Excellent, top to bottom. Recommended by family member who is a Stanford-trained orthopedic surgeon. Sogol & the team accurately assessed my double-torn-MCL and a customized training plan for both the injury and my style (aggressive/get to work so I can jog and be athletic again). They pushed me when I needed it, did a great job ensuring I had the right form and learned the "why" and the take-aways so I could replicate the program at home. I'm back to running, hiking, biking and feeling confident about the next steps. Worth mentioning that the office staff are also unusually good and "email-friendly" (a plus for calendaring).

Overall I have a bad experience , they generate their own schedule without consulting me and In turn I couldn't attend some of the sessions . Now they charge late fee. Nice strategy :) Also I am satisfied with their service as well. They repeat same exercise for most of the days, so i wont go this one again !

Beware! Insurance coverage details and charges are not explained clearly at check in. I had to foot a large bill which they sent later even though I was assured at check in the max I would have to pay was 30% of consulting fees.

Had a terrible experience with this place. I made it very clear from the start that I was highly concerned with the billing and only to be seen if they could accept my insurance and I would have a reasonable copay of less than $50/visit. They had me come in for my first appointment and I met with a PT for about 20 minutes. It turns out they didn't get prior authorization from my insurance company so they sent me a $207 bill for my first visit.

I'd recommend to stay away from this place and they are not honest with their billing. I made it very clear from the start that I was very concerned about the financials but they still stuck me with a massive bill for a short 20 minute visit.

My daughter, a competitive gymnast, was experiencing pain around her heels and Achilles tendon and was diagnosed with Server s syndrome. Our pediatrician referred us to physical therapy and we were so fortunate to work with Danielle Conway at BreakThrough Therapy.

First of all, Danielle would always welcome us with a big smile and my daughter felt very comfortable.

Over the next 3 months, Danielle taught my daughter many stretching and flexibility exercises, focusing on her tight calf muscles, glutes, feet muscles and balancing.

My daughter has now returned to gymnastics full time and has the tools to continue stretching correctly to prevent future injuries.

We would strongly recommend Danielle for any athlete!

I trust Breakthrough PT (BPT). And I am in awe of Danielle Conway, my PT. What an amazing therapist and human being.

My experience at BPT began 3 weeks after total knee replacement. I was unsure about everything, from staying safe as I tried new things, to ways I could progress with mobility. Danielle immediately put me at ease, and we got started. The rest of the staff, the front desk, and the technicians that support you through stimulation and ice, were equally wonderful. Yes, the Front Office treated me professionally, respectfully and there were never any problems with payment or schedule. My bottom Line - BPT's professional support was as important to me as the surgery itself.

To BPT: I have never been treated as professionally, kindly and successfully as you treated me. I may not be running laps or playing professional sports, but I've come a long way, and there's no reason to think I won't continue progressing. My one limiting factor is my right knee, which also needs TKR, and is now under your care. Everybody needs something to hope for, and that's what BPT care has given me. With your support I will return to my favorite sports with fervor.

Thanks so much. With your help, I can expect continued left knee recovery, and restoration of my right knee, before and after surgery. It's because of your support that I have offered my highest praise to Breakthrough PT.

Horrible place stay away from here. I tried this place out a few times for my knee from my ACL surgery. Their hours were limited so i had to go during lunch, well one time work was busy and there was no way for me to make my appointment, i called and tried to reschedule and they said no, I can either show up or cancel. Needless to say i didn't go and cancelled the rest of my appointments. Now they are trying to charge me for the appointment i could not go to AND charge me their "collection fee". I am not paying them 1 cent!

I want to give BreakThrough a positive review since my physical therapist was essential to my recovery from a running-related injury.

I'm unable to do so due to an unfortunate combination of circumstances and policy: BreakThrough gives every patient one free cancellation, and I had used mine due to a last-minute work obligation. After my scheduled treatment plan was complete, however, my therapist urged me to continue regular appointments "so these injuries don't keep happening." (I don't know why she said that since this was my first non-trivial injury in many years of running.) I reluctantly agreed and showed up for one of these appointments. We spent the hour going over basic running drills and stretching, all of which I felt to be not worth the $100, so I decided not to continue with more sessions.

Regrettably this information didn't get communicated to the front desk, so when I didn't come to the next appointment I was charged a $40 cancellation fee. To make matters worse, I had moved addresses and didn't receive their initial letter but only their *second* letter, by which time the fee had doubled to $80. I tried calling to explain this situation but the charge was non-negotiable, even the additional late fee due to not having received the first letter in the mail.

Ultimately, I paid the $80, but this situation left me frustrated. So, yes, as physical therapy goes BreakThrough does a fine job. Just be careful about being conscripted into additional sessions, and be careful when you cancel appointments.

I have had back problems for 30 years. In April I was rear-ended which caused whiplash. My Doctor prescribed physical Therapy. I get excellent treatment at Break Through. Shanice Howard was my Therapist and not only did she do a great job but she is so personal that the hard work was easy. My back and neck issues effect my balance. She helped me with my balance. I joke that she will save me from failing a DUI test.

Best physio there is 'Conway Danielle'- period.

But, their front desk manager has big attitude.
If you can't make it on Monday appointment and call them first thing Monday morning(6-7am), you will be charged 24 hour cancellation policy, even though they are closed on Sunday. Get ready to get a ear full 'no voicemail left on Sunday'. You are charged!
Otherwise a great place to mend your body troubles!
I canceled all my appointments & told the story to my friends whom I referred to...good luck!

Great and professional place for physical therapy in Sunnyvale! Had a ski injury, referred by Stanford Healthcare to here, and Ricky helped me recover pretty quickly. Front desk was cheerful but billing department occasionally mess things up a bit. Still great experience overall and would recommend!

Best in my experience. Staff is friendly & excellent in explaining the issue you have. Their exercises and methodologies are just perfect and no complaints ... Their treatment makes you feel so confident & happy. I was assigned to Kevin & he is just amazing guy, he treated me very well and cured my knee injury without making me feel stressful. He is very friendly and awesome people and services.
Definitely recommend to approach for any concerns.

The front desk staff is welcoming and helpful and Lisette makes me feel like she is really pulling for me. I appreciate this given the large clientele base there. I am getting excellent PT services from Irena. She has saved me from a shoulder surgery and is committed to getting my shoulder back to normal with a complete recovery based on her excellent work. I'm impressed with the results and thankful.

We tend to take the simple things in life for granted, e.g. walking, running, jumping, taking a shower standing up, wearing two shoes.

I definitely never thought I would be in a position to realize how lucky I am to have two working feet. But that's exactly what happened to me August 1, 2016. While playing volleyball, I fully ruptured my left Achilles tendon and was left unable to walk. After surgery to reattach and solidify my tendon, I was on the mend and was tasked to learn to walk again, let alone, learn to stand with feet parallel to each other.

Enter Break Through Physical Therapy and Dana Liang, Physical Therapist Extraordinaire!

Realizing that I will never be back to where I was prior to tearing my tendon, my goal was to get back to sports with as few limitations as possible. After working for months with Dana, and being waited on hand and foot by the aids and staff (HA! pun unintended but gladly accepted), I was able to meet that goal and am now back to full physical activity. I am happy to report that after being discharged, my limitations are at a minimum and I have regained confidence in the use of my left ankle. To think I went from being completely immobile to playing sports again in a matter of 5 months, I would consider the entire Break Through team to be miracle workers!!

Had a great experience over my 6 month recovery post shoulder surgery. The therapists are very friendly do care much about your recovery.

Never had a problem with the front desk, but do agree the social security number policy is a little unnecessary, especially since they had already verified I had insurance.

I sprained my MCL (inside of the knee) and could barley walk. I had a limp and everything and had to use crutches. Now 8 sessions later I'm all better. I can walk, run, and jump without pain. Everyone was so nice and helpful! The therapist I saw was Sogol, she was very supportive and always made sure I was okay with whatever she wanted me to do. She would show me before having me do it and even do it with me sometimes! I loved everyone I met there, they all had such great attitudes and personalities! I will miss not seeing them twice a week now that I'm better

Avoid avoid avoid. Do not go here. They are like a factory. They are inexperienced and the front office is rude. They literally just take you in a room talk to you and give you a rubber band and send you home. Go to a real physical therapy place. This is ridiculous.

After a colleague's recommendation I came to Breakthrough Physical Therapy with a badly locked up shoulder that limited my range and caused pain. How different life became after the treatment! Not only did the great treatment and cleverly developed exercise program fix my shoulder issue but also drastically improved a poor posture that was the likely root cause of my shoulder problems. The therapist Daniel Kao has fundamentally improved my life through the strength and mobility that I now have. Breakthrough Physical Therapy is highly recommendable and the great experience was made even better through the efficient and friendly management and staff at the front desk.

While I had a positive experience with the therapist but the clinic is extremely money minded and are not at all flexible around their cancellation policies even in case of exceptional circumstances. Despite the fact that I communicated to them around 20 hours ago that something important came up due to which I cannot make this time slot and was willing to reschedule to any other slot with the same therapist, they were not willing to waive their cancellation fee. With the schedules that we have, I would not recommend a physical therapy center which does not even try to be flexible and accommodate requests from customers but rather wants to use these as opportunities to make money.

The entire team at Breakthrough was amazing. From the administrative staff in reception to the therapist to the unsung heroes in the back providing the ice therapy and wiping down the equipment and providing clean towels. They were all extremely friendly, helpful, and caring. Danielle Conway was unbelievable! Her knowledge and level of care were unmatched. I was receiving treatment for a torn triceps tendon after surgery. Danielle's approach was to start to strengthen and improve flexibility in the entire arm while passively working the triceps. She made sure that the exercise was being performed correctly as well as sending a neat link that showed exactly how to do each exercise while at home. As my arm healed more and the strength and flexibility improved, I was able to work on the triceps directly. She adjusted physical therapy with the level of improvement and I quickly made huge strides. I also worked on my core strength with yoga (not easy!). Overall, it has made me realize how important keeping your body in shape is. I now am working out much more and more likely to continue. I am so thankful for all the help I received from Danielle and the Breakthrough team and highly recommend them.

I went for my lateral epicondylitis [tennis elbow]. I will divide this review into two:

First, the place itself is well equipped, has excellent customer service and is located conveniently. They are easily reachable through phone/email and respond immediately. BreakThrough came highly recommended by my doctor as well as friend who is also a patient. They accepted insurance and although heavily booked, were able to bump me up a few days. Monica Willoner at the front desk is extremely nice; she made it a pleasure to signup and revise my visit schedule according to my other appointments.

Second, I was assigned Kevin Brittain as physiotherapist. He is very knowledgeable, friendly, and was able to zero in on the sore spot on my arm in seconds. He does a great job of soft tissue treatment, and made me do exercises using colorful equipment. He also got me some TENS (electric nerve stimulation} therapy which helped, as well as ultrasound. Kevin even went beyond duty to help me request a lighter laptop at work. Let's just say that he is so good that there is actually a downside to my fast recovery, in that I have to stop consulting him!

In short, Breakthrough has an amazing team... and has been a flawless experience.

Stopped by today. While their physical therapist who attended to me (Justin) seemed great to work with, I can't say the same about their front desk and associated supervisor (Jennifer Straub). The main concern driving my 1* review is their ridiculous policy of requiring social security number or a ridiculous cash deposit for all future appointments ($130 for first appt, $110 for all future appts; so based on my understanding of the way the front desk described it: in my case that would have been $1340 for a 6 week period that the doctor recommended! And, even if it's just $130+$110, that's still super high as "cash deposit").

Having been a victim of identity fraud, I feel very sensitive to providing my social security number to anyone other than in absolute-must-need situations. When I explained my concern, they countered with "well, we are a small institute and have had situations where people don't pay up". At this point, they suggested their workaround of paying a ridiculous (upfront deposit). While I refused to pay such a high deposit upfront to them for obvious reasons, I read later from other reviews that people have had trouble receiving this deposit back.

Subsequently, I suggested what I thought was a creative workaround suggestion -- "why don't you take my credit card number down... and hold on to that if you have any issues with my billing" (for the record, I have excellent credit and superb health insurance). To this, their incompetent front desk staff countered "well, we are a small institute and we don't have the IT security in place to securely keep credit card information".

So, they have no IT security in place to keep credit card info, but will "securely" keep your SSN!?!!!! Go figure... LOL. Clearly, they have not read Empathy 101 or understand sensitivity around ID fraud (Breakthrough Staff - if you're reading this, most studies say the average ID theft costs $1500 in direct fraud + 600 hours of time clearing up ID theft issues. You can thank me for forewarning you when there's a hack into your IT systems stealing your customer's SSN and you are sued left, right and center) .

After explaining myself, they just kept repeating themselves like a broken record. So i left in frustration after sharing my my concern with their supervisor (Jennifer Straub). Strongly DO NOT RECOMMEND for their ridiculous policies!

Therapy was actually very good, definately helped ...

Therapy was actually very good, definately helped me with getting back to my usual routine. I had a shoulder injury that was taking forever to heal and Danielle was able to steer me in the right direction with exercises and suggestions on how to gage weights I use at the gym to avoid irritating injured shoulder while strengthening other mussels that can make up for the weakened shoulder. So I am happy with the result especially given the fact that I was not able to follow up on all recommended exercises due to other, unrelated challenges. Staff is pretty good too, they worked with my insurance and reduced my fees per insurance negotiated rates. But one thing was a bit strange in the beginning I thought I was told they accept my insurance however later it turned out it meant they would try to bill them, but insurance didn't have to pay, whatever that means. Or perhaps I misunderstood something with insurance coverage, ether way it was worth it. One thing i would suggest to change is to make scheduling more flexible and relaxed. This may present challenges in running business efficiently, but still, rescheduling accommodation can be less painful.
