Callaway Gardens Resort Review

Even though it was brutally cold. It was a wonderful family experience! One of those moments to remember for a life time.

Nice place to visit for the day and beautiful Fantasy in Lights during the Christmas Season...

We stayed at the cottages and found them to be pleasant. Located at the south end of the property, I would recommend either renting bikes or a golf cart to ease your movement through the various garden sites

Such a wonderful place to visit regardless of the season. I come here regularly. I love the fact that y can bring your dog ant walk the trails with your pets

Me and my daughter went to visit the butterfly house. The information provided was a wealth of knowledge. the facility was well lit with natural light which made the experience AMAZING. the staff was very professional and knowledgeable. The butterfly's were a breathe of fresh air. Did get kind of lost trying to navigate to the butterfly house. the website was not very informative of the prices. we paid $20 for admission to the chattahoochee reserve... callaway was $26.

I have not visited the facility. The customer service staff was so rude and lack significant knowledge regarding the activities for the weekend. Furthermore, the "Fantasy in the Lights" customer service rep hung up on me when I tried to inquire about the times. I'm sure I'll visit eventually, but I refuse to take the chance to pay $300 for an overnight package without a guarantee that my daughter would have been to enjoy the activities.

They should be getting - no stars . the health department should be called ! As well as the fire department for safety issues Pool was so dirty guests are engraving their name in the scum on the tile in the pool. Our room door stuck so bad you had to just about kick it to get in. Room seemed OK to us until plugging in cell phone to charge we noticed dirty underwear left behind by another guest and dirty tissues covered in dust by the head of bed. not to mention the large cockroaches when we complain to the front they didn't want to refund our money was told the manager was busy in a meeting. But I stood my ground and insisted on speaking to the manager and showed them pictures of the dirty underwear and roaches finally they refunded my my money but I had to fight for it. We were planning on spending all day at the Gardens. We were so disgusted that we didn't even do that we're headed back home. Pretty sad place

The mountain creek inn is where we stayed. It was the equivalent of a red roof inn. Not very clean and very old. The billing was dome wrong twice. I was there with coworkers. We all stayed in the same type of room and we were all charged 3 different rates. There is also nothing else to do nearby.

NICE and peaceful, we really enjoyed our time there. The dinning was very good as well.

Beautiful lights. Thew were as disorganized as a group of 3rd graders. Signs were hard to see in the dark and employees gave directions of "over there".

I went for there beautiful light display fo4 christmas. It was wonderful and our kids loved it .it was coooold though. Thank uou for suuch a wonderful time

My family always loves Callaway Gardens! The whole place is beautiful, lots of fun stuff to do. Both my 16 year old son and my 2 year old niece had a great time.

They have some nice trails hiking and biking trails.

Came here for the Fantasy in Lights Show and stayed in the villas. One word: outdated. The best part was the lights. The resort seems like they stayed in 1980 the breakfast buffet not worth the price. There's nothing to do out there besides the resort and the town closes down around 9-10 so you can't order pizza late. Don't waste your money to stay in this upgraded motel 6

Highly recommend Callaway Gardens for a relaxing getaway. The food at the resort was outstanding, a la carte as well as the buffet. The butterfly sanctuary was just incredible. I took the attached photos with a Fujifilm X100s fixed 50mm. However, you can get so close to them you could take them with your phone! Also, in the winter months, there is a holiday light show. You can drive through or take a trolley. We went through two nights in a row it was so impressive. A few photos attached. Take a very warm jacket, hat and blanket for the trolley as it can get quite chilly.

This review is just for the Fantasy in Lights, not the gardens itself. I agree with previous reviewers saying the Fantasy in Lights is overrated. We went on a weeknight for $21/person on the Jolley Trolley. The lights themselves were ok but not the spectacular I was expecting. I've been to other light shows that were much better. For the price and travel time to this place, it's really not worth it.

Wonderful get away place peaceful and very nice people. Just need a few more attractions.

We went to Callaway Gardens for their Fantasy In Lights Christmas light display and it was a lot of fun.

2 stars for the "pet friendly room" we stayed in - in dire need of refurbishment. The place is showing it's age. I'm sure there are nicer rooms there and I hear the villa/detached suites are nice. Did not eat here so I can't review the restaurant. The grounds are beautiful and the staff is friendly. Free coffee in lobby was good. I will give them another chance, but only if pet friendly rooms are upgraded.

It is so beautiful there. We love the butterfly house. AAA discounts on admission and bike rentals

Food was great! Staff was engaging, and thoughtful. It is a beautiful to get close to God, and decompress.

Nice place to spend a vacation, but can be very expensive. Nice beach and a great bike trail.

We visit every year for Fantasy in Lights. We had a great time as we always do.

It's a beautiful place. However, check in is at 4 pm and they don't advise you that activities at location close by 5:30 pm and they stop signing people up for activities between the hours of 1:30 to 4 depending upon activity seleted. That was unfortunate seeing we only came to spend one night and leave the next. Went to the room to rent a movie seeing that everything else was closed but no per pay per view. Once again gorgeous place but they should let certain things be known for people to plan accordingly.

I love the Lodge here. The rooms have been updated and the beds are comfortable. They have great LG TV ' S with decent channels and balconies on each room. It's very quiet and nice for a quick getaway. CON: Room service is way too expensive. There are only a couple of restaurants near here but I only saw an Subway. Don't stay in the cabins cause they need updating.

Never knew this place existed and I'm a Georgia native! The beach is so cool and gives a retro vibe. They even play retro songs. We went during labor day weekend. They have so much to do there but we came for the hot air balloons. It was cancelled because of a storm and the last day of the festival which was really disappointing but they tried to make up for it by doing a fire show which was pretty cool. Only an hour and half from downtown Atlanta! Beautiful sunsets!

Went for Fantasy In Lights. Everyone had a great time! The lines seemed to move well. I would recommend getting there a bit before your scheduled time.

We went for a hike and stopped and ate at the county store. Food was awesome.

Went here for their annual hot air balloon festival! Really fun and beautiful hot air balloon show. Would have liked better/cleaner food options (found a bug in my food from a food truck inside the gardens) and cleaner restrooms but I know there were tons of people there.

We had a great time at the Festival of Lights and character breakfast. Everyone was super friendly and accommodating.

We took our children for a day at the beach and other activities. It has a lot of fun things to do as a family. The beach is great for kids and there are other great water activities as well. The Birds if prey show was interesting and educational and the FSU circus was a big hit. We also love the bike trails, my husband and I enjoy that they stretch through the whole park and the scenery is beautiful. The food prices are rather high but outside for is allowed and barbecues are provided do that's not really a problem. We love it there so much we keep an annual membership.

I do not go to the resort I went to the park and always as I always do and it is forever refreshing

So called this place on Thursday to ask if a particular activity was going on and the employee told me yes for Friday and get here today and another employee told me they weren t having that activity done today. So pretty much wasted 50 dollars for nothing so disappointed and really wish the communication skills between employees were better. I will not be coming back. I will not recommend Callaway gardens to anyone!

Loved the Christmas lights and butterfly garden. Visit in spring for azalea bloom. Don't miss the chapel in the woods. Pro golf course.

The trip was amazing. Great Beaches. Warm out door pool. Good Jamaican restaurant down the street. A wildlife safari across the street. The only thing absolutely ruined our experience was a staff member named Sandra. Cashier from the gift shop was unhelpful, prejudice towards people of color, totally rude and disrespectful to my wife. And left the worst taste in our mouths about Callaway Gardens. This lady does not need to represent Callaway Gardens at no point of sale.

everyone is very friendly. The Butterfly House is the best

I attended a 3 day conference for my company's annual meeting. The lodge was nice, the staff was great, and our stay was very nice.

Lots of things to do amd see here. The butterfly garden was amazing and we saw their bird of prey shoe and it was really good and informative. The birds fly over your head! They have plenty of activities for all ages.

A hidden gem. Fantasy in Lights has been a Christmas tradition for our family for many years.

Poor Customer Service! The receptionist still charged my credit card after having been advised that I was with a group for a Conference and paying with a County Check. I asked to speak with the Manager LISA and she never returned my call or attempted to rectify the situation.

We went for the light festival. It was about what you'd expect but I did see enough of the area to know that I'd like to go back.

We went to Callaway for their Fantasy in Light Christmas show and it was amazing! Perfect way to get in the mood for Christmas!!!

We mainly went for the bike trails and they were fun. The butterfly center was nice.

Callaway Gardens is the best place to be if you're looking for family oriented fun and beautiful tranquility! The grounds are immaculately kept. The last time I was here it was over 15 years ago! It's still so so lovely. My father worked here for quite some time and so many of my childhood memories are here. We visited everyday! Not to mention the wonderful camps we attended during the summertime. Coming back was super nostalgic and helped me to remember all the good times with my dad *RIP. Bringing my family here really means everything to me!

On Fridays they have a fantastic sea food buffet. The food is awsome, the atmosphere is very nice, and the wait staff is beyond reproach. I highly recommend the sea food on Friday evenings. If you leave hungry it's your own falt.

The butterfly garden is a must see if you visit Callaway gardens! Additionally, the entire place is a step out of the hustle and bustle of daily life and into the easygoing pace of Callaway and the beautiful forests, lakes and greens that it has to offer. Thoroughly recommended for people of all ages - if you are there at the right time be sure to check out the Bird show! The raptors they have are incredible!

Callaway is never a disappointment no matter what you're in the mood for.

Had a huge expectation for this place but it wasn't up to that hype. Not bad for a one day picnic. Everything will cost you $$$. The water isn't that clear either. Lanier island Beach is far better comparing this and you have freebies like huts, beach chairs, tables etc for free of rental at Lanier Beach.
