My son attended Camp Sequioa for the first time the summer of 2018. I was on the search for a place that accepted my child and I knew he was going to be safe. Sequoia provided all of that and more. He got to spend three weeks making new friends, developing independent skills as well as developing social skills, and having fun with peers with the same diagnosis. After an extensive interview with the camp director, I knew that I had finally found a place for my kiddo. The staff are beyond fantastic. The entire group spends the off-season working within the realm of the ADHD world. I trust them completely with my son.
Before my kiddo went away for 3 weeks, he participated in the weekend trips the school year before the summer of 2018. This was a great experience for him and for the staff to get to know each other before he got to campus. They were able to develop an individualized plan for my kiddo while at camp. My son is happy, content, and like a normal kid when he is with his camp Sequoia friends.
If you are looking for someone someplace to send your ADHD son, where he will fit in and be amongst his peers with the same diagnosis, camp Sequoia is your place !
Camp Sequoia is the Nirvana for children with social disorders. These kids respond very well to learning in an environment suited to their needs. For many of the children who come to this camp, they struggle with basic social skills, and the ability to foster meaningful relationships with their peers. Due to the structure of the Sequoia Curriculum, they leave having accomplished so much more than that!
Got bullied all the time at this camp someone broke my glasses and some of the kids were racist to some of the friends I actually had there the only thing that was good was one of my counselers Akeem and the places were great and all but it was not the best experience
I was told a kid here was forced and pushed into the pool by an instructor!
Working here has given me such great experience and memories. The campers and the staff impacted me every summer I worked there.
I could not have been happier with my son's experience at Camp Sequoia. He is 12 and it was the first time he was away from home for such a long period of time. I was in excellent communication with the staff. They were very well trained, patient and firm when needed. The fact that I could see pictures of him daily and could see the joy on his face when he was engaged in his activities was terrific! The activities were great but what makes this Camp special is the group sessions and the coaching on frustration tolerance. On the trip back home my son said he could not wait for the winter trips! As a parent who struggles with a lack of understanding in the school setting this Camp was a breath of fresh air after a particularly difficult school year. My son was accepted rather than judged and coached rather than dismissed. Next year is a definite for this family!
Leadership is top notch; amazing experience for these kids
I had a great experience working here as a nurse. I plan on coming back next summer. The experienced staff members are great with the kids and I learned a lot from them regarding this population. Most of the counselors are full time teachers and work here during the summer. The nursing staff consisted of 3 nurses. The head nurse has over 20 years experience. Although a camp can function with 2 nurses, Camp Sequoia wanted to have 3 nurses to ensure the safety of the campers. The kids that come here have attention seeking behavior and I really enjoyed seeing the improvements at the end of the 6 weeks.
Quality staff trained to help campers become the best version of themselves through positive social interactions and one on one intervention
My Registered Nurse experience at Camp Sequoia was #1
Camp Sequoia is structured, organized, educational, and proficient at everything they do for their kids. They have experienced staff who undergo extensive training prior to the start of camp. I had the pleasure of working with, and reporting to the Director, Brian Lux, who went above and beyond for the camp kids and his staff.
Brian has built the foundation for Camp Sequoia through his hard work, genuine understanding, and dedication to providing excellent quality care and services to this very special population of kids. The success of Camp Sequoia is proof that Brain and his staff have what it takes to provide a fun and educational experience for your child.
A five star environment that will provide guidance and structure to children who struggle with social skills and behavioral issues.
Camp Sequoia is a wonderful community that provides gifted young men with an opportunity to enjoy the perks of a traditional Summer camp in addition to building upon their social skills and gaining meaningful friendships.
This camp and the wonderfully qualified and caring staff, are AMAZING at what they Do! 100% the best Camp for our Son to ever have gone to. And the best place for so many, great reasons, caring Structured learning and Fun time , beyond what most parents can provide.
Thank, you Brian and all your wonderful Staff!
Are you guys next year and looking forward to the upcoming weekend trips
The counselors are excellent and the office was really easy to communicate with. Highly recommend.
We just picked up my son from 6 weeks of camp. He is already asking to return again next year. There were ups and downs but that is part of the growth experience. He absolutley loved the staff. The counselors and professionals made a huge impression on him. The activities keep the kids busy and the frequent trips to exciting locations ensure that there is never a boring moment at camp.
Great camp with an amazing staff! Especially cool how they offer extra programs throughout the school year
This place is the real deal! We were so afraid to send our son here last year. Just the Idea of sending him across the country. And knowing that he has been sent home from other camps because did he not get along with others very well. What a blessing this place is! Not only did he not get sent home. He loved it so much he extended it for the whole summer. When he came back he was so much better with us and others. I would recommend camp Sequoia to anyone who has a kid that need help with social skills.
The staff here is wonderful and the skills that are taught here make a huge inpact on the kids throughout their life. Between learning social skills and being able to tackle new situations campers gain a great deal and thusly The Amazing Camp Sequoia really lives up to it's namesake.
This camp has great leadership and one of the best Camp Directors I was able to meet. This camp help kids get out of their comfort zone and gives them a home away from home. The staff training from the leadership team is top notch and they make sure that you are prepared for any obstacle you may face. It gives you a chance to make a immediate impact in a camper life.
I had a awesome summer at Camp Sequoia. I felt camp was well supervised by the staff. I made new friends, and hope to see the next year.
