REVIEW OF FARMHOUSE:
REVIEW OF FARMHOUSE:
If you re looking for luxury, this is not for you. This is an old rustic farmhouse that has lots of charm. It s very spacious and easily houses 2 or 3 families.
I found the upstairs bedrooms quite warm in the summer and there is no AC. If you have a portable AC, I would recommend bringing it along. That said, there were plenty of fans in the house.
The beds were ok for comfort. I ve seen better and I ve seen MUCH worse.
The kitchen is very small. Not really any counter space either. If you re planning on a big meal requiring many components, pots, mixing bowls, etc... you ll be crammed. The kitchen is well stocked with utensils, dishes, etc...
The hot water tank is limited, so if you re staying with a large group, space your showers out. We ran out of hot water one evening and some people had to wait until the next morning.
There is a washer but no dryer.
The trail that leads from the house to the shoreline is quite grown over and is not be suitable for young toddlers or those that have difficulty walking. Walking time depends on the person, but it took me about 10 minutes (37 years old). If you re walking with toddlers or slower moving older adults, it could take 15-20 minutes. At the shoreline, it is a very steep cliff with no apparent (safe) access to the beach. Beautiful view though. We were lucky enough to see some seals!
My only real complaint is that this property does not have a view or beach access. The house is surround by trees. At night, we could hear the faint sound of waves crashing in the distance.
There are a couple restaurants in either direction; however, the hours of operation are limited at times. Check in advance.
There is a general store about 5-10 minute away; however, it s very limited selection of items and liquor. Further up the road, 35 minutes, is a little grocery store (Freshmart). Even further up, 55 minutes, is another small grocery store (co-op). Gas stations are few and far between, so plan for that.
Message to owner: I m sure you re trying to save money on power, but an 8,000 BTU portable AC upstairs would be great for future guests.
