I climbed this tower at the end of December 1972 when the restaurant was still open, at the time there was neither the SHARD TOWER nor the LONDON EYE. As a result of the recent IRA attack, the guards were on their guard and we saw display cases replaced by wooden panels. The panoramic restaurant made a revolution every 30 minutes. The mechanism was restored in the 2000s so that it still works. The view is of course breathtaking. The duck with orange was very good and the service remarkable, but the restaurant closed in the early 80s, you can only go to the top of the tower by invitation. At the end of the meal, we received a certificate certifying that we had climbed the top of the tower.

A spectacular icon of twentieth century communications technology. While the iconic dishes have mostly gone nowadays (that technology has moved on), the building still towers over Fitzrovia. The tower itself isn't open to the public but there are several special open days and opportunities during the year, so seize the chance to go up if you can, the views from the top are simply spectacular.
