Every book lover's dream!!!!

Every book lover's dream!!!!

Been in love with this bookstore ever since I first accidentally stumbled upon it. They have a side lot that is filled with discount books that range in prices from $1-5. There is no really organization of these books so you do have to do some searching but isn't that half the fun?

Inside, its just over-stuffed bookcase after over-stuffed bookcase. These are organized into categories which certainly helps with navigating. Will say that some sections are infinitely larger than others. For instance, they have a whole aisle filled with books on different cities in the Massachusetts area. Even so, you could spend hours inside shelf reading without even getting halfway through their entire collection. Although cluttered, this place is not at all musty or dusty.

This place is how every used bookstore should be.

Dropped in after seeing it listed as a place to visit whilst in Boston. Easy to find after a pleasant walk through Boston Common.

Straight away I knew this was the place to get my daughter s birthday present. As she is a student of all things literature l knew the tome of Milton s poetry would be just the thing. The translation of the magic mountain is also something I know she would love. For myself as an amateur historian of the 19th century Royal Navy, an original copy of the 1805 naval chronicles is something I am already enjoying ownership of. One of the more recent but out of print books I picked up was something I was specifically looking for.

If it wasn t for the helpful staff I might have spent even longer looking for suitable books.

Reasonably priced. Even the 3rd floor of rare books.

If you want the newest coffee table book, go to amazon. If you want a 200 year old book or an out of print book then go to this bookstore. There is something for every book lover.

I've been going to Brattles since I moved from Connecticut almost 40 years ago (take a few years away) . I brought many paperback books there, but this time I did not go inside, so don't know if they still sell them. Can't beat the prices, very friendly place to go, even the young ones like it.

Really fun place if you adore books, great selection with nice prices and you can find books on various subjects. I would recommend it's worth the visit. Also, it's near Boston common a land mark, which make very easy to find.

Brattle Book Shop is the best place to kill a lunch hour on nice day downtown. Their outdoor clearance lot has thousands of books to browse in the sunshine, all under $5. I can always find something obscure for a friend here: an annotated US Constitution? A collection of popular English holiday verses translated to Yiddish? Marquis de Sade's "Juliette," including engravings? Check, check, check.

To be honest, I've never spent much time inside the book shop itself - only long enough to pay for my treasures found in the outdoor lot. Bring hand sanitizer, since an hour of riffling through old books can leave hands feeling icky. They do take cards, but if you're buying a stack of $1 books cash is easier (and, I assume, appreciated).

Best book store in the country whether you want more than you can carry for ten bucks or that super rare first edition. Bar none when it comes to history books. Check out this historical book store.

Small but stuffed with books. They have a little bit of everything and a wide variety of cheap books as well as rare finds. Plus head to the third floor and get your fix of old leather bound books.

Rare and used books galore! Many floors and staff that bends over backwards to help. Also... they have an outdoor bargain area that is bigger than you'd expect. Plus... It's been in business forever!

We were excited to see this bookstore as it is old and famous. Unfortunately the store is very disorganized. I was hoping to find a used copy of the Federalist Papers. They didn't know if they had a copy or where I should look for it. I couldn't find a copy.
