Cafe Milano Review

The place to see DC celebrities from Joe Biden to Rudy Giuliani and a couple of senators with Wolf Blitzer as an extra plus all the others that I probably did not recognize.

The food was excellent starting with the octopus and finishing with the veal Milanese.

As you can imagine this is a higher end kind of place and accordingly priced and i thank our host for inviting.

Sadly we had a terrible dining experience - we ordered the gnocchi, seafood linguine and the black cod, and we didn t like ANY of them. The only redeeming factors were the wine and the cheesecake dessert, both of which were delightful.

I am big fan of old fashioned and this place has the best old fashioned if the girl bar tender makes it . Also there Food Is excellent. I love my buffalo mozzarella and I can Promis they have the best mozzarella in the United States and been to Italy.

I really enjoyed this restaurant! Great Italian dishes, great wine choices and our service was excellent. They even sell cigars and have a place where you can smoke them.

Beautiful place, very tasty lobster, delicious tiramisu, good service, but you have to make a reservation and they still make you wait.

Good food, expensive, service too pushy for my taste

Eh... I just don't know if I can really get behind this place. The food wasn't terrible, nor was the service.

However, the venue is played up in a decent area, with quite high menu prices, and a pretty upscale feel to the environment. The food, however, just wasn't there. I could have truly managed putting something more appetizing together in my own kitchen, or a restaurant that averages about a third of the menu price.

Reserved a table for last Saturday, the restaurant was really crowded as normal for a Saturday but the tables have a nice space between them so it wasn't bad, but it was really not easy to talk to each other. But again it was Saturday. The food was great, the food was great, I got the Burrata and Tortelloni con zucca and amaretto, amazingly good!! My friend that she is also Italian got the risotto and this one was a little hard it wasn't cook all the way so that was a little disappointing. The waiter came to our table 2 times only one for the water, and the second for the order. Didn't saw it until the end when I had to call him because I found a piece that seems plastic inside my tiramisu', and I showed him. The manager Biaggio came right away and explained to me that was liquid sugar that condensate and didn't melt all the way in the process, he was very pleasant and offered us a round of limoncello for the inconvenience. Very nice of him. I will surely will want to go back, because I want to try something more. They have some plates here that I saw only in Italy and you csn taste the freshness and the quality in it. :)

Always packed on Saturday night, but great food, great service, fun place for beautiful people to see and be seen.

I ve always loved cafe Milano. Admittedly, If you have an inattentive server, the experience is subpar. However the menu is great I ve never had a bad meal, and they know how to anticipate your needs. Also, great place for people watching if you re a political nerd like I am. Whenever I am in DC, this is where I head.

Classic DC "see and be seen" establishment; that said, fair food and subpar service make Cafe Milano less than worth it. Not recommended. Very expensive.

I dont usually leave bad reviews but wasn't happy with my experience at this restaurant. The food wasn't great, and I just expected more from this place. I had a reservation and they sat me 45 minutes late. I watched them bring in an extra table to sit a table of eight that arrived after me as well as two couples that also arrived after I did. They also took their jackets for them and didnt offer this service to us. I guess if your name isn't well known in the district, it doesn't matter if you're a foodie or how much money you are willing to spend, you won't receive good service here. Our server however was very sweet and did give us normal customer service, so not everything was bad, but not a great start.

Exceptional Service, Amazing Food, Wondering drinks and wine selection. I would return again and again!!

I had made a reservation for St Valentines day. I took my wife there. We had to wait for 10 min to get seated despite the reservation. There were as many employees as clients so the place too noisy, hectic and chaotic with employees running around all the time - obviously there is nothing romantic about this. We ordered a salad for about 22 dollars which contained primariy some leaves and one tiny feta cheese. Both main courses did not taste good. Frozen ravioli from Shoppers would taste same or may be even better. The dough was hard. The waiter did not once come to our table to ask how we were doing and if everything was good. Even when my wife and I were going over the menu he looked so impatient as if he wanted us to order, eat and leave quick to vacate the table for a next client. He wouldn't give us information about the meals, I had to ask him questions myself. Basically without eating anything solid, without meat or drinking alcohol we ended up paying over a 100 bucks for even the atmosphere wasn't romantic. The service, the food were worse than any other Italian restaurant in the DMV.

Convenient to my office for business lunch or early dinner, recommend the calamari salad or fresh ahi tuna salad.

Classic Italian cuisine with some non Italian choices. Went for lunch. All good items were perfectly prepared. Service was excellent. Heads up, it is pricey but lives up to its pricing.

Been coming here for nearly 10 years whenever I can. Amazing food. Always good people watching. Amazing service.

I took advantage of the Winter Restaurant Week to try Cafe Milano. If this is indicative of the food, both taste and quality, then I am puzzled of why this place is so popular. If I could had given 1.5 stars I would had. The only saving grace was the friendly service of the waiter although the food runners need a little more attention and finesse. But the food, it was mediocre at best. An onion soup that was bland with only flavor of salt, a roasted veal so filled with fat that I don't believe it was veal. If it was it was a very chubby calf. And an Italian cake that was a poor rendition of a fruit tart with a deformed shell and very little fruit. The whole experience left me wondering why this place is so popular. For me there is no way I will return, there are way too many great restaurants in D.C.

We consistently get excellent food and great service when we come here. The chef is native to Italy and is the owner-operator so it doesn't get more authentic than that here in the states. We are always treated well and will continue to patronize this local small business. It's tucked away in a hidden corner in Wolf Ranch, but if you are looking for reasonably-priced authentic Italian food, I highly recommend.

Very bad service, slow, unprofessional, the waiter was rude and argumentative. The food quality was not comparable to the price. Not sure what happen to this place but I won't recommend moving forward.

Outstanding, a really Italian service and Italian food

A blonde lady at the front desk made us wait in line just to draw in more customers and make it look like its packed when the restaurant was actually empty inside. I went inside and asked if they were open and she said yes and that we had to wait for happy hour. So I said I m confused as to why we cant sit. I didnt care for the happy hour deal and we just wanted to eat. She said- there is nothing to be confused, its actually very simple(with a rude tone) There s the line, go wait on it . I was with my nine year old daughter and we were tired and hungry so we ended up leaving. Had lunch here the day before and the food was decent, nothing special.

The food wasn t bad. Bring earplugs cause this place is LOUD! Not the place for an intimate dinner.
