public access.
No Giraffe, No Zebra, No any fish, No any swimming animals, Aquarium is closed for renovation and half of the Zoo is also closed for renovation. All closed - why are you open then ?
They tend to take one person a time to show how to feed the lion through small hole in the fiberglass instead of showing to few visitors at once. They have times where the zoo staff take groups to feed animals but god knows when those times are running, is it that difficult to place the times of the tours so that people can't miss it ? its crazy or the Zoo management simply don't care about visitors
Didn't know where to Exit the zoo, its a total joke i spent half an hour searching for the Exit to be only found in the shop inside where they sell gifts, do i considered to be an animal too or stupid like a stump ? so that i go around and guess where the heck the exit is ?
I honestly think that the Zoo is CLOSING DOWN with 30% of animals on display. I feel that they have very very hard time renovating 2 areas all at once, not one area but 2 at once, is this done on purpose to keep visitors away ?

Great experience overall but the only thing i would like to see is water stations to be able to refill your own drink bottle. Its only fair that as paying customers we get free water. Just a suggestion.

I usually prefer open plain zoos but I was surprised how much space there was in this zoo. A great selection of animals too. My main complaints were the noise from the nearby motorway and we couldn't find the snow leopards making me wonder if they were even there.

Absolutely loved this place! There are plenty of animals and the zoo offers a structure to your visit. Just follow the numbers, avoid confusion and see everything it has to offer. My favourite were the pygmy marmoset at the beginning

Such an amazing zoo!!! It was a hot day but we saw so many animals walking around, you can get quite up close to them as well which was a highlight. The enclosures looked amazing & all the animals seemed happy. A must do when visiting Canberra.

Took overseas visitors. Great to have some close up time with the wallabies, emus and peacocks. And pretty close to a feeding giraffe. The rest of the animals seem well cared for and stimulated. Expensive but if it keeps the zoo expanding, then it's worth it. Want to pat a cheetah next time.

The family had a fantastic time at the National Zoo and Aquarium. Plenty of shade along the paths and picnic areas. The enclosures appear to be clean and large enough for the animals. Staff were polite and knowledgeable. The $3 sausage sandwiches kept the kids happy at lunch. Don't mind paying $110 for a family ticket when it is obvious that the money is spent on the animals.

It's relatively smaller than any other zoo compared to Perth, sydney or Melbourne. Staff were not helpful. They seem more interested in taking care of the guests who stay over (at the zoo hotel) and there was not much attention for the guests who made day trips.

No Love for Seniors. Drove 2 1/2 hours to visit the Zoo, due to my father being unable to walk long distances at 84 years old, he came to meet he's family from NZ and have a coffee in the Cafe and catch up with the family for 5-10 minutes. After 6 of us paying over $160+, he was not even allowed into the Cafe to get out of the 35degree heat on crutches without paying $45 (to see animals, he had no intention of seeing, nor could saee due to mobility)... No consideration or understanding after this was all explained. As he would have shouted the whole family for lunch of 7, it didnt really make any business sense. Sad day for all involved.

Fantastic to see so many animals up close. Enclosures are spacious, animal variety is plentiful and the pathways are great. Lots to see and do, there s even a good aquarium (undergoing a change at the time due to quarantine requirements). More

It truly is one of the best institutions in Canberra. There are a wonderful assortment of animals, but you can't go past the meerkats for the best entertainment.

The staff are very informative and knowledgeable. The parks has plenty shady spots to have a rest.

But go early in summer as it get hot very quickly.
