This is a bookstore that really is busy and has great selections of books and gifts. I always wait to stop here before we leave SC because my wife and I end up spending a lot of time here. It is definitely an active place and during Christmas they had it down for checking people out and moving hundreds of customers through as smooth as humanly possible! All stores should be that efficient. Prices are reasonable and they have a lot of cool things there for sale. I even like the smell of this place... Just the right library book-ish smell. You can't get that from your damn E-READERS!

Loved it! Not many book stores left like this from where I'm at. I enjoyed walking around and seeing books from all authors. I recommend stopping by, set down and find something quick to read. Youll understand why it was such a great experience to come into Bookshop Santa Cruz!

Love this local bookstore. It's been around for as long as I can remember. Located in downtown Santa Cruz. It's one of my favorite shops to walk around and browse their collection of books. Be sure to check out the guest speakers. There's always an event going on.

Best bookstore ever!!! It's beautiful, welcoming, service oriented, fun, and a Santa Cruz landmark. I love hanging out there, reading to my grandson, and of course, buying a great book or three.

The best stocked book store in the County! I don't know that for sure because I haven't visited ALL the bookstores in the county. I can't imagine they wouldn't have something for which I was looking.

I love the layout of this little bookstore in downtown Santa Cruz. It seems like they have more content geared toward creatives, considering the size of the store. I really enjoyed the "Process" section, which was right by the "Graffiti" photo books and across from crafting/sewing.

I had a bit of a hard time navigating Nonfiction. I generally gravitate toward self development, but instead the stacks were organized by author. Have to say, it actually caused me to do more browsing than usual. I learned a thing or two about my energy personality type ;) lol

If you're a bookworm like me, don't miss the opportunity to poke your head in here. It's totally worth it!

Like so many people in Santa Cruz, I have been a customer since I bought textbooks there in the late 70s. Can't say enough about their contributions to the community, or about their sterling customer service. They are the heart of Santa Cruz.

One of my favorite places to get lost in Santa Cruz. Staff is always helpful and friendly, and there is always something special going on. I especially enjoy the seasonal reading challenges. Perk is you can drop off books at 9am sharp for store credit or cash!

With Logo's gone, its hard to replace that I think was a treasure trove of used books and random finds. Bookshop appeals to the consumer who wants a book in whatever subject they please, easily categorized for the customer to be able to look through. Though they do have used books, I'd say it's more in the realm of a Barnes and Noble or AmazonBooks than a place you go to find good books on the cheap.

Still a great place and worth a look as you might find something of interest there!

Cozy, good selection, knowledgeable peeps even if they do a poor job of making small talk with nonpassing trans folks as well as they do the cis customers before and after them. #awkward

The only independent bookseller left (that I know of) in Santa Cruz, and one of the best independent booksellers on the West Coast, Bookshop Santa Cruz has just about anything you might be looking for in a book. It s presence in Santa Cruz brings a feeling of community to the downtown area. From the authors they host to the books they can get for you, there is no doubt, we are lucky to have them.

A gem!

Horrible employee or Manager.. My friend had been setting off the security alarms at doorways the entire day for unknown reasons (we could only assume it was his braces the set it off) and upon leaving the book store it happened again. We were chased down by who I would assume is one of the managers or assistant manager (a tall older gentleman) and asked to remove everything out of his pockets. For the sake of being compliant, he did so while explaining our current predicament. The whole time he was being incredibly rude and extremely presumptuous, while simultaneously blocking off the entrance from other customers (not to mention how embarrassing it must have been to be harassed and treated like a criminal in front of everybody). He would not let us leave until my friend practically stripped down to just his jeans. Another (nicer) lady employee or Manager came and took my friends sweatshirt away and scanned it. I'm most upset about the fact that this guy lacked any amount of common sense or respect, given the fact we left the store in no hurry, and came back to be compliant, i think that anyone and their grandmother could have seen that we were not thieves. All in all, it was a worse experience than going through TSA with half the respect they would give you..
