We were very happy with the care our recently deceased mother/ mother-in-law received at CAMA over the past couple of years. The staff was professional, caring, and friendly. We feel CAMA was exceptional.
My mother-in-law spent over 4 years as a resident in CAMA Woodlands. She received the best of care from all the staff members, always showing her respect, patience, compassion and love during her difficult journey with Alzheimer's disease. Mom benefited from the Butterfly program for dementia care, focusing on her individual needs. What a success this program has been , and the staff should be admired for all they contributed. I feel blessed that Mom had the CAMA" family" care for her during her last years with us.
My aunt went into Cama Woodlands because we moved to Waterdown. The care was adequate however they were very negligent and she passed away because of their negligence. My aunt fell and hit her head and temple. They did not call me (family contact person) until much later and although she had vomitted they said she was okay. Now they knew she was on blood thinners and she should have been taken to the hospital to have a brain scan to see about brain bleed. They DID NOT. My mom (her sister) was at Joseph Brant Hospital and when they called me I was there and was going to see her later. I came home to let the dogs out before going to see my aunt. I received a phone call from one of the nurses saying that my aunt had not wanted to have supper and just wanted to go to bed. She layed her down and she was NON-RESPONSIVE. Instead of calling the ambulance immeditely they called me to ask if it was normal for her not to answer them (now she had been there for almost 2 yrs). I told them NO and for them tocall theambulance immeditely. I was told she could not unless the doctor gave them orders to. I gave them exactly 1 min to call me back to tell me they had called them and within 30 sec. she called back saying that the ambulance was on the way. My son had dropped by and Within a short time, as i was leaving the house, the ER doctor from Joseph brant called saying that if I wanted to see her alive to get myself down there because shehad severe brain hemmoraging and there was nothing that could be done. So my aunt PASSED AWAY DUE TO THE NEGLIGENCE OF CAMA WOODLANDS. They did not take responsibility for their actions or lack there of...Very sad my mom lost her younger sister and I lost a good friend and my son lost his godmother all DUE TO the NEGLIGENCE of the staff at Cama Woodlands. Do beware of what goes on. I had observed several residents with severe bruises on many occasions. Just saying! Called the government about it and NOTHING was done, not even an investigation!
My mother spent her last year and a half at CAMA. My family and I found the staff caring, compassionate and respectful. The facility was consistently clean and well maintained. I always felt that my mom was in good hands and that I was kept informed. I was a regular visitor here and watched how, not only my mom but, other residents were lovingly treated by personal support workers and other staff. I would highly recommend CAMA Woodlands.
