We first found Broadoaks when we were searching for a wedding venue. The thing that drew us to Broadoaks was not only it being a beautiful venue, but the fact we could have exclusive use for a relatively small wedding party, plus it s dog friendly too!
Whilst we had visited other places, as soon as we saw the hotel we knew it was the place for us!
Our wedding was always intended to be small (note to other vendors - 50 isn t intimate!!) and we booked for late October 2020 prior to the pandemic taking over everything.

In the months leading to the wedding, the team at Broadoaks were brilliant, what should have been a small and simple wedding planning process for us, was repeatedly complicated by ever-changing government restrictions. The team were endlessly patient and helpful throughout, ensuring our day could happen without too many changes whilst remaining covid compliant.
When we finally made it to our big day - we couldn t have asked for better! The team were fantastic and made sure every aspect of our day was was truly special - even the sunshine came out for us!
Special thanks go to Mel for all the planning and support in the run up, Little Jo for making sure our wedding day went smoothly, and Dan and Stellian for perfect evening service (especially the second gong!!)

Before the wedding we had stayed in January, twice in August, and have since stayed after the wedding in December. We have now stayed in a variety of different rooms, and experienced the fantastic service offered by Broadoaks on a number of occasions.

Broadoaks will always be a special place for us, and we look forward to more stays here, for many more years. Our only disappointment is that we have heard they will be very busy in 2021 catching up on all the postponed weddings - so we won t be able to stay quite as often as we would like!! :)

The Lakes to me always meant traffic everywhere, p...

The Lakes to me always meant traffic everywhere, people everywhere, packed bars and shops and really not relaxing at all unless you are prepared to climb to the top of a hill. How wrong I was. 3 years ago we discovered Broadoaks and have just returned from our 5th break there.

The hotel is located just 5 minutes drive from Windermere and is tucked away in the quietest corner imaginable. The only sounds to disturb you will be the babbling brook at the bottom of the garden or the occasional sheep or eagle. I can cope with that!!

There is a great choice of rooms either in the main hotel, the adjacent coach house or the new lodges tucked away just off the drive. Each room is individual and you can choose exactly the room you wish. Many are large and have jacuzzi baths. This time we stayed in a room with a very posh B&O TV system. Did I like it? Looks fantastic but far too complicated for me - and with the wonderful gardens, great walks and amazing beauty all round WHY would you want to watch the TV anyway!

The food is excellent and well served and the drinks before dinner in the bar or piano room are a great start to the evening. Sometimes dinner is served a little fast but a quick word to the staff to slow it down a bit is all that's needed.

I think the current owners have had the hotel for about 10 years and every time we visit we see improvements to the decor, the staff and the food. It's the little things that count here and it's the little things the staff here are great with. The staff are all so friendly that you soon find yourselves treated like friends. The Chef Sharon comes out of the kitchen to speak to you, the restaurant manager Richard (after the appropriate amount of sympathy) teased me relentlessly after I fell over in the bar! The gardener Marc insisted on carrying my bag from the hotel to the car and the manager Jane was everywhere all the time.

This is not a big corporate soulless hotel. This is a fine, smal,l independent hotel whose owners and staff care about their guests and seem to really enjoy looking after us. Are we getting boring going back to the same place? Well perhaps but we love it so much why shouldn't we?

Beautiful hotel in a stunning location!

Beautiful hotel in a stunning location!
The morning view over the valley was quite simply breathtaking.

Food was excellent and a lot of attention has gone into creating the menu, breakfast was of course the Cumbrian Breakfast.
The staff were really friendly and very, very helpful when we realised we had forgotten one of our waterproof coats just as the heavens opened ready for our 'big' walk on Saturday!

Pre dinner drinks in the Music Room were accompanied by canapes which was a lovely touch.

The hotel is also dog friendly and they have ensured all bases have been covered from the treats to the cleaning station.
The staff at reception suggested a pleasant local walk for the Sunday morning and also organised some boat trip tickets for us.

All in all we have had a wonderful weekend at Broakoaks and look forward to returning very soon.

Highly recommend

Fantastic wedding venue with friendly staff. We attended an exclusive use wedding here and it was very well executed. Typically I am very sceptical of the food you get at these sort of places but I have to give them credit here, all dishes were superb. Special mention to the sticky toffee pudding.

Excellent Summer Break with all the trimmings...Took the kids this week to Broadoaks Country House for a family summer break and we were not disappointed. We received a personal service from the moment we checked in to the very last second we departed. We also brought our two dogs with us and they also enjoyed being pampered in their own way :)

Each of our rooms were stunning and unique and the kids loved their own space and especially loved the home touches like cookies and milk at bedtime..

Our trip was made even better by the hot weather and we enjoyed the amazing views of Windermere on our dog walks.

Thanks to all the Broadoaks staff, we will be back soon...

What a fantastic place to relax and spend a few nights. Very welcoming. Nice room in the old house, with home made biscuits. Set in gorgeous surroundings. The spa down the road has nice new facilities free to use. Register your car in the spa for free parking, don't pay like I did. Each of the breakfast, afternoon tea and dinner where outstanding. Local beer on tap very nice.

Couldn't fault it. The bed was comfy (barring a hard pillow) and the room was above and beyond what we expected. The food was unbelievable and was very hard to pick off the menu as it all looked so good.

Stayed here for a wedding do a few months ago. Excellent location with great views, although the view from my room was the carpark ! Not 5 star but ok. I was not impressed with the staff who were just going through the motions. I was nearly ripped off at the bar with some jokers putting their drinks on my tab, so be careful. The worst thing was the hotel tried to close off part of the room that was used for the evening entertainment. They did open it after the bride and groom pleaded with them. Not recommended.

The stay was good, room and grounds were nice, food was excellent. A little greedy in my opinion, charging for a bread roll or ice bucket! Our stay was spoiled by wasps crawling over the food at breakfast, we complained to the hotel but they fail to reply. Definitely better choices out there for the price.

A wonderful hotel, my wife and I were married here, and it was so perfect we've returned for each anniversary (just had our fifth).

Superb staff offering us a warm welcome. Our bags were carried upstairs to our room, lovely service. Whilst our bedroom was one of the smaller the hotel has to offer it was charming and well appointed. Great selection teas and coffee in room plus home made biscuit and kendal mint cake. We would have liked a larger shower en-suite but warmed fluffy towels, robe and . gorgeous bathroom products made up for it. Only real niggle was the ceiling shower with no hand held shower attachment and we couldn't locate a shower cap. Bed was comfy linen great. Food was high standard across breakfast, afternoon tea and evening meal. Beautiful grounds. Free Car parking on site. Stay includes use of gym and spa facilities, however these were located separately a few minutes down the road. Certainly would recommend a stay.

We stayed a night here, it is a beautiful hotel in a lovely setting. The staff were friendly and we were made to feel very much at home. We arrived early and had afternoon tea, then a four course evening meal. The room was lovely, warm and extremely comfortable so we had a great nights sleep. We then had a leisurely breakfast before sadly having to leave. I have to say that the food was fabulous. In fact we couldn't find any fault with this hotel and will definitely return.

I attended a wedding here and I was pleasantly surprised at how nice it was!

The place in general has lots of character and is situated in a lovely location with, pretty much, clear land around it.

Inside there is character for days! A couple big function room and, however, one small bar that does serve local booze.

The staff were friendly and the food was banging! And it's in the middle of the lakes!

Would definitely recommend

An independant beautiful hotel set in a stunning location. I stayed here recently with my wife and we had a fantastic weekend break. The room was immaculate and provided gorgeous views of the lake district. Food was top notch and well worth staying in for. We particularly liked the breakfast which was 10/10 ! The staff were very warm and welcoming and we would definately recommend a stay here. We will definately be coming back - Paul & Susan Robertson
