Very inflexible company. Only works according to their internal polies and standards. Very strict underwriting process (basically only acceptance if you're completely healthy and have never submitted a claim before). Also very inflexible in terms of policy contract duration (plans annually renewable).
Hence if you are looking for a customer oriented health insurance company in Hong Kong I would avoid them.

Lost my medical card. My HR helped me to post the form so that I can have a new one. I called 6 times to ask (my form took 9 days to be found!) and check if they received the form. All the people I spoke to said they never received a form by post. Mail in HK is just one day! And your office is just across my HQ Office. When my HR sent an e-mail to BUPA, in just 5 minutes they said they have received the form! My mail got hidden somewhere in a drawer or misplaced! Just be honest, instead of lying you never received any mail by post! My HR was upset because she even personally posted it just for me. Where's your mail sorter? On holiday?

Constantly advertise the efficiency of claims, how fast and convenient! All procedures followed the procedure, and today, three months later, it is still unprocessed. The inferiority can no longer be described.

Bad insurance company. Long processing time - 2 months and still not processed! Always takes a long time for customer service to answer phone calls. Also, the sales agent told lies just to sell policy. It's horrible.

Worst insurance for medical purposes on the planet. Worst customer service I've experienced in two years. Customer support and information they provide is rubbish. I could not have a bigger regret in the last few months other than committing to this god awful insurance company. If you value your health, consider ANYTHING else.

The worst unethical health insurance provider that...

The worst unethical health insurance provider that exists. They will refuse to cover more expensive medications even though they are necessary and claim "we don't cover this medicine" even though it is a mainstream medicine. I ended up having to have surgery and there was a surgical complication - which they also refused to cover claiming it was part of the original condition, despite it clearly being a result of having a surgery, not the condition. AVOID AT ALL COSTS - IT COULD COST YOU YOUR HEALTH.

Declined routine claims without proper explanation. The claim process is awkward and paper based. Claim refunds are split across several 'vouchers' which are hard to track. Calling them is no good - stuck on hold forever; when eventually answered you're transferred - to hold and start again. I have the 'premium' cover but it doesn't seem anything like that. Poor.
