Bridgeport ATA Martial Arts Reviews

UPDATE (March 2021)
We are still extremely happy with Bridgeport ATA. I have joined my boys (now ages 10 and 6) and enrolled in the adult class. We have all three had a wonderful experience at Bridgeport ATA. Master Thokar helps build confidence as well as to nurture positive attitudes, showing respect, and having perseverance. We have felt confident in the measures taken in person during COVID 19 and are very happy with the virtual classes as well. I cannot recommend Bridgeport ATA highly enough for families if you are looking to join martial arts.

ORIGINAL (Winter 2019)
Two of my little boys (ages 4 and 8) attend Bridgeport ATA. We transferred here when our academy closer to home closed its doors due to retirement. We drive 45 minutes each way 2-3 times a week and it is SO worth it. My children have been welcomed by students, parents and instructors with open arms. The environment at Bridgeport ATA is overwhelmingly positive. My children are given instruction in a positive, caring, and extremely knowledgeable manner. When we first found out they would have to transfer we were understandably nervous, but it has been a wonderful experience. My boys are always excited to attend their classes and my youngest son is excited for when he can begin!

Teaches life skills to children as well as teaching the importance of exercise to children and adults. These classes invite people of all walks including people with special needs.

Great place for teaching the young ones about respect, discipline and self defense.

Never been here but I am looking for a place to start training I've never trained before but I do watch self defense videos on YouTube probably not not the best start. How much are classes or is it like a monthly fee?? Would love to be in an actual class instead of pulling knowledge from the internet martial arts has always interested me. Please respond I'd love to come by today and see how things are in person !

Master Thokar is wonderful with children! My son has attended classes here for almost four years. He is very devoted to his students, teaching them a lot more than just taekwondo.

Master Thokar and his staff are very professional and are great with the kids. The kids learn so much more that martial arts. They learn life skills and how to be good people. Our son has grown in confidence and discipline in the short amount of time he has been attending Bridgeport ATA. We would highly recommend to anyone considering martial arts.

Master Thokar is a great instructor who is very dedicated in the teachings of taekwondo. He is very involved and truly cares for his students.

Master Thokar and his staff are wonderful! Our son has grown in confidence and excitement about Taekwondo since he began taking classes here. It is a great environment to learn, as well as have a lot fun!

The Bridgeport ATA is a place where I met great friends, I even received a job here. Since I quit working at the academy I feel everything fell apart. Kids getting their black belts way too soon, it s almost like you buy your belts. I received my black belt in two years, mind you I would go to the academy religiously putting my home life on hold while I would train Tuesday-Friday twice on Wednesday if I was able before I started working here. I spent a lot of time and money invested in receiving my belt. Upon working here I received both positive and negative complaints about the academy time management was an issue, class would run over when kids needed to be home doing their homework, Adult students needed to get home so they could eat dinner and either get to work or in bed for work the next day. Mr. Thokar has done a lot for Bridgeport community, including parades, charity, and bully prevention at the local schools and day cares. I was told about a month ago I was toxic, because I spoke the truth. I had given Mr. Thokar brutal honesty (Honesty the first step to abundant life) I was lied to and I called him out on it, just because I was honest the very next day I was told as soon as my black belt ceremony which I would have to pay a make up fee I would have to leave. The whole time Mr. Thokar was talking to me he could not look at me. Mr. Thokar and I were so called friends, obviously I was wrong. He himself says he does everything in good faith but is true intentions are to serve his TKD career and agenda...I was given several gifts working for Mr. Thokar and they were thrown back back in my face when I refused to pay the make up testing fee. Being thrown out and not being able to see the students I once helped train makes me feel like my heart has been ripped from chest.

Lucky to have a World Champion Martial Artist teach our kids. It s leadership, emotional IQ and physical fitness training in one place. We train here as a family.
Highly Recommend Master Thokar!

Master Thokar is awesome with all the kids. He is not only a great martial arts instructor, but he helps to instill respect and morals that are hard to find in todays world. He is very gentle, yet firm. I also love that he offers a flexible schedule. He offers class 6 days a week, so you can pick the days that work best for your schedule!

I have two kids (a child and teenager) enrolled at Bridgeport ATA and they both love it! Master Thokar is very skilled and is great with the kids! The tournaments are also great experience for the kids. Master Thokar is very active with the children, even outside of class, and always tries to make them very special. He has various parties for them (Christmas, Halloween, etc.) and involves them in community activities such as parades and other town events. Bridgeport ATA has become family! Highly recommend!

Being a part of Bridgeport ATA is like being in a family. I am new to the organization and I was accepted right away. Master Thokar is invested in everyone of his students and works hard to see them succeed. If you have questions or concerns you are treated with value and respect. This a great place to learn and grow.

Master Thokar is wonderful!! He is super helpful with the children and very knowledgeable in TKD. My son has a blast and has learned so much from taking his class at Bridgeport ATA.

My 3 year old son had a wonderful experience with this program. He was having some discipline issues at his daycare so we enrolled him to help. Mr. Thokar is great with the kids and the program is more valuable than your average sport with a focus on life skills as well as fitness. He always had a big smile on his face at the end of the class and seemed really proud of himself.

Great place to learn martial arts, important life skills, and have fun as well. I have been involved with Bridgeport ATA for about two years and have been impressed by the passion and integrity I have seen by Master Thokar and the love he has for the sport.

As a stay at home mom I needed an engaging exercise program, but without a lot of help with my 3 yr old son, I also needed something that would let me keep him there with me. At Bridgeport ATA I have that, the instructor is very child friendly and my son plays in the waiting area while I get an awesome workout. I have also had the unexpected health benefit of lowering my cholesterol. I plan on enrolling my son soon and would recommend this to anyone young or old.
