Food was good but not special. Service was below average.

My daughter graduated today from college and we went for a celebration meal with her grandmother.. This was our first and last visit to your resteraunt. While the food was good, the service was horrific. Dustie was our waitress, she got our drinks, took our order and then disappeared... i had to ask another waitress if she went home.. The host took off half of the bill but even that did not compensate for the Worst service ever.

We have been to Butcher Block several times and it has been a good experience.Today was by far subpar. Our server was so slow for the early afternoon. He never came back to offer additional drinks, just brought brought the food and again for the bill. Our silverware was disgustingly dirty and so were our appetizer plates.

The staff does great work, They make you feel like an old friend, The food was amazing, on a nice summer evening you have to enjoy the patio.

Was hoping for better based on reviews but was really disappointed. Ordered appetizer at same time as the meal which never arrived but was in the bill until I told them it needed to be removed. The 16 oz. bone in ribeye was 8 oz. at best and mid rare order was brought out mid well.

Good food. Atmosphere, 4 out of 5. Slow (but good) service.

The server was fast and friendly, and very accommodating to my all-over-the-place family. She was apologetic when they were out of a certain dish, which was a-okay because all the food was excellent. The giant onion rings were dynamite, as was the Monster Burger. (I had the Big Steer sandwich the previous visit, and that was just alright, a bit dry.) The ambiance is very nice with colorful aquariums and rich woodwork and colors. It is a bit dim in there, though, and I needed to squint at the menu. Overall, a very nice evening out.

Awesome place to eat! They have good food, staff and they will warn you if there is going to be a long wait before the seat you! In addition their bar and patio are amazing to eat on!

One of the best places in cedar rapids. Good steak, good burgers, good kids meal choices even. A little expensive but worth it.

Nicely decorated. Comfortable atmosphere. Nice bar area. I had the porterhouse with brussel sprouts with almonds and rosemary red potatoes. Very delicious vegetables however, the steak was a bit chewy although cooked like i asked and was flavorful. A waitress walked around and kept taking slices of oranges from the bar and walking and eating them. Maybe she should have eaten before she came to work? I thought it was tacky. The wait staff was polite but not too interested in thier responsibility to patrons. Nothing too bad. Although they got taken care of.Overall a nice place for dinner. Maybe a good finger wagging at the staff by the manager is in order.

I have probably been here 100 + times since it's close to my house but tonight was perfect great service, great food and great atmosphere !

Visited today as part of our wedding anniversary date. The 10 oz New York strip steak and the half rack of ribs were ordered with the sides baked potatoes and was told by our server there was no potatoes so instead we got mashed potatoes. While eating our food other customers came into the restaurant and ordered baked potatoes with their meals and were not told there were no potatoes. Then I spoke with the manager who assured us they did have baked potatoes but as I explained that was part of the meal and the reason for wanting it, we should not have been told without checking there weren't any. The mashed potatoes tasted like boxed potatoes and the gravy taste like canned gravy , it was not hot when received. The green beans were tasty. The meats were delicious. We did receive 20% off of our bill.

Reservation for 30 and they gave the tables away. Don't expect much from this over-priced establishment.

The food was not done, cold bake potato, the steak was not cooked to my taste. However the waitress was very good. Price was $$$

The food and service was above average but not mind blowing. The interior needs to be deep cleaned; some fresh paint, get rid of the carpet, and some more modern decor would freshen it up.

I had a special which consisted of a half rack of ribs and chicken. Considering Cedar Rapids is probably not barbecue central, I was fairly impressed with the ribs. The chicken was bland but the barbecue sauce they put on it made it halfway decent.

This was a nice place for lunch. I had the ruben sandwich

We went out to eat with a group of people, a small group. The waiter was very nice but a few mistakes were made. One of the persons in our party I had to wait a little longer for her food because the waiter said he didn't like the appearance of the way it was made. My chili that was put in front of me was a large bowl oh, I had not taken a bite out of it as I was waiting for others to get their food about five minutes later the waiter came back said there was a mistake and took my chili and gave me a small bowl and brought me my turkey club sandwich. I thought it was a little strange he didn't leave the larger bowl of chili that had been sitting in front of me after all it was his mistake, I didn't need a larger Bowl but I thought it was such a waste to have thrown it away. My turkey club sandwich was on rye bread and I thought at least they would have mayonnaise on the sandwich but it was completely dry, it was palatable but it was very hard to chew and swallow. Other than that it was a nice experience.

Good service, great food! It's pretty expensive but it's definitely worth it!

Good food but super slow service on a busy night. However their patio for summer is sweet.

I ordered a Ribeye Steak and got Sirloin. It was over done, dry & couldn't even Chew it. Complained to hostess and she replied because of Covid the meat is selection is like this!!

Good drinks, but terrible wait. 15 minutes became 1 hour. We finally left. Can't even rate the food. Won't be back.

We love coming here. The kitchen lost our tick this night, but between our waitress and the manager they made up for it and apologized profusely. The food came out and was delicious as always. Cannot wait to come back for our next date night

Our party of five was seated shortly after we walked in. We ordered four steaks, two with salads and two with green beans and one cheeseburger with fries. The salads were a mix of greens, fresh and crisp, looked delicious. Green beans had almonds and bacon mixed in; loved it!. The steaks were all tender, juicy and flavorful and all the food arrived at the same time! Very happy with the food and service. Pricey but so worth it! We will be back.

We ordered a steak medium rare steak and it came out medium well to medium. Very surprised. We got better steaks at Texas Road House and Outback. Smothered Chicken w/mushrooms tasted good, but there was enough mushrooms for a whole nother meal or two. Atmosphere was good. People came and went. Appeared very popular. I thought the waiter was maybe the owner's high school kid helping out. But.....very knowledgeable, friendly and caring. Would I come here again? Yes, the patio was great and I would give them another chance.

I hate to do this because I was sooo looking forward to my first experience with the Butcher Block but the food was not good. I'm sure the Sea Bass is not what they are known for but if it's on the menu then do it right or take it off. It was way overcooked. I'm not even sure it was sea bass....tasted more like a very dry piece of cod. Same for the scallops. They were very tough along with the pork belly underneath. Disappointing.

Food took forever. Made sure to explicitly say to make sure my steak was well done with NO RED whatsoever. I get my steak and it's dripping with blood! NOT HAPPY WITH THIS PLACE.

We go quite a bit, because of the BLACK BEAN BURGER. LOVE IT. Service today was on point. But normally par at best.

HORRIBLE! Don't tell us it's a 20 minute wait and then 45 minutes later say only 10 more minutes after over an hour of waiting! Then to have you bring my kids raw fries and over cook our burgers Figure it out!!!!!!!!!! I rate you a ZERO!

Wait staff provided very good service. The kitchen provided excellent quality food. Or party of 4 each had a great dinning experience. This where you go to get a great steak.
