The kai lan was so fresh I wouldn't be surprised if it came from the backyard! Mango salad was GOOD, too! Overall great food but too bad the airconditioning was so cold!

AVOID EVEN IF YOU HAVE TO GO HUNGRY ! NOT KIDDING.
Worst service ever. Multiple orders were mistakenly taken and staff had other people s order given to us amid this COVID situation. Other diners would not like their food to come to our table too!
Staff were extremely rude and started to throw tantrums and banged on stuff beside our table. Very lousy team and management working in this chain of FNB. We can get better service even in our local Hawker centres.
Totally not worth the price paid . Wouldn t dine here even if it s free after receiving such rude service.
The food was good and affordably priced but took a while before it was served.
Had the lemongrass tea which tasted more like lemonade than lemongrass. Hardly any lemongrass flavour/scent and the drink was served with a thin, dried out strand of lemongrass leaf.
Order kang kung, honey fried chicken, clear paste tong yum soup, and seafood phad siew thai (I think). Food quality was good, portions were big. Phad thai has wok hei with generous amount of seafood. Quite worth the price considering the portion and environment. Wide variety of choices and some new thai dishes which I'd try next time. Will come again!
had ordered mango sticky rice and spicy mango salad. I should say, i had the worst mango sticky rice of my life. and the spicy mango salad was also not good. since these two are my favourite, i think i can rate the best and the worst and this was the worst so far. the mango was sour to the extreme, the coconut milk wasn't sweet enough, the rice was super cooked and jammy. will never order from here again!
Appalling food and service. We paid abs walked out leaving the food abs no one even batted an eyelid or asked if everything was ok. Truly terrible experience
Each time I step into Basil, I leave reminding myself not to return. Service has no standard, and tonight, it felt like I walked into the home of a reluctant housewife behind the counter. Poor service attitude and poor language. I was told to sit at a table for four persons and it was close to another table that had a lady flipping her long hair towards me. Couldn't imagine having my food in that space. I changed my mind about eating there. Glad I did.
Food is good but the service is pretty bad. Super slow and understaffed. Multiple tables were complaining.
On the positive side, the best roast chicken ever!
Service from the staff here is nice and pleasant, and they try their best even though the outlet was crowded yesterday on a Friday night. Background music here is nice and relaxing. The prices here are really reasonable and portions are bigger compared to other similar Thai restaurants out there.
Food wise, I think it was pretty good overall. I would personally recommend diners to come during off peak hours as it would be less crowded and experience will be better. Do try the food from Basil when you are nearby. There are many rave reviews on the food. The Thai milk tea is one of the best out there too.
Took forever for the food to come. Pineapple fried rice was a joke and the salad had uncooked stuff. Not worth the money.
Followed some of the review recommendations and ordered green beef curry and basil minced chicken.
Meat portions were too small to justify the high prices. The curry had a few scraps of meat. Taste was average, similar to what you could get at food court thai stalls.
Taste being average was fine, but the portion was just too stingy.
Nice and clean Thai restaurant with great food and atmosphere. There is a great collection of vegetarian/vegan menu to choose from.
The tofu pad thai and tom yum mushroom soup are really delicious. Will definitely come back or order delivery
Slow slow slow...... Guess the kitchen prioritize deliveries....and the food is not as good as Nakhon Thai food which is just few mins walk away
Waited 45 minutes and they only served us one dish. And the place wasn't even crowded on a Sunday night. Cancelled the rest of my order and not coming back here again.
The food here is nice Heard many compliments about this place.
Food is good, I really like their new menu. Staff on the other is horrible, completely indifferent to their customers. They just throw food on the table without saying a thing and can't manage to serve all ordered items. Stay away!
Good Phad Thai, Tom Yum soup not too spicy and balanced. Serves brown rice which is a plus. Vermicelli Salad very fresh.
Delicious Thai indulgence if you re in a mood to savour some Thai goodness.
Wow some of the worst service I ve ever had. Happened to stop in as I was in the area looking for lunch but I really wish I would have checked the reviews first! Food is mediocre & expensive, but the rude and chilly service left an impression.
Extremely slow service. Unappetizing food. Waste of time and money
Don't know what happened since the rebrand but the operation here is really badly run. The food was okay. Until the end of our dinner I still haven't gotten my replacement drink for what they made wrongly (I asked for no sugar and the waiter repeatedly said it was no sugar but it's obviously sugared. I had to go to the counter for the floor manager to say it's not possible to have it with no sugar). And she said how about changing it to green tea, I said great and went back to wait for the drink.
There's only 1 waiter (the poor overworked Indian guy who can barely understand me and looks confused at every question) on Sunday evening to run the whole floor while the manager and drink maker stood behind the counter. What is this? Why do you need one guy making the drinks? And he can't even do it properly. I was watching him and he took a good 3-5 minutes to make 1 drink. We ordered 2 each of two drinks and they all arrived midway after the food at different times, one didn't arrive at all and another at the end of our meal. Don't you make the same drinks at the same time? He was obviously just pretending to be busy. He also confused the poor waiter and me by sending him over with sugar tubs when I asked to confirm there's no sugar.
At the end I went over to pay the bill and cancel the drink and the floor manager just said oops and the guy also forgot.
The food is also no longer as good, portions became smaller too, which is fine. Serving them on bigger plates doesn't help. It's the service that is really lacking. I'm just really pissed cause I tried to be patient but even the floor manager and the drink maker didn't remember/bother to correct the issue. And watching them just stand behind the counter while the waiter was working was extra offensive.
We're definitely not coming back here anymore. I used to like this place. Total disappointment.
I'm also still hungry. This is nonsense.
Dont know why this place doesn't have more stars. I thought the food was very good. Easy ordering on the iPad, fast service, and great tasting food. I had the honey chicken and it was tasty! The red curry was also good. Definitely worth a meal here.
The staff did not get our orders right, orders come rather slow and their service is poor!!
Delicious food, great vegetarian options, very good portions
Taste is unbalanced. Portion is meh. Not worth a visit.
Delicious thai food. Had the seafood tom yum glass noodle. Right amount of savory and sour.
The food was nice but the customer service need an improvement. My friend and I was standing outside for about approximately 30 min to be called in but the staff did not approach us but instead he assumed that we were in the same group with the person infront. We even need to go in the restaurant and told the staff how many person we have in order to get a place. They should indicate if it's a walk in or we need to wait to be serve in order to avoid confusion. When we tried to clarify with the staff, he only give excuses and no apology given. Was quite disappointing.
Slow and forgetful service for food that is certainly not worth the wait.
Tall male Indian staff walked off in the midst of our conversation, had to ask another staff to take our order. Rude and unpleasant. Had the new Thai seafood hot pot. Tomyam soup was too sweet with little to no spiciness. $39.90 before tax for about 5 pieces of prawns (not fresh), mussels, fish fillet (not sure what fish) and crab sticks each plus some clams and a squid. For the quality, I felt ripped off. Thai iced tea had also no taste of tea but came with hints of sour.
Sunday night, not so crowded. Waited a while but food taste great
One of the best Thai food in the area. Cooked by Thais
We were waiting close to half an hour for our turn to be called in for a seat. From the transparent glass window, we did notice that they were a few seats empty. But we awaited to be called in because no staff called us in to check safe entry and all before entering as currently that is the protocol in most food outlets. To our disappointment, a couple after us was called in which took us by surprise as we waited much longer. When we went to clarify as a courtesy , the staff blatantly replied he thought we were together in a group though it was clearly obvious the two of us were standing away. And we reached much later that the couple infront of us. There was no service recovery or apology given when we clarified. It was a very upsetting. But the food was great on the positive note. I hope in future other customers are ushered in so that this doesn't happen as it does quite dampen the feeling when we enter.
Came with my wife a few days ago. Food is nice generally, will be perfect if less oily. Service is good. Will be back. Thanks!
Not a bad place for Thai food, but the curry chicken cannot make it. Only the prawn cake and vegetable taste good according to a Singaporean average taste bud. If you do come here, you must try out the prawn cake.
It s sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo good
We waited 25 mins and found out that they missed out our order . Horrible service
Very good service and food. Must try!
Portions are generous but for those with big appetite, you can consider ordering an additional portion. Most people I dined with here commented that the serving is sufficient, so I am not sure why some people think otherwise. Many of my friends who came with me love the food from Basil too!
Just be patient during peak hours as this restaurant is popular and have lots of takeaway orders and sometimes packed. Would recommend that you come before 12pm for lunch or before 7pm for dinner to beat the crowd.
Bright and Clean restaurant with friendly staff. The mango sticky rice is delicious.
extremely poor and rude service. How do they hire such rude staff?
Great food, the Thai Chendol is a must have dessert!
I recommend their Red TomYum seafood soup with noodle
Surprised at the reviews as I was in the other day and the food was fantastic. They did take forever to serve my drink strangely. How long does it take to remove a beer bottle top?!?
Great Thai food. Veggies are particularly fresh and tasty
As many of the customers have mentioned, the service here is good and food is really nice and affordable. Staff are friendly and helpful. Portions are quite big and food is value for money. I often dine here and also order take away sometimes. Will continue to support Basil.
Food is okay, portion is a little too small for the price paid.
This place is totally horrible with disgusting food :)
Poor service, don't provide tap water, food came out in strange order. Curry came out 10 min before rice
The food was very good. But the service was slow and they bring bits by bits. We couldn't eat all at the same time.
Very good food. Staff was very welcoming and cheerful. Place to get authentic Thai food. Service also was pretty quick.
Fried chicken is very dry and salted egg squid is way too salty and watery. Not worth the price. Service is not so good too
Super expensive for what you get. $12 for seafood soup but it has 2 tiny prawns, 2 tiny fish slices (more like cubes tbh), 2 tiny squid rings and some mushrooms. Flavour is below average. Don t recommend.
Worst service ever. Bad attitude from the staffs, served the wrong dish, and the most sour mango ever tasted.
Very poor service of the cashier.
I will not recommend this restaurant.
The Thai food here is very nice . Some dishes are made with basil which is their speciality. Best time to come is before 12:30pm or before 6:30 pm as it would be less crowded. They have recently launched a new menu starting from Oct 2020.
I have heard many compliments from people about Basil. I am disappointed to see some negative reviews. I think the customer service is good and food is generally prepared quite promptly, unless it is a super busy time during peak hours.
Some popular dishes here include Basil Chicken, stuffed chicken wings, tom yum soup, pad Thai seafood, pad Thai tofu, Omelette, Pad Kee Mao Chicken, Masaman Curry. Many options are available for vegetarians.
Food was alright, wait was short, and ambience was good. Staff was friendly as well.
I live nearby and often frequent Basil as some of the dishes here are unique and made with a touch of basil. I love the thai street prawn omelette, green curry chicken, phad kee mao chicken, and red tom yum hot pot.
The service is pretty good here and I always enjoy my visit here. Also the portions are big, so for small eaters, you can actually order 1 main course to share. Great music and nice hanging out here with friends and family.
Wonderful service. Delicious food. Most importantly, the price is right.
One of my favourite place in Holland Village. The food here is really good and staff are nice. Environment and music is great. Portions are quite generous and price is value for money. Must visit when you are at Holland Village! Their green curry and massaman curry are really yummy.
Flavour is quite strong for me. If you are going to order their royal set (around $15 nett), I recommend you to choose rice as a base.
You can order by using iPad.
Food was great but not the service. Service crew were slow and only 1 Chinese lady was working. She had to ensure check in and temperature taking, placing order, serving food, take care of take outs, payment and delivery. The other service crew were doing things which were not urgent like placing utensils at the back.
Will not visit despite the good taste of food.
My curry was good, my friend got veg curry with spoiled corn.
And one song in playlist for a whole hour, it was waaaaay too bad
Food is surprising good - we had the prawn tom yum soup, tofu pad thai and chendol. Tom yum was full flavoured, prawns were fresh. Service was slow though. We walked in on a Wednesday evening and nobody attended to us. We found our own table and ordered the food via the tablet.
SUPER SLOW SERVICE!!! we waited forever for our food and over 30 mins for dessert!! And the wait was NOT worth it !!! we initially ordered a yellow curry which apparently was temporarily out of stock, which was not indicated on the menu and it took them over 10mins to convey to us that we should order something else. While the staff is friendly they are inefficient and slow. It's NOT WORTH the time and money!! If you are craving Thai food in Holland village go to Nakhon kitchen (despite their long queues their service is fast and food is way better) . Or better still go to Joe's kitchen in Alexandra!!!
Food and service are great, but if there is a huge and loud party inside, be prepared to not be able to communicate anymore.
The Thai Seafood hotpot is delicious and fairly priced
AVOID. We have just left the restaurant and the food we ordered, uneaten, but paid for (ouch) Frankly it was inedible, it was lazy lazy chef food, everything done for speed, convenience and low cost, definitely not for taste or quality of any sort. Granted it is not billed as a fine dining establishment but I haven t had such bad food for some time. AVOID.
Used to enjoy the food here especially the vegetarian dishes when I was veggie and I came quite often but was thoroughly disappointed the last couple of times I came.
Food was terrible and I don t say that often... tiny portion for $13 and underwhelming and tasteless. Green curry (in a rice bowl sized bowl) came cold with a cold egg and hard rice with some morsels of meat. Tom yum soup was the worst most bland boiled water and we had to add fish sauce and soya sauce and chilli to make it edible.
What happened?????????
Passable thai fare for the masses. Absolutely satisfactory, but lacks any sort of flair.
Fast service. Nice environment.
Great for meat lovers. Place with great vibes. Has out door seating as well. It has great music playing in the streets if you sit outdoors. They don't have vegan /vegetarian options but you can request for one. I
Here, I've ordered a tofu dish with rice
Typical thai food was average. Not too bad but not good enough for you to want to come back!
Honestly found this Thai food place quite solid. The offerings and the food quality is great. Service is not bad, although it can definitely be improved to be more meticulously done. One thing though, is the amount of oil used that's overflowing, but that's Thai food for you. I enjoyed my chilli and basil chicken, and my crispy prawn omelette. The broccoli and assorted mushrooms are also good as a palette cleanser!
What happened ? Used to be excellent, now very poor service and food quality.
Very nice Thai food, should try it if you are at the Holland village area. Some dishes uses the basil leaf hence the restaurant is called Basil. This makes Basil different from other Thai restaurants.
Must try dishes at Basil include Green Curry, Basil Chicken Wings, Prawn Omelette and Basil Chicken and Massaman Curry. Other popular items to try are Prawn Cake, Fish Cake and Mango Salad. For vegetarians, there are many options available too.
very very poor service. no training of staff on how to interact with customers. came to the place for self pick up, the staff just told us to wait outside, so waited for a long long time. had to ask 2 times when our food was ready, and finally got the answer that they put the food on the pickup table without telling us- sounded very irresponsible. wasted my money and time.
Food is nice, but better take a day off to wait for the food.
The staff is bad attitude. We are asking question and the staff didn t answer clearly and walked away. Didn t bother to help us to take order too. Very rude service.
The place is nice and clean, staff is friendly. The food, how ever, is not at all Thai Food. It doesn't have the flavour or taste of Thai food. It tastes just like Chinese food for me. The mango salad and pat Thai at 6th Avenue food court are much much tastier than the one served here. Will never come back.
The staff is courteous and professional. The food taste like authentic Thai food as the cook is originated from Thailand. During peak hours the service can be slow but it shows they don t compromise on the food quality.
