Review of Cabot Shores

A unique experience for sure, I would just plan be...

A unique experience for sure, I would just plan better next time - now that I have experienced it once. My friend and I stayed at Cabot Shores on September 12th in the Luna Dome. I can't use a better word to describe our experience than unique. The facility using the name "resort" may be a little misleading for some, I would describe the facility more like a wilderness commune. It felt like being at Summer camp. Although relaxing - our dome was attached to the Apple Dome (which is fine) except we left like we were totally interrupting the romantic getaway for our neighbors as they used their hot tub and we sat at our fire pit (only a couple feet away from each other). We also received a call a couple days before we arrived to confirm our reservation (which was great) but at that time they asked if we wanted to buy tickets to a concert being held on the grounds - I definitely over estimated this concert with its $15/per person cost per ticket and felt a little ripped off in that I was told by fellow guests that they didn't have to pay, but still of course came and sat and watched the show (it should have been included in the cost of the rental). We also purchased the $30ea meal which was tasty but included a bowl of corn chowder to start, two barbecue chicken thighs, a helping of potato salad and some steamed vegetables (think your home cooked meal). Dessert was an extra $6 for some truffles or pie - we opted not to partake in that aspect of the meal. For campfire cooking - I felt this was perhaps a bit over priced. In total we spent $135, plus $30 for two 'concert' tickets and a $60 dinner. $225 for tenting seemed like a lot - but I can't say we didn't enjoy it. I definitely recommend doing your research on which cottage or dome or yurt you book, plan for a very "summer camp" feel to your stay and perhaps consider bringing your own BBQ and food.
