Boomtown Hotel Casino - Reno Review

Ate at the Mel's there. Quiet, attentative waitress. Decent food.

Boomtown had great food,resturants, service.
Not much choice on video slot machines and i did not see many jack pots being hit.

HUNKS. All male exotic dancers show.. Show was AROUSING and HOT....

The fun center there is the best in the area.You see this place packed with kids having fun cool almost carnival like ride,great opportunity for little people to ride carousel.I good to see somebody is doing it right!

We always stop on the way home and have steak and eggs and Mel's then play a little the casino is pretty fun not real busy but nice and clean got to you got to stop there before we go home at least I always do and as I stayed there too and then the rooms were very nice and I want some money too so check it out

Great little casino/hotel package. Pet-friendly rooms available. Lots of grass for walking your dog. Mel's Diner is the Cherry on Top!!! Yum! Cool pics, in booth jukeboxes and delicious food. Only downside is the smoke!!!

High price for the location, other than that nice place to stay

Very satisfied with the service, the cleanliness of the rooms, and especially with the prices and all the offers they offer.

Very decent small town feel here, the arcade is huge. The casino, overall, is extremely spacious, with Saturday night bustling with events, names out of a drum and contest winners announced over the P.A., Nice three piece band combo in their guitar corner. The (way overpriced) buffet's draw is the all-you-can-eat lobster, small in size and a hit & miss for flavor. Nonetheless, a fair amount of selections here. Service was top notch. Points for Peet's Coffee Bar & their Steakhouse, which looks delicious. They do book some terrific performers here & with sporting goods giant Cabela's next door - more reason to return.

Hey fellow rv'ers, you ain't welcome here! Here's the deal. I arrived at around 3:00 PM and parked where the trucks park although there's a koa down the street. I gamble a lot and was only going to be here one night anyway. After spending about 600.00 in the casino I returned to my RV and was interrupted by a loud knock at 10:00 pm by security who told me I couldn't stay there and that's why they have a koa. I call BS, Boomtown dont own that KOA. Anyway maybe I had been drinking for 6 hours and maybe they sent a drunk driver away in a very large vehicle. (What would have they done, thowed my RV) Think about it idiots! They told me Cabelas allows overnighters so I went over there. Anyway, that tells me there's no law preventing them from allowing overnighters. They just don't want or need our business. There was about 20 trucks there with there shades down and no one will convince me that everyone of those truckers weren't spending the night. What a joke. I had a great time until this ruined it for me. I won't be back. But, they probably dont care.

Great place for a short stay. Well staffed and friendly. Clean rooms.

We recently stayed at the Best Western Hotel & Resort and found the accommodations very up to date and comfortable. The room was equipped with a microwave, safe, refrigerator and coffee maker. The casino needs a few more up to date slot machines, in my opinion. All in all , it was a good trip.

The drawings are a joke. People with full plastic grocery bags of tickets. Not much of a chance for the average person coming up for the weekend to win. Someone @ Boomtown needs to find some fair rules for tickets. Maybe make them different colors for different weeks so they can't be saved up for weeks at a time. The more you play the more you get is ok. Make them for one week though.

I would highly recommend best Western. The host was acknowledged my entire family and made all my children laugh and assured them that they were in for a great time during their stay. Thats very assuring when traveling with 3 younger children. Smiles all around.

Check out experience was horrible. Are privacy was invaded twice in 15 minutes at 11:15am unacceptable.

lobster was kind of stale because of the sauce. desert was good.

Ate at the steak house last night(Sunday). Ordered the steak fillet mignon and shrimp. The service was over top. Every 2 mins a couple of ladies would come over for this and that. I like prvacy when with hubby. Now another set if ladies cane over took order. Food arrived and should have sebt it back. The meat looked like boot leather with brown salty goop. Old old meat reused! The shrimp is so large and under cook we thought it was jelly fish. Through this ordeal there were at least 4 different girls wondering over to our table. Overkill. Dennys has better food for sure. . Now our king suite was fantastic and won lots of $$$

I have enjoyed stopping here for more than 45 years. They have a lobster buffet Friday, Saturday and Sunday night's for 9.99. Gotta love it.

The hotel is small but has all the things you need to stay with a family. There are all different kinds of things for the kids to do. The hotel is not very far from Squaw Valley or Northstar.

Always a relaxing and friendly family environment. The staff is very courteous and helpful!

Went there for lunch...prime rib was what'd you would expect from a all-you-dare-to-eat place. But otherwise the food was fresh and we'll maintained

I am disabled I paid 180 dollars for a room that I couldn't even fit my Walker in the bathroom

Great stop to grab some good Dinner food at Mel's, and play some arcade games or slots.

Seems like a decent place to stay. The staff wasn't very well informed about their own booking procedures. Good luck! I'd consider staying again but i wouldn't book through the hotel.

Rooms are clean and nicely furnished. Beds are comfortable and restful.

Good-looking rooms, clean room, friendly staff down fall dont plan on swimming in the indoor pool unless you want to freeze your hind end off.

This place smells bad. It's dark, musty, and dank. Keep driving. There are plenty of better places down the road.

Nice place, the only problem the A/C in the casino, take a coat with a hood and gloves. It's freezing

5 people $200.24 all you can eat lobsters! Selection of food is minimal. Unlimited amounts of lobsters. Friendly and good service by the waiters and waitresses. I ate 7 lobsters and a few other stuff. I like to dip my lobster with the garlic butter. This place is great for lobster snackers.

What can I say....STOP...eat and enjoy yourself...you win...you loose....But who cares just enjoy yourself and have a good time doing it...make a new friend also the folks here will treat you right everytime...

Staying in the north tower, very nice suite. Comfortable king size bed, large tv, kitchen. Recommend.

Half the games didn't work but they took our money. All the games are too expensive. The only good thing they had they got rid of. It was the 3d movie ride.

We enjoy this hotel very much and usually return once a year to visit. Boomtown has a nice ambiance and the rooms are very comfortable. The fact that there is also a RV park across the street is nice. We enjoy the local parks that are close by and easily accessible by car. ...like Lake Tahoe and Truckee.

It was ok. Little bit older hotel. Not free breakfast.

Low budget dive much better places to visit in Reno

The restaurant experience changed my ranking from a 2 star to a 3 star.

1.) Room lock did not work. I walked alllllll the way back to the desk. They reset my key, however they were not willing to walk back with me to the room. Just told me that there is a phone at the end of the hall and dial "0" if the lock didn't work. Room lock didn't work the 2nd time so I called front desk and went back to the room to wait for maintenance. A gentleman in housekeeping noticed me standing in the hallway and let me in my room. It took maintenance nearly 30 minutes to get to my room.
2.) Iron did not steam - I did not report.
3.) Only one bath towel in room - I did not report.
4.) Fridge did not cool - I did not report.
5.) Front desk agent at check out did not inquire about my stay, so I did not say anything.

Boomtown buffet is one of the best attractions for foodies in Reno. Lots of selection to thoroughly gorge ones self!

Room was outstanding! Staff was wonderful! Gaming was fun! We will be back!

The hotel is fine; clean rooms and comfortable beds. The only problem we had was with the "Fun Center". It was not much fun at all for our grandkids because it was extremely understaffed. Paying $10 for a "pass" for unlimited rides on 4 venues plus miniature golf sounded great. BUT, there were only 2 employees working the entire Center for about an hour, followed by 3 employees after their dinner hour. Thus, we had to ask to have somebody open and run a ride. Very frustrating!

Boomtown Reno is an excellent place to stay. The staff are all very professional and helpful!

Expensive Fuel, but Carry's a large amount of products

Facility was conveniently located away from the hustle of the downtown area. Signing outside facility was inadequate. We were told to enter our room through the Convention Center. No sign was ever found. Having the fire alarm go off at 3:30am requiring evacuation of facility with no hotel staff visible to help us know where to go. It took the firetruck 40 minutes to arrive. Motel would have been burned down by then and we still would not know where to go. We were compensated for the this night with no charge. Smoke in the casino area was terrible and to get anyplace inside the facility required us to walk through the casino.

Clean, comfortable rooms. Amenities include tv, internet, refrigerator, coffee pot, microwave, hair dryer. Sufficient restaurants within the hotel.

Lobster buffet is offered Friday through Sunday. Prime rib buffet is on Thursday. The hotel itself is poorly designed. Vending machines are empty. Casino is filled with smoke. No free breakfast.

Absolute best burger I've had in a while. This was the San Franscico Burger. Must have. Waitress was attentive and prompt, very helpful. However, when I asked the greeter to change to another table she looked at me like I was asking too much. Greeter got thumbs down, but the waitress and cook made up for it.

Worst place ever. Buffet rubber! AC dont work! Sad run down place...

We had stayed here in the past (prior to BW taking over) and had good luck in the casino, paired with an inexpensive room and good food. Our kiddo wanted to swim in an indoor pool and we figured the arcade with all of its activities would be a great distraction from our 1000 miles plus drive home looming on the horizon. We arrived and checked in quickly and without issue. Our first room was apparently a non-smoking room previously occupied by a smoking patron who also decided to borrow a few light bulbs after disabling the smoke detector with a plastic bag. We called the front desk and had to go down to the front desk after 45 minutes of inaction, were given a new room and moved our stuff. The arcade was fun, albeit expensive, but our 3yo loved the carousel and ferris wheel, and got a few fun prizes as well. We returned to our new room and noted that the temperature had risen a few degrees (73 or so), but didn't think anything of it and went for a swim after setting the thermostat from 71 to 69. The pool was very quiet (and heavily chlorinated), but fairly unremarkable to be honest. We returned to our room, again it was warm but we shrugged it off and cleaned up for bed. As bed time approached, I turned to A/C down to 67 and we all crawled into bed. Approximately 1 hour later the room had breached 75 degrees. I tried opening the window (interior facing the indoor pool), changing the settings, increasing the thermostat to 70 (maybe I was freezing the line?), all to no avail. After the kiddo couldn't stay asleep from the warmth, and the wife and I couldn't shed any more layers, we gave up. Called the front desk and explained the situation. Told them we needed to sleep and needed a different room, and that we were willing to move to another floor/tower. They said OK and someone would bring us keys. New room, same floor/set up, sweltering heat after 20 minutes. We have sent an email to the BW corporate complaint line and are awaiting a reply. Super frustrating and disappointed at the lack of customer service and support. This place could be an exceptional value and a fun place for families looking to relax, but getting multiple rooms with A/C issues and no sleep totally offsets all of that.

1st of the year we take coin change bottle There to cash it out it's a tradition then we usually go to the buffet this time they had lobster pretty good with your players card it's only $ 7.77

They need to improve cleaning the rooms are dirty the bathroom is not very clean with all respect that is my suggestion.

The BEST place to stay in that area!! ..wiil stay here every time I am headed to Calafornia .... will be back in 3 dayes and I am looking forward to a nice two days of rest ... thank you for a great experance!!

Read what I just wrote...lighting in room awful...get rid of those stupid bulbs and put a sign on door to please shut lights when leaving room. Pillows on bed, too many...why that bill roll pillow? Fridge was nice and cold. Didn't watch tv. Maid service really good. Food good. Love Boomtown/
