We came to Boston Chops for the first time last Friday night (8/22/14) to celebrate a close friend's birthday. I was immediately impressed with the warm and inviting decor. My experience continued to improve throughout the evening. The service we received from, I believe her name was Pamela, was by far and wide the best service I have experienced at a restaurant to date. She was extremely helpful, and made our birthday celebration feel very special. She not only brought over a complimentary round of delicious desert rose wine, but also a complimentary desert (she even picked the desert that I would have chosen to order if we were going to do so). ALL of the food was so delicious we savored every single bite. Everyone at our 5 person table was absolutely astounded with the entire experience, from the food and menu choices, to the service and decor. I would rate this restaurant 10 stars if it were possible. If you are looking for a one of a kind special night, do yourself a favor, and make it Boston Chops. You will not regret it.

Outstanding food that has nose to tail offerings if you're an adventurous eater (highly recommend those offerings). The sides (Mac and cheese, spicy broccoli, poutine baked potato, horseradish mashed potato) were all incredible. Steaks were delicious but not as tender as I hoped them to be (dry aged NY strip was the special I had). I would still highly recommend the steaks though. Service was fantastic. Elegant and modern setting while being unpretentious.

Atmosphere: really nice, loved that they let us know the history behind the building.

Food: popovers were delicious, the creamed spinach was AMAZING. Seriously, amazing. My steak was wonderful, I got the filet Mignon. My husband however wasn t a huge fan. His came out severely undercooked and we are talking about a man who will eat rare steak. It looked like it was just seared and removed, so for the first time since we have been married he had to send something back and ask for them to cook it a bit more (he asked for medium rare), when they brought it back it was rare but he really didn t want to ask for them to cook it even longer so he just ate it and wasn t that impressed. Sadly I d want to go back because I thought mine was great and so were the sides, but he s all set.

The white sangria which is not on the menu was delicious and should totally be on the menu!

Service: exceptional! Our waiter was amazing and attentive. He also had a great sense of humor. He gets 5 stars!

The atmosphere in this location is cool & hip. The popovers & appetizers were incredible. That s where the highlights end. The 14oz NY Strip was 40% fat. It was on the edges and a huge line of gristle running, through the middle, the entire length of the steak. The steak was well done in some areas and medium in others and there was no sear on it.
My partner s steak was a 14oz Rib Eye. It was 60% fat and slightly overcooked. Again, no sear. My partner always gets the rib eye and couldn t believe the amount of fat, even for a rib eye. The quality was not what we have come to expected from a prime steakhouse.

The sides and desserts were great.

The service was top notch.

I won t go back to Boston Chops Downtown again and after this experience I d say that it s unlikely I d go to the South End location too. Sorry but if I m spending $50+ for a steak in Boston there are waaaaaaay better offerings.

The braised short rib was amazing! The meat was falling off the bone, the potatoes were smooth, the vegetables were crispy yet tender and everything was covered with a tasty sauce. To top it all off, their chocolate mousse cake was rich and decadent.

Food is not spectacular, Went their for a party waited about 1:30 before we where able to order, had paid for a reservation for 20 where they only had saved 10 seats. They then charged for cake that I brought in that hostess said they would not. Food was subpar. Would recomend Mooo... as they do a much better job at coordination and food is so much better!

Just left there this evening. Loved the ambiance and had very good service but the 18 oz rib steak bone in was literally one of the worst steaks I have ever had. Most of it was grisel. Not one piece of that 18 ozs was tender. Extremely disappointed for a renown steak house. Ordered it medium rare - it came rare and barely warm. Wow. $ 59 for a steak I could barely eat! Most of it ended up back on the plate as inedible. C'mon guys seriously? I was too embarrassed to send it back because I didn't want to ruin the frivoloty of the evening with other guests at my table. So disappointed for my last night in Boston.

I have been to Boston Shop, South End for many times. It s one of my favorite restaurants in Boston. The service is good and the food is great, but it s not a cheap restaurant. Get your wallet ready if you decide to eat there, it could cost up to $100-300 just for two people to get the decent dinner meal. However the food is really delicious. Worth the cost anyway. Try their deserts as well. Really delicious! They re always busy, Make a reservation if it s needed.

I went to Boston Chops in the South End with a party of 4 to celebrate a friend's birthday, and boy did we pick the right place! To start off with, our server was incredible. She was extremely friendly, knowledgeable, and even went along with our inside jokes!
I should probably mention that this restaurant is perfect for family style dining, so our group ordered a few starters and entrees to share. The popovers were delicious, as was the pork belly mac and cheese, and the oysters were incredible (all local). The sea bass was just alright, but obviously the Wagyu steak and the marrow were the highlight of the entire meal.
Overall, this was one of the best steak houses I've been to in Boston and will definitely be coming back, possibly for my own birthday!

Service was great.

Good food. Service was a little slow and one of the meals took extra time to come out but they took it off the bill. Brunch menu is small but the food is very good. Expensive as it's in Boston but overall a nice place to spend a few hours

Good food. Bartender was great. Just a bit pricey for a nighton the town. If you have the money for $100 per person dinners, this is the place to dine. Everyone else, save up for that special occassion

Outstanding, Expensive. The only reason this place doesn't received the full five stars is because my cardiologist wouldn't approve, nor would my accountant. It is stunning, gorgeous, upscale, and nearly perfect for a steak house. A couple of things stood out during our visit last night. The first was that the acoustics were generally excellent, permitting easy conversation except during strange periods when 'club music' was blasted. But that was just intermittent. The second was that the service levels seems to have improved dramatically since they first opened -- our waiter was helpful and knowledgeable and a lot less concerned about pushing us to order additional items than about making sure our experience was flawless. If you love steak houses but are tired of the repetitive offerings of the national chains like Ruth's Chris, consider trying this iconoclast neighborhood gem.

Understanding that everyone is dealing with a lot...we were a little disappointed. This has always been one of our go to/favorites so sad to see it go downhill a little. I ll never understand why restaurants change things!

My husband and I tried this for our anniversary and we really plan for it since we are don t have much but we work hard and love food- not even in the middle class family. We are big foodies and our goal is to try new restaurants. The food is excellent- best pork chops I ever had - moist, melts in your mouth, big double chops. We also tried the bone marrow and OMG it was so rich and so good. Pastas are super good too. And best of all we were treated like a king and queen. My husband forgot hos card when we left and the staff run after us - a block away - just to give us the care. We feel bad since he was out of breath and sweating a lot but we were so grateful. This place is worth it for a very special date or event that you save up for. Surely be back next special occasion.

The Boston Strikers are a LGBTQ Soccer team and we recently held a dinner meeting at Boston Chops South End. The atmosphere is superb and the staff was very attentive and friendly. Of course, the food speaks for itself and is amazing. We will certainly be back.

Steak lovers rejoice! This place is amazing. The servers here go above and beyond to make sure your experience is nothing less than exceptional. Also can t go wrong with their bottomless fries as a side with your meal.

I had a very subpar experience at Boston Chops. I sat at the bar and ordered the Wagyu Bavette (cooked medium) Steak Frites. While flavorful, the beef was chewy and tough. The frites were underwhelming and reminiscent of fast food drive-through french fries. The two bartenders were inattentive and uninterested. This meal was definitely not worth the price. I cannot recommend this establishment.

I arrived early and the staff was very accommodating. The bartender was great company and made some great wine recommendations while I waited for my party to arrive. The service continued to be excellent at dinner. The food was excellent and all 7 of us had no issues or complaints. We will definitely return!

Inviting atmosphere and large space in the city so also good for larger groups. Consistently good food with a focus on meat. Tasty fries and friendly staff. Good go-to place if you want a good meal without overly high prices at other steak places.

Hands down my favorite restaurant in Boston. The BEST steak frites I;ce ever had - and the endless french fries don't hurt either. If you're looking for a delicious, reasonably priced dinner in Boston, look no further.

Excellent steaks. And their fries are my favorite fries. Sticky toffee pudding and warm chocolate cake for dessert are fantastic. A hit with the whole family. Kids love it, too. Service is consistently good.

Great as always, some things were definitely off tonight, caramel of the toffee pudding was overcooked, port was cold and tasted old, but we attributed that to the end of restaurant week and have never had issues before, always happy to return

Went here for restaurant week. The service was awesome. We went with four people and 3/4 ordered bone marrow with our dinner. They comp my girlfriend the 4th one so she did not feel left out. Oysters were fresh. Steak was okay, I still prefer Ruth Chris with the butter but that's just my own personal preference. Got toffee cake with ice cream for dessert. It was good but a bit too sweet. We also ate outside and it was a wonderful atmosphere.

Amazing brunch!!! Sticky buns given for the table. I ordered the Chorizo sandwich and my gf ordered the poached eggs, both excellent! Atmosphere is awesome. Definitely a top brunch spot in Boston!
