Super fun spot. Kids had a blast. We must if done the mirror maze 3 or 4 times. The rest was just as much fun.

Had a really good time here
Will visit again if we visit Edinburgh again
As a couple in our mid-twenties, we enjoyed this attraction immensely. there were plenty of hands on activities and mind benders to take up about an hour and a half of a person's time. we especially enjoyed the tunnel and the light level. the guide for the obscura itself was very entertaining. the attraction was well worth the price.
Camera Obscura, Edinburgh.
Having been there twice, first as part of the Google City Expert gathering and then invited by manager Andrew for a day time exhibition, in order to access the roof top Camera Obscura itself which was obviously closed during the Google City Expert night time reunion.
Camera Obscura is a great attraction for families, kids and adults alike. It s fun, is interesting and will give you a very useful induction in the word of optical physics.
Staff is welcoming, helpful and friendly, always available to guide you and to give you the right advice on how to get most of all its exhibitions. You can get the best of the Camera Obscura roof top observatory during sunny/bright days in order to appreciate the whole optical experience. Good value for money and great fun for everyone!!!
It must be the 4th time I go there.s should I say more? (It's expensive, but it's really good)
I really like this place, but 5 floors of it is just too much for me.
Book tickets through their own website! Great experience for a couple of drunk halfwits from Glasgow. My second time there. Lots of good optical illusions.
Very enjoyable! We visited today and upon entry we were informed that the camera Obscura was suffering a fault so we were unable to see it, we were subsequently offered a 10% discount or the chance to come back at a later date. We took the discount as it was out last day in Edinburgh. There are quite a few floors and the views from the roof terrace are spectacular, there were even binoculars which were free to use (unlike the castle). The floors were full of fun and interesting objects and illusions, there is something for all ages. Would definitely recommend for anyone looking to entertain the kids for an hour or so.
Great attention, but not the cheapest place to visit as a family.
Excellent place to visit. Would like to recommend to everyone.
Very cool place to waste an hour or two, lot of unique exhibit, interesting pictures and interactive gadgets and such. Good for all ages, nice view of the city from up top and "tour" if you do the scheduled attraction at the top.
Cracking place to visit, lots of entertainment throughout and interesting photography on all floors. The talk at the top was funny and enjoyable, would recommend. Anyone looking to have a great few hours filled with laughs go check it out!
Very entertaining loads to keep the kids busy with hands on activities. The original camera obscura is very interesting too. Would recommend,. Oy down side is the entry cost is a bit steep.
If the whether is nice and sunny you have better experience. Very expensive tickets for what is offered.
Great place with 6 floors filled with props and fun activities
This place is definitely going to give you a good feeling if you are interested in experiencing different types of optical illusions.
There are also many mirror illusions as well as some microscopes which can magnify the objects to a greater extent.
One of the things I liked was the theatrical show where some practical experiment involving Physics were demonstrated.
Good to visit atleast once.
An excellent place to visit. You can experiment different things.
Great place for adults and kids. I went there with my 4 years old daughter, and she loved. I recommend.
Great interactive museum with optical illusion, electric plasma balls, and great views of the city.
A bit pricey for my taste, but still worth. Pretty cool things to do and look at, I had a good time. Sadly the Camera wasn't working because of the bad weather.
Good fun ! Helpful full staff even while restrictions
And kids loved it enjoyed it alot
This was such a fantastic and interesting place to visit.
Wooooooow my heads still spinning now we'll worth the wait and money amazing interesting exhibit
The place is must visit spots in Edinburgh. One must visit it during a sunny day to get great look of city. The souvenirs shop is also fascinating with lots of interesting science items.
Best attraction in Edinburgh. Really friendly staff and great attractions. Kids will love it and can easily spend several hours here. They stamp your hand and you can come and go as you please the whole day. Great when you need a seat or toilets! Superb views of the castle and a great gift shop with lots of quirky stuff. Highly recommend
A really fun place with famous and new Illusions. Unleash your inner child!
One of the best places to visit. Expensive tickets but value for money.
Spectacular! Children and adult all like it. But you may find some illusion a bit dizzy. Do remember go there on day time, because the wonderful reflection of city view is only visible with sun light. We misled by its web to go visit at night. Barely nothing can be seen on the city view reflection.
Fantastic entertainment! Highly recommend this to everyone of all ages. Really well laid out for covid restrictions and plenty of sanitising stations on every floor. Will definitely be going again!
Fantastic, worth every penny. Staff are fantastic. Definitely worth a couple of hours of your time!
Visited here for an evening visit and staff recommended going straight to the roof top for the views before it got too dark, great idea! We then worked our way down. Lots of interactive activities and was such great fun!
Worth the price of admission for the Vortex Bridge alone, this place delivers six floors of curios, hands-on exhibits and more. Though it s in a tourist-heavy area, Camera Obscura is not a tourist trap. I highly recommend checking this place out. It s more entertainment attraction than museum.
The mirror's room where you see Edinburgh is definitely a must go
Fantastic experience for the whole family and plenty to keep kids interested. The camera obscura itself is an amazing drviz3 given its age and is well explained by the staff who are friendly and very helpful. Good range of gifts in the shop More
Lots to do and great for people all ages although lots of tourists and other people all in the same place
I had a great time visiting Edinburgh. There was street music festival going on and wine testing, etc. So much fun. Highly recommended for tourists. Very friendly people and free library hours is a bonuses for the unexpected weather( rained about every 15minutes then sunshine again).
I liked the second floors and the tour on the 6th floor. All the rest was okay. An excellent place for kids, not so much for adults.
Enjoyed the illusions. Lotttttssss of stairs, not for the unfit. Lol. All the staff were lovely.
If you're in the mood for a more fun way to spend an hour or two, check out the Camera Obscura and World of Illusions right next to the entrance to Edinburgh Castle. This interactive museum is filled with optical illusions and fun puzzles and the tower gives you some great views out over the city.
Really interesting lots to see and do, fun for all the family
Two hours easily . The view from the top balcony itself is worth the money.
This was really fun. Many many cool things to see. 5 stories of fun.
A must visit place when you are in Edinburgh. Do not miss out the top floor that's the best part.
Awesome, kids loved it, time in actual camera is short but entertaining, rest of exhibits fascinating and fun
A wonderful place to visit with children and a funny time to spend in Edinburg !
This is a great place. Well worth a visit. The kids loved it. Set over five floors and takes a good couple of hours to go round it all. Unfortunately couldn't see clearly on the camera at the top but that was the weather's fault and Dougal (?) made the best of a bad day. Would highly recommend.
Was good experience and Andrew hosting the show on 6th floor was too good
Totally worth the price. So much to see and experience. Can be a tight squeeze during busy tourist season but a good experience nevertheless. The camera obscura show is the cherry on top.
Must visit attraction for families.
My son absolutely loved this place and I had a great time too. It was a little costly but worth it. The staff did well especially with all the hyperactive kids.
A very interesting place to visit. With 5 floors (6 including the floor for toilets) full of hand on interactive illusions it's great fun for everyone. The top floor boasts a stunning aerial view of Edinburgh and a camera obscura built all More
Fantastic day,, lots to see and once you're in you can come and go which is great with kids as you can nip out for lunch .
Great for adults and kids
Amazing place to go. So much to see and do. It does seem expensive but for a good day out I would recommend,it is worth the money.
I'd been interested to visit the Camera Obscura after seeing photos of friend's visits and first visited as part of a Google City Experts event held one evening in this venue, and loved it so much I visited subsequently with a friend.
There are a wide range of exhibits and the place is larger than expected which are fun, educational, and entertaining which complement the main attraction; Edinburgh's Camera Obscura.
It's a great way to spend a rainy day with a date/friend or to keep children entertained. There are also some great views of the city at the top of the building if you go outside - so don't forget to take a camera if you're visiting!
This was soo much fun!!! Laughed a lot!
First you get a demonstration how the camera work, quite fascinating, seeing how old the technology is. Then you go visit illusions.
You can compare it a little bit to Ripley's.
Deffinatly recommend.
Loved this place. Loads of exciting things to check out for. The staff is very friendly. There is a special show held every 15 minutes or so where the entire city can be viewed by just a lens. David took us through this one on our visit. It was a lot of fun.
Looks good but didn't have time. Will defo i go back to go.
Excellent and interesting day out for all the family.
AMAZING! Loved every minute. Camera obscura show is on a morning but it much better to visit the rest at night!
Amazing place! There is something for everyone! Love it.
Great view and experience, very weird and fun attractions
Been a couple of times now. Fantastic place to visit, if you go Edinburgh, go here!
Something for both adults and children. Very enjoyable with some quite impressive illusions.
It was an excellent experience in Camera Obscura! We had a great time here, what is more Rosie made our visit even more interesting - she perfectly knew how to make the story about the tool and the city interesting and funny!
Great venue packed with lots of exhibits and activities for all ages
An amazing visit. Really friendly staff and the roof top view is worth the price alone.
Well worth a visit, really enjoyed and buying tickets are for all day.
Excellent for the kids. We saved a good amount using Spre book vouchers. The place is crammed full of little and bigger features, all optical illusions, and theres a show at the top level (the original camera obscura in action). Staff are friendly, well informed and funny. We will be back again.
Amazing, the history of how it was created, and the views is outstanding, my favourite has to be the mirror maze. Brilliant
Extremely interesting and enjoyable experience. Good fun for the family.
Lots of quirky things to make you think, and loads for kids. Guide was fab!
This was a fantastic family day out. 2 and 5 year old. We all loved it.
They have some brilliant illusions and lots of interactive exhibits. Fairly pricey but worth it as a whole. Wouldn't advise the show on the top floor to be honest, it's a bit naff and the staff narration was full of cringeworthy jokes. Would probably suit young children however.
So much fun definitely be back and bringing the kids next time
Great for all ages, easy to spend a few hours here, reasonable value for money, friendly staff. Great views of Edinburgh too!
5 floors of mind boggling illusions with an amazing view from the top!
Unique place; fun for all ages; must visit in Edinburgh
Camera Obscura depends a lot in the weather but it was amazing. The world of illusions is fun!! Its hard to take pictures so i suggest just a recording visit.
Loved this attraction, good value for money because nearly everything was working well. The presentation was fun and informative. Interaction with the exhibits was easy and rewarding.
AMAZING absolutely brilliant, well worth a visit, will definitely go again next time were in Edinburgh
Really strange place but would highly recommend to absolutely everyone!
This place is stupidly awesome and you'll lose hours in this place.
There's 5 floors of mental illusions that will mess with your brain. One minute you'll be tall and slender until you shimmy over to the next one where you've shrunk 3ft and your entire body has condensed down.
The mirror maze will leave you confused and untrusting of any shiny surfaces in the future. Don't even get me started on the spiny wheel thing! You'll be grabbing onto the bar 'cause you're convinced you're falling - completely mind messing (do not go in here if you've had a drink!)
All round awesome place. If you go here during the day, make sure you go right to the top. There's an awesome view of Edinburgh up there!
Brilliant experience price is a bit high but you can come back in multiple times as long as you show them your stamped hand.
Fantastic placed filled with funny illusions and interesting attractions like gigantic kaleidoscopes or a tunnel designed to disorentate and force you off balance. Great place to spend a few hours with a great view overlooking the city.
