Lack of signage and lack of ambassadors to direct customers/passengers from domestic terminal to international is most frustrating, particularly when time is of the essence. We just made our connection and had no time to pick up any food and WestJet does not carry enough food for a full flight. Therefore, we starved on a five hour flight.

The Calgary International Airport (YYC) isn t the ...

The Calgary International Airport (YYC) isn t the best and shiniest Airport in Canada, but it is adequate in getting you to a wide array of domestic and international destinations. I actually like the simplicity of YYC, some airports can be confusing and tough to navigate but YYC is very straight forward. Level 1 is a straight forward arrivals level; Level 2 is as complicated as it gets (but still simple) and is their departures level, this splits into 3 gates/concourses: A, B and C with B; finally is Level 3, a small mezzanine that contains the Food Court. Super simple to get around even if you re new to the airport and once you ve done it a couple times it s an absolute breeze! Note: The airport can feel pretty old/dated overall compared to others, but they are in the process of a $2 billion expansion that is forecasted to complete 2015 and open in Fall 2016. Their new runway that opened in June 2014 is actually Canada s longest and a sure sign of positive things to come.

I ve found the staff here are a lot friendlier than some of the other airports I ve been to as well. This makes going through security and customs a breeze! If you need help there s usually always someone nearby willing to lend a hand including their White Hat volunteers.

Shopping, dining and services are all pretty average here. First off Shopping: Lots of basic consumer goods, don t expect to find any luxury shops. That being said it s not the best place for last minute gifts, I recommend shopping ahead of time or elsewhere so you re not caught off guard with subpar gifts. For souvenirs it s decent enough for the usual Canadian souvenirs, but if you want something more unique/authentic then shop away from the airport. The majority of your shopping is on departures level in pre-security and post-security concourses A&C, concourse B has the least to offer. The arrivals level has two Mac s stores and a liquor store.

Third, services: Free Wi-Fi, free 30 minute parking, free baggage carts, ATMS and Pay Phones are the basics. Free Wi-Fi is at most airports now and a definite must, the short-term parking is a big plus for picking people up as well! Access to outlets for charging are pretty adequate. Some other services that are good to know about: Pharmacy in pre-security, luggage wrapping, currency exchange, lounges in each concourse and mini-arcades. Some lesser knowns are the Chapel and Spaceport (for kids) on Level 3. Lastly there is a Delta Hotel adjacent to Airport right on the property.

If you don t have a ride/rental I usually recommend parking in the Economy Lot. It s an outside surface lot, just a short walk from the terminal but it s significantly cheaper than the Long Term P1/P2 lots. This is the same cost as using Park & Jet and cheaper than Park 2 Go. There s also a Cell Phone lot where people can wait for free until their passenger arrives. There are of course your usual rental car services and hotel shuttles, as well as a downtown airport shuttle. Car2Go is also partnered with Park 2 Go if you re travelling light or alone and don t want to pay for a taxi/parking.

I d describe YYC is simple, unintimidating and adequate for all travellers. I m very excited for the new international terminal in 2016 and anticipate this will make YYC a 4-4.5 star airport!

I have travelled to many countries across the world using several airlines. This time I used WESTJET, and this is by far the worst service. There is no clear information. On asking information several times i was given incorrect advise. They lost luggage. The customs broke an expensive gift whilst searching my baggage (for a babies bottle) They were rude. I almost missed a connecting flight due to the incompetence of the staff. I have given one star as there is no option to give 0.. I would NEVER use this airport again...

Review for the USA terminal, it is spectacular! Airy, open, new, and super clean. Enough shopping if you are so inclined. There are many choices for food. There is art strewn all over, please look up and around. You have your choice of seat types, each with a couple plugs for charging, and great wifi. All in all, a great airport.

I was looking forward to using the new terminal at YYC, especially as years of complaints regarding walking distances, should have alerted the management to review this issue. Unfortunately I was seriously disappointed. Walking distances are greater. It is almost as though management have never seen moving walkways!! This and the fact that no seating is available at departure gates, No Nexus line for security, and total cold empty cavernous departure hall. All combine to make this one of the worst flying experiences ever!!

I stayed for 4 hours with a connection of NRT YYC YEG YZF. The guide you see with your eyes is easy to understand, it's okay if you can speak English somewhat. The customs office was too rough. Announcements are French and English.

Unfortunately I didn t take any photos as my security and passport control took all of 3 mins at 720am, this. Airport employs an electric cart system o get you between the terminals
It runs on its own little track and is quiet and wick to travel between terminals
Made it easy to get some food and get to my gate
Canada is doing well in the airport category

Calgary Airport was absolutely wonderful. The staff were incredibly polite and helpful to me throughout my journey. There were many many restaurants to eat at, and they all had fairly low prices (for an airport). All in all, one of the best airports I've been to.

Took my daughter there just to find out options to travel then we did a little exploring which she loves to do! When we left I was slapped with a $27 parking charge...super redicilous to get charged that. So if I'm waiting to pick someone up and they come in late I get charged up my butt. Good to know yyc!

Probably the worst airport i've ever been to.

The whole design and setup is pathetic,

You have chili's, chili's and chili's to choose from for restaurants and the tap water tastes like is came right out of a hot tub.

The new international side is even worse than the old airport.

Overall airport is nice but minus 1 star because the luggage takes wayy too long (1h). And minus 1 star because the arrival hall organization sucks. Everytime I go through there it's mass confusion for the Canadians after the machine sucks in the declaration card and we have to make a 180 and head in the opposite direction. Paint some darn arrows on the ground.

They are very strict with liquids, making sure you have everything in a 1L plastic bag and one per person. Most airports are not so strict as long as you have under 4oz. I understand this procedure and I'm not complaining about it. However, the security just threw my liquids in the box and even though it was right in front of her, she missed a lot of them and it ended the conveyer belt.

Nice and medium sized airport. Every time I go it's pretty lax and not too busy. To you guys though, why the hate for Calgary!!! Calgary is a Canadian idol of a city that always gets swept under the rug by bigger and flashier cities. Honestly, they have done so well with the budget that the government has given them, even with the oil crisis, mind you. This is a great airport and a great city.

Great airport and first International flight for me and I was by myself with a power wheelchair. Everyone was helpful and more than enough staff to pay great attention. It is north of town so make sure you are not stuck in traffic coming for south of the city.

Incredibly bad planning on the new part of the airport. Came off our flight & it took almost 30 minutes to get bags that were checked at gate in departure city. Then there is an incredibly long walk to get to immigration & baggage claim. After that, we had to walk back in the direction we came from to the car rental location at the other end of the old terminal. No moving walkways, no buses, just walking with suitcases & ski equipment.

I was on vacation to Hawaii this year, and let me say this experience was like no other. This is my 4th time going, but what made my experience at the airport so different?

Time. Time was a factor in my flights, and let me state that the amount of time that it took for me and my family to get through necessary precautions such as check-in, security checkpoints and whatnot, was smooth and efficient. Our flight to Vancouver was delayed by about 30-40 minutes, but I never care. We ended up almost missing our connection to Kahului from Vancouver, but I'm not going to complain, I'm just glad we didn't miss our connection. I'm not going to blame the airport for the delays, because it was raining, and the plane in use before, the same one we flew on, came from Las Vegas, and it took time to unload luggage, unload the passengers, switch crew members, then load luggage, then board the passengers, it is a process that needs to be done. Overall would sure fly through Calgary again, as I always do. ;)

Honest review of YYC here. It's a nice airport, easy to get around and very helpful employees. It's a bit on the small side and that's a bad thing. The airport keeps getting more passengers and it simply can't handle it. (New terminal opening in 2016 and should help alot) But currently, the terminal is too small. Good luck if you're arriving from the US or international. The customs line can take almost 2 hours if there's alot of flights or a big plane coming in. Baggage claim for the US and international flights is too small and there's luggage piling on top of others. When departing to the us, customs can also be a pain if there's lots of flights and food options on flights to the US/international is a joke. There's 1 tims, a bar , burger king and a starbucks.

Flights to Canada are fine, good food options, good baggage claim, good service throughout. Terminal looks slightly dated but there is wi-fi and decent shopping around the terminal. If you park here, park at the outside lot (5 min walk to the terminal) i think its around $45 a week compared to the $100 they'll charge you for the covered lot.

Overall, decent terminal, canadian bound flights are much better, international and US can be a nightmare and watch out the customs when arriving. (canadian customs). they desperately need that new terminal.

They have a newer wing which has many more options for food than before. The airport is not as big as some so there is way less walking than lots of other airports. The have a shuttle too if you can't walk long distances.

The airport was strangely not busy but with covid I welcomed that. Very well laid out and although it was spread our, there were a lot of accomodation for it. Moving walkways, shuttles etc. Well planned and fairly easy to navigate.

If you try to check in less than 1 hour before your flight leaves the kiosk tells you to get in the big line up?! This makes no sense. I arrived at the air port 1 hour before my domestic flight left and was told I was too late. I got a new flight, went through security and watched my orginal plane finish being boarded. Thanks a lot

Would be great if the Canadian TSA knew what was actually banned instead of arbitrarily stealing expensive hardware because they don't understand the rules and are too scared to find an adult to read the prohibited items list out loud to them.

Calgary International Airport is close to Calgary city.
Use Air Canada direct to Japan and Canada to travel in the Banff area.

The measuring instrument that anyone can use is in a slightly different place from the counter.
By the way, the weight unit notation when you deposit at the counter seems to be different.

Check-in work has been completed from the PC in advance, so Air Canada ticketing is easy
Japanese notation guidance is also possible!

Well I arrived at this airport enrout to Edmonton to take my kids to the West Edmonton mall and to stay at Fantasyland for 3days. Immigration asked me if we didn't have anything like that in the US to have come to Canada. I would have thought it was a good thing to come with my family and spend my very hard earned US dollars in the Canadian economy. I removed two stars for that very unwelcoming question! In general, the airport is nice with good healthy food choices.

Worst airport in Canada. Poorly laid out. Poor website - dead link to terminal maps, highest airport improvement fee in the world. Lounges are low selection, low service. One of a handful of nexus trusted traveller airports in Canada but the only one that has no separate line through security. yyc does not trust the pre screening or the staff do not have the training to know what nexus means

My 13 year old daughter was travelling alone and her mask broke. She was forced to purchase a new one at the giftshop for $10.00. Ten dollars for a DISPOSABLE mask. Total money grab; profiting off of Covid-19 and people having to buy a mask because they have to wear one. I was very unhappy to hear about this.

If i could give negitive i would all doors locked but 6 and the one side of 6 broken so everyone has to walk right next and cram in the door, then no distancing 3 flights same time in a small area while the other side has no flights and empty, i will be going for covid testing after being put in this situation and will avoid air travel at all costs in calgary, they are not practicing what they are preaching.

What a beauty airport. Sure beats London. Lots of places to eat and they have this cool tram thing if you have a long way to go in the airport. I was walking through to get to my gate and I couldn't believe how much more there was in the airport. The only thing that would give it 5 stars would be more charging stations/chairs. I was walking through to a C gate and I was looking and there were barely any charging seats at the gates.

A clear-cut airport with short distances and fast processes. From check-in to check-in and boarding everything went smoothly and well coordinated. I think it's super before the check in of Air Canada baggage car, so you can still quickly see if his bags are packed properly. The Mietwagwnzentrum is located directly across from the terminal.
