One of Kenya's greatest mysteries. This is a must visit whenever you along the Kenyan coast. Also the local guides are very knowledgeable and willing to answer any silly questions you might have .

Gede being a very good place with the biggest palace in East Africa its a side based on excavation which lies on a good number of acres although only 14acres were excavated where one can access and learn about the history on the residents who lived there centuries ago.... the site has different attractions as follows ; snake park, ruins, Nature walk and butterfly farm, the Giriama dance, at the gate are sold wrist bands as souvenirs this is done by self employed young men who are tryng to make ends meet. What are you waiting.....go have fun and kindly remember to promote the talented man bye... have fun

This place is really cool and has a lot of untapped potential. The ruins are beautiful. They're not done clearing the outer walls and mosques. The snake farm is neat, but needs a little updating and hands on with the non venomous snakes. The butterfly farm left a lot to be desired... The wild monkeys you feed peanuts to were the highlight of our trip in Kenya!! We loved those monkeys! They were really fun to interact and play with.

Great historical place! There is beauty and history in these ruins dated all the way back to the 12th century. I could picture the Sultan with his court of advisers, see the children running to the Masjid (Islamic place of prayer), hear the shouts of the merchants in the market place, vision the beauty and listen closely enough and you can hear the call to prayer echoing through the town.

Very beautiful. Especially the monkeys who come to look for food (bananas, etc.). Bello also the village with the ruins still well kept. A jump in other times. We see how we lived in a Muslim village between the court, the hospital, among the rich and the poor. Nestled in the forest and among the baobabs.
