Being that it is housed in the old Polanaise catering hall is kind of cool. Tons of little rooms, mirrored interior, etc. The main venue area only holds 300 so when the show is sold out it is extremely hot and packed but the sound is great, drink prices aren't ridiculous and I dig it.

Small venue but still cool. Awesome live music! Great food and beer (first time having Morris grilled cheese even though their food truck is outside of my job every day. Was worth the wait). Short wait to get in on a Friday night. Black light mini golf was fun. Got an awesome Star Wars/Warriors tee shirt (made in Coney Island no less) from an awesome vendor (so many great vendors. Think Brooklyn Flea market mixed with a club on weekends and nights only. Good times...Good times.
I was a little apprehensive about heading over to Brooklyn Bazaar to catch A Place to Bury Strangers, since the first time I was there, the bands sucked, the crowd sucked, the sound sucked, and the vegan garlic brownie gelato I paid $18 for also sucked. But the venue has kind of gotten its act together and seems determined to make a real go of it-- they're booking credible bands and performers, the sound was much improved, and in general there's lots to like about what's going on here. Plus, the shows are free. Free!
Anyway, the band was plenty loud tonight and there was just the right mix of guitar histrionics and artisinal pickles, to make the trek out to Greenpoint worthwhile.
Brooklyn bazaar has great acts come through all the time, and on top of that they've got a great kitchen in the same space. I've never had a problem here, just make sure you have your ID ready at the door.
Coolest place ever!!! Found cool art items! I CAN'T BELIEVE THEY ALSO HAVE A TATTOOIST FROM THE PHILIPPINES actually tattooing there!!!! Her art was amazing! Went to watch the bands and ended up getting inked! Im visiting her again this weekend to talk about more ink!!! guys check her out she rocks ( Sarah Gaugler - check her out on instagram) ! Thank you Bk night bazaar! you guys rock !!!!!!!!!!
What a cool place! I went on a Friday night and it never got too crowded, which was refreshing, but there was a line to get in. There's a stage w/ live bands and a big seating areas, so it's an easy place to go hang out. I'd imagine it gets more crowded for the bigger bands, but as far as I know the shows are always free. As far as the market goes, there aren't too many vendors so it's less overwhelming than other markets, but there's still a nice variety of food options and goods vendors. Try the oysters! and the empanadas. and the tacos...
I like going to this spot and I like the events that happen in it, but the 11 minute walk from the subway is not fun and cabs to the L have happened on multiple locations. What's great is there usually isn't a cover to see great bands. They usually have great local food (hello Crif Dogs!) and local artisanal products.
Had read about this place and thought I was in for a great night. What a let down!!! One Pin Ball Machine, one pool table etc etc. Expected food stands with live music. There was a "restaurant" but was not going to eat there. A guy in the front selling bracelets who was so unhelpful and not quite sure what it actually covered. Don't waste your time
If you're a fan of the old Brooklyn Bazaar location then do yourself a favor and stay away from here... The new location has the same cramped dilapidated mini golf, the same cheap cocktails, but all of the food and many of the vendors are gone. Well, okay there's one place to eat with a small menu and maybe a handful of vendors but they lost the bazaar. It should just be named "Brooklyn Run Down Chucky Cheese for Adults"
Talk about divey. This place has everything for everyone. Pool table at an affordable price. Bar food, decent priced drinks, diverse crowd and music. Goth millenial Mexicans?? In Brooklyn, there's always a new group of different ethnicities. Good mix of music for the crowd but not my type. Lots of techno and other weird things the crowd didn't care for but the DJ couldn't read that. Bathrooms stunk so bad I couldn't dare go in. Coat check is $2. Spacious but not huge. Not crowded. I'd return! I recommend for a different chill night out for dancing, pool, drinks, or a good time your way
In a heavily gentrified neighborhood this venue still maintains the essence of old Brooklyn. My brother BassRokwell spun there and I enjoyed the venue so much I would like to throw my own shows there.
This place has a nice vibe and all but the bouncers and bartenders are terrible, I just came back from the mod sun concert and the people that work there are terrible. Ill make sure mod sun dont ever play there again
Came for a concert. Large multi-level overall venue with the concerts upstairs. Very fair drink prices and good bartenders. Sound is pretty decent. Designed well. Hope they continue to get good talent in.
I came to the BB on this particular occasion to share in a expose of sorts with artist of all types be it fashion designers , photographers, graphic artists, modeling. This was the Rawartist showcase. The venue is legendary. The added plus was that my child sashayed a the stage a few times as a model. We must go again. Three floors of venue space and well organized.
Seems like they kept an old name and good place and turned it into a club-like "banquet hall". Staff are, again, what you find in clubs. Very tacky. Also don't let the photos fool you, they're from the old place.
I thought I'd check out the brooklyn bazaar. This place is a fire hazard. Overpacked tight rooms and not much in them. We did one circuit of the place and walked right out. Nowhere near as big as the last place they had. The downstairs renovation must not have been done because there is what looks like a cheap cardboard drop ceiling in the basement which makes it especially claustrophobic.
One of my favorite bars to go to. Great drinks and great games in a great location. Only downside is that it get very crowded around prime time and it becomes hard to navigate. I usually like to go at opening so I can play what I want and drink at my leisure, then I can enjoy the influx of people once I'm comfortable and I can bail for food before it gets too crowded.
Pretty decent concert place with 3 floors that host live bands, different music. Mostly in the punk/HC/metal genre. There is also a restaurant/bar inside that has billiard pool tables.
Not the greatest venue in the world. There's no security check on the door (unlike the ineffective yet over-zealous one at every other Brooklyn venue I've been to) so stars for that. The staff are fairly relaxed (apart from their "bookings manager" who apparently has a knot in his panties), and it's very close to the subway, so plusses again. But the gig experience itself leaves a lot to be desired. The upstairs gig room is like a dilapidated wedding/function room - with no atmosphere and very little air - and the sound is pretty awful. It's a credit to the band we saw (and the excellent Polish bar/restaurant next door) that the evening wasn't a complete write-off.
I really was so impressed by this music venue the food and drinks are amazing too. Top notch security is a class act they surely have everything under control and organized. I like the fact that when the music show was over people left accordingly and didn't linger. It was easy to exit the venue without a hassle. That was because of the serious security they have there. Great place for music, drinks and dinner. Saw the band Foxing, the music was great.
Very cool spot. I went here on a Friday night at about 9pm. It was not overly crowded, I would say they allowed the perfect amount of people in. It's a big flea market setup. The center areas have vendors selling mainly jewelry and leather stuff, but there are plenty of other things for sale (soap, honey, hot sauce, sunglasses). There are multiple bars selling decent beers at normal prices (around $6 for a craft IPA). The are a bunch of older arcade games a la barcade, although these tend to be late 90's era (cruisin' world, hydro thunder) where barcade tends to have older arcade games. They also have air hockey, miniature golf, and table tennis. The opposite end has a stage and they have live music, I think all the time. The band was good, and the area in front of the stage is first standing room for a crowd, then a bunch of cafeteria tables.
Now, the food. The food here is awesome. I had a little from a few places. First I had a classic Sicilian riceball from Arancini Bros ($5). It was fantastic, maybe the best riceball I've had, other than from Joe's of Avenue U, and that one is covered in sauce and caciocavallo. Then I had a few oysters from the oyster guy, he is the chef/owner of Brooklyn Bayou, which I had never heard of, but am now interested in. They were great ($2.75 each). I checked out the pizza area, and the pizzas looked great. I didn't get one though, because I wanted to sample more smaller items. Next I had a taco from the Oaxaca place (I can't remember the full name). I think the tacos were $6. The taco was really good. I also can't remember which one I had. Lastly, I had the Bolivian street food. It was a pocket structured like an empanada. This thing was amazing. There is no way I would go back here without getting one. The crust is sweet corn, and it holds its structure the whole time you're eating it. The filling was meat and cheese and was just great.
All in all, fun place, good for a group to hang out, and great food.
As a promoter renting the space, I love this place. As a band member playing the venue, I love this place. As a person attending a show, I love this place. So many things can set this place apart from other venues, but this is just the one.
The current owners didn't do much to renovate the old Banquet Hall it occupies and that's what makes it awesome. It was like some kinda Goth Mount Airy Lodge. The basement bar was a mini version of the one in the Overlook Hotel. Because all work and no play does make Jack a very dull boy.
The main floor is where you'll find the food and video games. Apparently I still suck at Mrs. Pac-Man but I'm still nice with the Centipede. I had the Fried Chicken Bao - Hoisin, Sri racha & cucumber. Tasty, but kinda small for the price. These are Manhattan priced dishes so coming hungry will cost you.
Downstairs is the bar and vendors. The flea market of jewelry was pretty much what I expected, but the full-service tattoo booth was a total surprise. Putting it right across from the bar is either a very bad idea or frickin' brilliant. There's also a mini golf/haunted house looking room that I just peeked at. I think there's Karaoke too. The place is all kinds of a good time.
Upstairs is the music venue. The sound is ear bleedingly loud so ear protection is a good idea if you don't want tinnitus in your old age. I didn't because I don't care much about my safety or wellbeing. Tragedy is a Metal Bee Gees cover band. I'll let that sink in for a moment... You wouldn't think it would work, but it works epically. They put on an awesome show. I even got up on the stage at one point. I left covered in body glitter.
Given the convenience of Brooklyn Bazaar to the G train and 3 bus lines, if Tragedy were to return, I'd be back in a heartbeat. I'll keep an ear to the ground for other shows for sure.
THIS PLACE IS SUPER AWESOME. I WILL BE GOING HERE MORE OFTEN NOW THAT I KNOW WHAT IT'S LIKE. THEY HAVE A WELCOMING ENVIRONMENT, GREAT STAFF AND A PHOTO BOOTH. THE VENUE HAS CONCERTS AND A FREE SCREENING OF OLDER MOVIES NOW AND AGAIN. I WOULD SUGGEST YOU VISIT THERE SOON IF YOU WANNA HAVE SOME FUN WITH YOUR PALS OR EVEN TO MEET NEW PEOPLE
Only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is that there weren't enough seats for the show for everyone who bought tickets... So we ended up standing for almost two and a half hours!!
Whereas the old Brooklyn Bazaar was a wild west of a warehouse market/venue, the current iteration belongs on a Polish cruise ship. Friday night and it's totally dead.
Small venue where you can get really close to the performers. Good location. Easy to get to and also pretty easy to find on street parking. The G subway line in Brooklyn is also half a block away.
