If you love architecture, this is a magnificent building.
Too bad we couldn't inside since it is now a library for university students.
The security gard was kind enough to let us take picture in the lobby

As a kid I remember my Mom and Dad dragging me to this place on Saturdays to do their shopping. I hated going there because it was always packed with people and I found it boring! I do have to admit it was a nice place!

Part of southwestern law school now, the building still stands and is well maintained as one of the best examples of art decorating construction and design. The coolest feature to me is a saying on the front of the building: to build a business that will not know completion.

Very hyped up. It is beautiful to see but super small and lots of people. If you find free parking then definitely check it out but not worth it if you have to pay for parking. Unless you really want that picture. Which is totally Instagram worthy.

Once a year the Southwest Law School does a public tour and this year I was one of the few to get a ticket and thoroughly enjoyed seeing the wonderful restoration work that they have done. I hope this building never gets torn down, it is a work of art.

Lived in Koreatown over a period of several years and in multiple locations near here, and I'm old enough to remember going there when I was a kid to buy clothing. The building which is now the Southwestern Law School's library is a magnificent example of Art Deco accented with large sections of copper on every floor, all of which has turned an almost supernatural shade of green over the decades. Whenever I see it two words immediately come to mind: "Gozer Worshippers."

At one time Deco buildings were the default on Wishing Blvd. This building and the nearby Wiltern Theater building are two rare remaining examples of the original 1920s style in commercial buildings on Wilshire. Head East on Wilshire from the Bullocks building just a few blocks and once you pass MacArthur Park there a still some shining examples of the style in residential apartment buildings (some of them having originally been built as hotels). But most of the beautiful commercial buildings on Wilshire, the department stores, office buildings, etc. are long gone (though there are still some stellar examples downtown). This building absolutely must be preserved.

Historical landmark in the Mid-Wilshire district of Los Angeles. When built it was not only place for shopping, it was an experience, including high tea in restaurant. You may visit this art deco building and take as many photos as you want of the exterior but in order to see the inside of student union or law library must have permission. Must see this building!!

My grandmother was a mannequin (live floor model) ...

My grandmother was a mannequin (live floor model) at the Bullock's Wilshire when it first opened, and my mother bought her prom dress there. Over the years, both had enjoyed the tea room with their friends and often reminisced about their times in the building with great fondness. We attended a presentation about the building at the Egyptian Theater (which was followed by a screening of the always hilarious "The Women", appropriately) and it was announced that the Art Deco Society of Los Angeles had received permission from the Southwestern University Law School to stage a fashion show at the site, followed by a tour of the building. My mother joined the Art Deco Society on the spot, and brought me along so I'd have the chance to see the grand architectural masterpiece with my own two eyes. It did not disappoint, and what a treasure it was to spend the afternoon there with her, taking it all in. If you get the opportunity, don't think, don't hedge - just GO.

This building is amazing (obvi). The tour just reinforced my love of Art Deco. If you have the opportunity to see this building up close, take it! The murals are beautiful and make sure to look at the clocks. Each clock is different and unique.
