Over the past 3 months we ve had to replace 2 heat/air units in our home ( upstairs and down). I worked with David Stowe on both projects; he is very knowledgeable , friendly, and professional. Mr. Stowe is very straightforward with pricing and is low pressure on the sales side of things. The crews he brought to complete the two installs did excellent work. The downstairs unit presented some challenges for the guys including getting the outside unit installed before the arrival of a hurricane, but Cody, Trent and the crew got it done. We plan to use c/a for our future heat and air needs.

I live in PA. and have a home in Merritt , N.C. I was in PA. , my girlfriend in Merritt and she had a heating problem with the ice storm.

I called C/A in the late afternoon and they had a technician at my home the following morning .
The problem was quickly determined and resolved .
Thank you for great service .

Worst company out there. Had to use them initially due to a warranty company. However after nearly 2 years and 10 visits they have not yet fixed the issue of my unit leaking coolant and freezing up in both winter and summer months. The warranty was only good for 1 year so I've been paying for them to "fix" issues that were covered under my warranty period. Done with this company. Obviously they are not very competent.

C/A did the install on our new build home 6 years ago! They did an outstanding job, from planning, to install everything was awesome! We couldn't be happier with the two super efficient units we have. Their service after the sale has been nothing but superb! We have an extended warranty and have the service contract to keep our units in tip top shape. Ron is our service technician! He is the best in the industry! Super knowledgeable, top rate work, and always cleans up afterwards! Everyone at C/A treat you l8ke family and try very hard to take care of you like family. Highly recommend especially if you buy and get your service from them! You won't find any better A/C company than C/A!
This morning (one of the hottest days of the year) I called them because our main unit outside fan was not working properly. Ron came out this afternoon and got things back up and running same day! Simply Awesome! Thank you C/A!

C/A always does a great job for us. They are prompt, professional, and honest. They use quality equipment and do quality work. Walt and crew just installed a split unit at my home, and went above and beyond the call of duty to make sure everything was right, including some existing plumbing and electrical infrastructure. They have installed the systems at my home and office, and I m very satisfied with both systems.

They don't even deserve one star, but couldn't post without it! I used this company back after the storm. Suspicious activity was carried out. After the job, I was missing some important items. Be careful who you trust!

I don't have a choice but to give one star. I will NEVER give this company as a referral. Our central air went out in August. They came out the first day for 20 minutes to say no time for a leak test. Next time they came out they refused to tell me what the problem was because I was not the owner. The owner is my boss and gave them permission to talk to me. I did setup the appointment, it was OK to talk to me then. Two of their staff members were so unprofessional that one of them said "well I don't have air conditioning either". A week went by with no calls or emails to myself or my boss the owner. I ended up having an asthma attack and having to call another company. Now today a month later they send an email to my boss about payment saying "they have been unsuccessfully contacting you by phone or email" really? What happen to contacting us about getting air???? I even sent an email to the service manager about the poor treatment from the staff and about the services not received. NEVER RECEIVED A RESPONSE BACK! The invoice number is 82959.

Unfortunately for me I was in the process of purchasing a home during hurricane Florence. The home was fine but needed new ductwork and a new fan motor, which was quoted before the hurricane. After the hurricane hit I called numerous times to find out when we may possibly be on the schedule so we could get a/c. The sellers chose to use C/A so we just went with it, for 2+ weeks I was jerked around by the front desk and told 4 times that she'd call the technician to find out and 4 times my name and telephone number was taken down. She once even told me, "Well we're just being grateful for the little things", when I tried to see when they would be out to service the unit because at that time it was 88 degrees in the home. I understand that many had unfortunate circumstances occur after the hurricane but the commentary was rude and unprofessional especially when all I had asked was when we were on the schedule.

When I finally got an answer, 2 and a half weeks after I started trying to call them, they said it would be another 2+ weeks due to the fact that they had 450 jobs they had to complete. That is some seriously poor management, why on earth would you take 450 jobs and then string people along for weeks when you know it will be a month before you can get to them? I absolutely could not go another 2+ weeks without a/c so I called another a/c company and they were able to come take care of us that same week and they remembered my name and phone number.

The last insulting thing about my experience with C/A was that when I called to cancel their services, they couldn't even find the quote or my file.

It's a shame because I am in the real estate industry and I will never use this company or suggest them to anyone else. That's the word I've heard from others in my industry as well. Just don't do it.

No call No show. Took off work for not even a professional level call to inform me of anything. But i guess they have too much business to care about even calling me and rescheduling. I'll give my money to a different company.

We've had C/A to our home on two occasions and have been extremely happy on both. They were prompt in getting out to us, had great guys install and follow up. There were a couple hiccups on the install, but once we called them, they were out the same day to fix little issues. They stayed extra time to make sure we knew how to operate everything and to make sure everything ran optimally. Very happy with them and I certainly would recommend them to anyone.

Do not use them, extremely unethical billing practice - they WILL price gouge you. We are in the HVAC business and live in a different market when we tried them for a very simple service call - replaced a $20 dollar part in less than an hour and billed over $600. Will never use again and suggest that others look elsewhere.

I work for a contracting company that has hired you and Workman ship was difficult and you had to return to our house multiple times failing inspections you didn't clean up after your self I always had to go behind your guys and clean up after them ridiculous

Full review on BBB site, had to condense this version in order to post:

FACT: October 2017 I hired C/A to install a Goodman heat pump ($3650) after my original unit from 2005 stopped working. My house is a rental in Havelock, NC. I live in a different state, and I use a property manager.

FACT: I had one tenant in the house from Jan 2018- Feb 2019.

FACT: Feb 2019 I listed my house for sale. It was unoccupied from Feb 2019 until May 2019. May 7, my prospective buyer's home inspector came out:

"7.3 Cooling Functionality
Comments: Repair or Replace
This item didn't function as intended. The reason the system didn't function as intended is unknown. A licensed mechanical contractor should perform any HVAC or ventilation repair, replacement, evaluation or consultation.
Location - The exterior condenser unit comes on for less than 10 seconds and shuts off. It remains off for a few minutes then the process repeats itself."

FACT: May 8 I called C/A to have them look at it, the soonest they could schedule was Monday, May 13.

FACT: May 8 realtor suggested another HVAC who could come out May Closing date was May 15, I scheduled this HVAC ho found:

"Inspector complaint unit runs for 10 seconds and shutsoff. Upon further inspection, found unit running very high liquid pressure of 522psi and sub cooling and superheat readings were very high. This is indicative of a system that has been overcharged with Refrigerant or has a faulty indoor TXV. Indoor temperature was 87 degrees outdoor temperature was varying between 69-70, system ran for over 45 minutes cooled house to 78 degrees downstairs and 84 degrees upstairs. Unit shuts off in the day time due to the high pressure safety system. Recommend removing all refrigerant and charging by weight according to manufacturers specifications which is 5.5 lbs and adjusting according. Unit is still under manufacturer's warranty, any parts needed will be covered by warranty."
$587.84 estimated cost.

FACT: May 9 I authorized this HVAC to do the work in spite of having arranged the appointment on Monday May 13 with C/A, since the service tech stated that even if they came out Monday, the work might take until Wednesday (May 15)- if they have to order replacement parts.

FACT: May 9 report from HVAC repair:

"*Update** Removed 6.5 lbs of 410A Refrigerant from system and flushed enter system with nitrogen. Nitrogen flowed through the system freely which indicated no obstruction in the lines or closed txv. Performed vacuum on unit to EPA requirement of 500 microns or below (490 microns). Recharged system to initial manufacturer specs of 5.9lbs of 410A. Ran system for 20 min and adjusted refrigerant charge accordingly, total system charge of 6.6lbs of 410A. System pressures were stable and within manufactures specs, air out of supply vents was 53.1-54.3 degrees. Final analysis indicates initial installation was not performed correctly by original installers, all indications show system had non-condensables in Refrigerant (air and moisture). System is currently functioning as intended. 1 yr warranty on all repairs made to specific discrepancy noted by home insp report only"
Cost: 613.17

FACT: I did get in touch with the tenant from 2018 who said system didn't operate normally. He did NOT put a work request in for the a/c. (He also stayed through Hurricane Florence in 2018 with no complaints.)

FACT: May 17 my phone call was returned by the owner of C/A, Anthony Lowe. In that phone call Mr. Lowe immediately stated that he would "not pay for someone else's work on a 3 year old system. I stated to Mr. Lowe that I would be providing a review to show people what could happen if they chose C/A for their business. He replied, "I would WARN you against doing that"

FACT: $3650+613.17= $4263.17 for a heat pump to function properly from C/A for 1 year and 8 months (no parts replaced).

FACT: They are A+ rated on the BBB website, however if your purchase is over 365 days old, you can't file a complaint with the BBB. You can only write a review.

Definitely buyer beware.

Quoted me $1500.00 for a repair that cost $112.00 in parts. Shopped it around and it is a $800.00 repair on the high end. How they are still in business baffles me. Read the other reviews. They claim it is industry pricing. If that is true others should not be 50% cheaper.

Thank you for clearing up a simple issue with mud dobbers clogging upthe intake. My husband has MS and can no longer do simple maintenance. When he called C/A (who we have used for many years) Doug came out and took care of it. If things couldnt get any worse, the temp gauge, a plug/prong in was corroded and Doug came to rescue. again. Yes, pricey coming back 3 days later...but with this wacky weather, one never knows when the heat will be needed again.
