The zoo is nice and well maintained. Not in the big leagues but it's a good place to spend a day with your family. You can skip the aquarium.
Really great zoo. Very well maintained and the animals all seem very happy and playful. Enjoyed my second visit as much as the first. Great for photographers. Highlight was the penguins at feeding time. Also worth checking out the accommodation options for an overnight stay with closer access to the coolest animals.
This Zoo is a little pricey but definitely worth it. It is gorgeous to stroll through and now with the addition of their unique adventure park it is a must visit for families.
I want you to know that visiting this place is a memorable in life time
Easy for the kids to really engage with the animals
Best Zoo ever.
Great day out, clean grounds great layout, clear view of all of the Animals.
Will definately be back to stay overnight in one of the available animal lodges.
Definately recommend the trip to Canberra.
Great place, and up and close and personal with the wildlife
I love the zoo. Most animals are here. Easy to view. But aquarium lacks signage of animals. But it was good
Well presented enclosures and lots of big cats. Parking is limited so arrive early
Once saw a black cockatoo here, not one of the zoo animals but i was pleased to see it. Diddn't get a photo so maybe that diddnt happen, you decide.
I loved this place, most animals I could see from the height of my wheel chair, so great for little kids to see without having to be picked up. Great family day out.
A lot bigger than I expected , great staff and animals seemed really happy
Went for the 2nd time it's been a few years. Definitely an awesome up grade and probably better to go when it isn't hot. They have a few different things happening there now bigger. Would be awesome if they could expand the aquarium. If you are visiting go to the parts where the zoo keepers explain a bit about the animals etc good info and insight
Great experience and I would recommend any family come and visit. A bit expensive but the facilities are good and it's not too crowded. I would suggest due to Canberra's weather you take umbrellas and ponchos just in case as there is some very open areas. Lots of picnic areas all around the place so having a packed lunch is really easy. Aquarium isn't exactly large so don't expect really big seas creatures. However the facilities in there are great.
Loved it everyone should go and see if they get a chance
Always a great experience at Canberra's Zoo. The entry fee is rather pricey for interstate visitors. A family will set you back $130+ just to get in the door. Plus other attractions and food.
My daughter asked me where is the elephant, did he take a vacation?
Great place to visit if you love animals. If you choose to, you can feed and pet animals at a very reasonable price. I will never forget feeding a tiger or patting a rhino!
The zooventure tour we went on was amazing. I would highly recommend it for anyone looking to get a closer look or looking to feed the animals.
While obviously a second tier zoo, I still find the place enjoyable and visit with my family whenever in Canberra.
Lovely way to spend an afternoon-- enclosures were beautifully kept and sized, you can tell the animals are well taken care of. Layout is well thought-out and it's easy to see all exhibits.
My favourite Zoo. Very clean and animals were all active. Just such a beautiful park the whole family loved it there. The little kids play area/park is one of the best I've seen.
Great setup and nice play area. Worth the expense on a membership
Well what can I say what an awesome place for the kids and me and who knew you could stay over night it make Sydney zoo look like a petting zoo with no animals.what a surprise.
I was pleasantly surprised by the work being done here these days. I still think the name is deceitful and should be changed. This is private organisation with no statutory mandate.
Has a really good kids park. If you can afford the $350 annual family pass, i would highly recommend it rather yhan the $40 per person price.
Ive really noticed that the animals food is prepped to perfection - and i can tell the animals appreciate it too. Stellar tours as well
A magnificent zoo.Well worth a visit if you are visiting Canberra or if you live here.
What a lovely zoo. Such a great variety of animals, with plenty of viewing opportunities. We went on an incredibly hot day (over 40 degrees) but there was plenty of shade and seats along the way.
Awesome zoo, could do with a larger aquarium, but still one of the best!
Had a lovely time Wynlen House slow food farm is supplyng water fowl feed in the form of our special mash. The birds seems plump and well and contented. The zoo cares for them all beautifully. Good on you.
Really Nice little Zoo that had animals I'd never seen before which is why you go a zoo right?! The staff were friendly and helpful and everywhere was clean and tidy. We added the lion feeding experience onto our day which was awesome! Not everyday you get to look a lion in the eyes nor feed them too - well worth it!
Had a fantastic day visiting this place. It took us over 3 hours to look at everything around. I finally got to see animals like red panda and tigers close up and it was amazing. It definitely showed that all the animals are loved and cared for by the keepers.
Great zoo. Up there with the best in Australia and I have been fortunate enough to vist many. Plenty of room. Animals well cared for with roomy enclosures. Only downside is not many birds there. No big walk in aviary. But the big cats make up for it!! We bought an annual pass.
Loved the zoo, easy walk, so well designed, a must see if you are in Canberra
Around lunch they let the visitors pet the dingos, which you should definitely try be around for.
It is very big and may take few hours to see everything. Lots animals.
Won't recommend the aquarium.
Great place for families during weekends. Variety kinds of animals here. Two cafes found here.
This is a nice zoo with a great selection of animals. Downsides: 1) it is expensive for adults 2) the walk is longer than you might think and little kids will get tired 3) the walk path is a bit confusing at times. But overall it is a nice zoo, good refreshments and play area in addition to the animals.
Great zoo, everything well maintained. staff were great. sensational play ground! highly recommend.
would love to see an elephant and gorillas added.
Great spot to take the family for a 2-3 hour visit. The new open range area of the zoo is a great place to walk around and see the rhinos and giraffes. The meerkats, monkeys and otters are still our favorites! The tigers, cheetahs and lions are just as impressive.
Good zoo - family friendly, sympathetic animal enclosures, responsible animal care and participation in endangered breeding programs. Aquarium ok, but needs some refurb.
Best place in Canberra. Great for families. So beautiful and easy to get around. I loved it and can't wait to go back.
Needs more bathrooms. Skipped aquarium because the line was too long. Habitats were nice and lush. Lots of animal activity.
Good experience. But I had travelled from Grafton to see Otters at the zoo and we weren't even notified that the Otters weren't there. It was a massive downer and serious disappointment.
Visited with the family today and had a great time. The zoo has really changed over the past 5 years with its size doubling and many new areas opening up.
What a great zoo, and a fantastic experience for adults and youngsters alike. The accommodation option looks amazing for those who can afford it.
I am not a keen lover of seeing animals behind a barrier, nor enclosed. But there was such a great relationship between the animals and the keepers that made things some what bare-able for them. The entrance is pricey as is all the zoo. But I guess it is their home and they have overheads. Worth visiting!
LOVE the National Zoo and Aqaurium, especially the new section.
We usually go at least once a fortnight.
The family loved Solo and Zuma's bithday party.
The cake was awesome.
The aqaurium is a bit of a letdown.
The family and I hope that the aqaurium will get an upgrade soon.
Overall the zoo is great, worth a visit for sure. There are some great exhibits, and you feel close the the animals, kinda like a cross between Western Plains Zoo and Taronga Zoo in Sydney.
Was organised the staff was friendly help my kids to learn about animals
I just love the Canberra National Zoo and Aquarium. The place is looking fantastic with the new accommodation having just opened, and the aquarium being reopened in recent months, with the expansion being opened within the next couple of months. It is a wonderful place with great enclosures for the animals. My mum did the "otter experience" which she just adored. Staff are friendly and knowledgeable, the place is wheelchair and stroller friendly, and it's a great place to spend half a day.
fun for the kids but bit expensive, would be great if the had school holiday specials
Great place to take the kids, but if you're a fan of social distancing, don't come here on school holidays or weekends.
Such a wonderful, well laid out and diverse zoo (and aquarium). We visited on a very warm Saturday, we were delighted by the sausage sizzle (every weekend and public holiday) and enjoyed a quiet sit down lunch in the air conditioned bistro. I love that there are BBQ facilities for patrons and more than enough picnic tables, gazebos and kabanas that there is somewhere shaded to sit all over the zoo. Theres loads of tables and chairs set up so that you can eat your food whilst watching the animals (not just at a Cafe like most zoos in Australia). The animals housed at the zoo are wide ranging and there's plenty of opportunities to get up close to some with keeper talks and encounters (I love that the giraffe feeding is a $10 donation to their conservation initiative if the giraffes actually cooperate, otherwise you don't need to pay). The guide/keeper talks are wonderful and very interactive, I can't say enough good things about the talks, the guides just love telling stories or facts about their animal friends and it's delightful to listen to them. I took a toddler and baby (in a pram) we navigated the area without issue, made many stops along the adventure trail to eat snack in the shade and watch the animals enjoy their day. The playground is a great way for the kind da to run off that part bit of steam before getting in the car too go home. Will definitely be coming back.
Nice place to visit with the kids on a warm sunny day! The kids enjoyed it!
Very nice zoo. They fit so much in, so close to city. Clean and tidy and excellent for the kids...with a great new playpark and cafe halfway around. They were kept busy and happy all day. The aquarium was very well done too.
Quite a nice zoo, although there were a few exhibits closed.
I never knew White Lions or snow leopards even existed until I came here. Wow!
Can't get enough of this place, the newly opened area is a must. Well done to all of the staff & owners. Check out Jamala Lodge Accommodation while there, you will not be disappointed.
Loved the set up. The zoo has a great flow and the animals seem very happy and healthy. Will be going again
I like to see animals in the wild but not a bad attempt to accommodate the inhabitants
