While the phone representatives are friendly, the services are practically useless.
I have called multiple times to get referrals to doctors who will take my insurance through them. Whenever I speak to the actual doctor's office employees I'm always told No they do not take my insurance. CalOptima needs to figure out who they are actually working with! Beyond upset trying to find a doctor who will take this insurance.

Be aware Caloptima is sending to the people who belong to health group, fake $25.00 Target cards, for covid shots. The cards have no money on them. If you receive one. Check it online. Before trying to buy anything with it. So you won't be embarrassed trying too use it. And don't call Target's customer services they are no help. They'll just tell you to call Caloptima. What I can't believe why Caloptima would do that? And have people be embarrassed in the store with a gift card that is fake? Wrong. I would have got my covid shots anyway. But still that is just plain wrong.

Watch out if youre a diabetic. The consider things like a dexcom as a luxury and won't cover it. Its a life saver, but they seem too cheap to cover it. They make these things so diabetics can be much safer, and diabetes is NOT a luxury.

Went to get the vaccine today. Line was not too long, registration was easy. Unfortunately I registered online but they couldn't find it. But I was happy that the line was moving smoothly and the wait was really not that long. All the employees were very friendly and helpful and made sure everyone was comfortable. So far so good, let's see what happens after the second shot.

You get what you pay for, folks. This is a (typically) free public health insurance program. Given this, it gets three stars. CAUTION: Customer service lines always have VERY long wait times. Choose your health network cautiously. But...you will always be able to find a provider, ultimately, but it may take some trial and error, given it's an HMO.

If it is possible DO NOT PICK this health agency extremely unprofessional they don t call you back if you have an issue. I ve had an issue with a doctor in early July about an incorrect diagnoses that had me taking unnecessary pills. Never got a call back. I filed a complaint the person handling my case NEVER called me, in the resolution letter they send out it says call if you have any questions. Still to this day haven t heard from this person I left 2 voicemails in early July. Finally got a call from another resolution specialist that was working on my case. She was extremely rude and actually hung up in my face and cut me off from speaking multiple times.. Did not allow me speak about my issue. Refused to help me understand why it has taken so long for a call back. I filed this complaint august 4th and requested a callback the call back is supposed to be within 24 hours or 5 to 10 business days. It took them 3 weeks and only because I called to ask, she actually called me in the MIDDLE of me calling customer service about it because the customer service person sent a notification to her so she might have saw it and immediately called. Without a doubt she would have NEVER called me if I didn t call customer service. Absolute horrible agency. Please save yourself the time and stress dealing with them.
