I suppose its end of camping season... And the stock us short... But there are no tables or Chairs put to view. And little else stock.
Had a bit of an issue with the online shop where my order wasn't going to be delivered on time.
Simon and the rest of the team went above and beyond and sorted out a replacement which saved our camping weekend.
Great customer service.
Forget 'Go Outdoors instead 'Go Elsewhere'
take your chances in store or better still buy on Amazon, next day delivery with Prime,
online system and customer service or lack of) make Go outdoors a complete shambles
Most of the things are too much expensive. Good diversity of camping tents.
My go to place for walking shoes. Make sure you have their discount card
So apparently if you re browsing for more than a minute, the staff at the tills give you the eye and the next thing, I have security hovering within 10 feet of me. Nice way to make a customer feel welcome guys.
Not often given to writing reviews but feel compelled to say something about the excellent service I received today at Go Outdoors Reading. My friend and I were looking for a new tent for our annual camping trip. There was a big choice and we were assisted by James C who was fantastic. He showed us lots of different tents and patiently waited while we ummed and ahhed the pros and cons before showing us the next tent. We found one that ticked all the boxes so are very pleased and James carried it to my car. Very long story but he then helped me find my son's phone which was lost while trying out all the tents! James found it with his colleagues after the store was closed - nothing was too much trouble. Thank you for a good shopping experience - I'll be back.
Sure a great addition to the Brunel Shopping Park. Go Outdoors is a large outdoor and camping shop with a full range of equipment and supplies. The staff are super friendly and are genuinely keen to help you get the most from your visit.
As always any store that let's us bring our dog is a winner in my book! The staff all fussed over him and bowls of water are located by the door for much needed refreshment!
Great price, good quality and most important there is always someone arround that is willing to help with a smile on there faces!!!
I do recomand it
Really large store with everything you can want for the outdoors. Free parking and friendly staff also.
Brilliant customer service, and they price matched an online store plus gave an extra 10% the fella that got my watch was really excited to open the box to show me the contents and was subtly trying to sell me (or maybe himself?) a pretty impressive camping knife. The lady that served me Hellen also signed me up for the store card which gives added discount for future purchases. Really happy with the whole experience thanks
Sam at the Reading store is a true gem. Friendliest member of staff I've met in any shop ever.
I ve been meaning to write a review for a couple of weeks. Just wanted to say how pleased I was with the service I received recently when I went into the Basingstoke shop to buy some walking boots. Pauline served me and she was so friendly and helpful. I was there for a while and she was very patient and gave me a lot of info to help me find the right boots for me. I went for the Scarpa Goretex Brown Leather boots and they are perfect! I wore them to an Apple cider festival which rained the whole time but they didn t let any water in and were so comfy. I d also seen Pauline helping another customer before me. The young boy was doing his Duke of Edinburgh and also needed a pair of boots. She was so helpful with him too. It was lovely to see, especially since it was late and near to the end of her shift. She also stayed on an extra few mins to finish helping me. If you see this thank you so much again for all your help and wonderful service - really really appreciated!
Good service. Helpful staff. Lots of empty shelves due to lockdown.
Waste of time hardly any outdoor furniture. Very disappointing.
A large camping, sports, and general outdoor gear retailer with just about everything you need -- I was able to find my bivvy bag here, which I hadn't been able to buy in-store elsewhere in the places I'd already looked. However, the prices posted on the shelves are their "discount card" prices -- I was surprised to be charged quite a lot more for my purchase than I had expected.
Fantastic service as always, shame about the lift being out of order but staff were happy to help with shopping and pushchair up the stairs. One way system is a tad confusing
Michelle went out of her way to get me the shirts I wanted
Fantastic range
Knowledgeable helpful staff
Went to go outdoors to find out about outdoor coats and bikes. An assistant called Hugh Chadwick was brilliant and told me all the alternatives and choices, nothing was too much trouble. Bought a coat and plan to go back to buy a bike. Using the discount card go outdoors was no more expensive than similar on the internet.
As long as you have time to really look for what you're after as despite best intentions the clothing area is not the best laid out and sizing is a bit hit and miss. For such a large store more staff would not go a miss, and changing rooms should be in working order!! Being able to use the blue light card on full price items got them another star.
It's trying a bit too hard to be a generic shop like decathlon. Not enough variety of specialist outdoor and camping equipment. Too much emphasis on clothing.
Cycle team is extremely helpful, very happy with their help and support.
Pre ordered bike, only to be told not in stock on arrival. 3 wks later and nothing! Absolute joke. AVOID
Worst service ever. Tried to buy a bike rack for our car. The 'salesperson' working in the bike section was extremely unhelpful. When asked if the bike rack will fit our car his response was "I don't know, you will just have to guess". walked away and couldn't be bothered. We bought one from Halfords who were very helpful in making sure we got right one.
Next we tried to buy a bicycle from the same store, only to be told even thought they had many in stock they couldn't sell us one as this same guy was now on a course for a week, and no one can help.
How they are still in business is a mystery. Very poor indeed.
Went there prices seemed reasonable that is if you have a discount card!!! Otherwise you pay the smaller less visible price that is more by a few quid. Even more annoying is displaying an offer then saying it isn't offer instead of being More
For all your outdoor needs it's covered. It has products ranging from entry level right through to top notch at competitive prices.
Worth opening a loyalty account as it pays for itself in only a couple of transactions.
My go to shop for walking gear . Great prices and choice take a look at website it's well worth a visit with free parking.
Service and staff excellent, nothing to much trouble for them
Another really bad experience shopping with GO OUTDOORS.
After three weeks of emails and messages another of my orders was cancelled. I was told that my order was delivered, then I was told that it was lost somewhere in transit. Completely mess !!!
I have used many branches of GO Outdoors over two decades.
This is quite a nice newer one with a good layout so you can quickly find items. But it is not heavily staffed; like say Shefield (which is the head office store). The Baisingstoke branch is only 30 minutes away from this branch. In case you want something specific; which is not in stock here.
In general ask one of the female staff to help you. They seem to know more and are often more helpful. Go outdoors have a reasonable range. It is easy to find items on line and locate a store that have stock. So you can reserve it on your phone and pick it up. I wanted specific boots, but they are good for many other things.
Go Outdoors are not the cheapest, or the most specialised in this sector; So it is worth checking for better prices on the Net before pushing the button.
The location is a typically dull retail park. But there is a Halford close by, if that helps. It is Outside Reading; so you avoid the worst Reading traffic. However there are a lot of roadworks on the A33 these days; which may slow you down.
Awfull, prices on the items were not what we were charged at the till. Apparently the sticker price is the discount card price. Got refund & purchased items from halfords virtually next door for nearly half the price.
