Gorillas and other primates were amazing and had plenty of space. Lions looked a little cramped and because of some closed areas we managed the whole zoo at a gentle pace in lees than two hours (and we did the one way system twice).

Took my 3 year old granddaughter and had a great time even though it drizzled most of the time. I've heard some people say that Bristol Zoo is small. Yes it is compared to say Chester Zoo but I love it for being compact. The only thing I would ask is that there be more covered picnic areas. It was difficult to find somewhere dry to sit to eat our packed lunch. But the animals and grounds and play area for children are well worth a visit
A great day for all ages my 16,14,and 8 year old loved it. The only thing that hindered us a little was the lack of parking we had to drive around all the back streets for ages to find somewhere if we hadn't bought online tickets we may not of gone in. This said once inside there was plenty to do and see and the new baby Gorilla was so cute the animals seemed happy and well looked after .
Was here for meeting as opposed to usual day out with kids. Well set up, facilities good. Slightly echoey meeting room but more than made up for by a fantastic lunch and chance to mosey round the zoo during lunchtime.
First of all, I don't like zoo but it captivated me. And not the animals whose prison I am against, but the atmosphere and intimacy of this place. Full of benches woven into wonderful vegetation, no candy boxes, etc. High price. A great place for those in love
Great value and very knowledgeable staff. Spent four hours happily walking round with a 3 and 7 yr old. The activity centre (when we were there) was brilliant value.
I and my partners family visited Bristol zoo on the 15/09/18 and whilst the grand kids enjoyed themselves i was very disappointed for the pice we paid. Unfortunately it is not the same as it was just 30 years ago when it was a zoo and had animals normally associated with a zoo.
It is a very educational zoo, it is not only to see the animals, you are learning and the facilities make the interaction very fascinating, the area of gorillas, penguins, butterflies, birds and nocturnal animals
Very pleasurable afternoon spent with kids. Don't miss the Gorilla talk. Dropped a two stars due to a lot being closed being winter but pulled one back with heavily discounted entry.
We had a great visit to Bristol zoo!! It was great to see some different animals and not just the usual 'zoo animals'. The food was lovely at the restaurant and very reasonably priced to.
Ugh. Such a disappointment. A tiny zoo. Freezing cold and not a lot of indoor spaces to warm up in. The viewing angles on cages were such that only a single family could stand there at a time. But it didn't matter, because the kids won't even look at the animals because of all the garish attractions - shining lights and merry-go-rounds, that take all the attention away from the animals themselves. And of course, even thought the ticket price is very high, EVERYTHING costs extra. Parking, rides, make-up activities, nothing is included. And the animals look like they're in a sad state. Especially the lions in their small enclosure, walking in tight figure-eight formation. A sad rip-off.
Lovely zoo set in in beautiful gardens. We were very lucky to see the new born baby gorilla but disappointed that the red pandas had not arrived as my son was looking forward to seeing them. Very covid secure, plenty of sanitisers and social distancing as the zoo didn't appear very busy due to the strict timing of the ticket sales. Don't expect all areas of the zoo to be open due to covid but in all a great experience
A good small zoo, quite educational and informative, good place for the family. It's well laid out and actually feels a lot bigger than it is. Parking can be a bit of a chore, food average and a bit expensive, but overall a good day out.
Been a few years since I visited and everything is starting to look tired. Alot of things closed or enclosures empty. Needs investing and influx of new animals.
A great day out. Used to come to the zoo a lot, and it's gotten better each time! Very friendly staff who are really enthusiastic about their jobs, and who are open to have a good chat about your favourite animals. The talks are all interesting and informative too.
Go early to gat a parking space as it is limited. Nice zoo.... nocturnal house a little too dark to see much. Food a little pricey. Most importantly all the animals looked healthy and well cared for in nice enclosures.
Very disappointing really. Not many animals on show, too many cages empty or under repair, old or run down enclosures. Very costly in general, and an absolute nightmare to find without a sat nav, dont rely on signposts as there aren't many!
Ok if you've got young kids as the playarea as well as the zoo is quite safe for them to run around in or you've not been before. We only went as we had a special offer of a twilight viewing. It does have some gorillas and a couple of lions but that's it for the big animals. Its not really changed over the years.
Always a great visit. A lovely setting, fantastic animals. Staff are always happy to talk to you and explain about the animals. Talks are regular at various exhibits (the gorilla island talk is a must).
Before or after, the Bristol downs makes for a great walk (moments away from the zoo). Or Clifton village is a short walk away for a meal or a shop bimble.
What a fantastic day out for all the family. Loved seeing all the different animals, there's a play area for the kids and a zip wire. Cafe is lovely. Great day outside!
Amazing day out with the family. My 6 years old boy, love it. He didn't stop for 1 minute. And my 15 months girl just said "Hiya" to all the animals. The price of the ticket is resonable and you can find some vouchers or deals online.
I love that place. There is a lot of things to do and lots of animals to look at. There is a historical place to look at. Me and my family loved it there. There were no smoking areas. I think that there should be a few smoking areas for people that smoke
