The resturant itself has a nice atmosphere. But the food on the other hand.... Not as good as these pictures online make it. The oysters looked good and tasted ok. But 2 days later my friend is super sick. He's been on the toilet with food poisoning. I will never revisit and if you do beware the oysters.

Had a great time. Our waitress made the experience in this historic building even better. The food was phenomenal and their beer selection was great for the area (not to mention you can take it to go.)

It was amazing! The burger I got was cooked perfect and the house sauce was delicious. My wife ordered the crab stew and the cheese grits were out of this world! JT our server was awesome too, he was very helpful and always checking on us. We will definitely be back.

This place is awesome. Over the 5 years I have visited Savannah several times and each time I make a point to come here and have the Hot Georgia Brown. Every time I have it is as good as the last. I will definitely be back in the future.

I'm so glad we stopped in here during our visit to Savannah. Our server was Kevin and he went over the specialties, answered any questions we had, and was very gracious. The fried green tomatoes were delicious! We had shrimp & grits which were creamy and the sauce was excellent.

Nailed It! Great courteous staff that went out of the way to make sure my party was well taken care of during our entire meal. Food was superb. Absolutely, made my steak to my request of medium rare. Great atmosphere too. Was one of my highlights of my Savannah trip.

Stuffed shrimp with angel hair pasta and warm chocolate bread pudding are my favorite. I would not come to Savannah if I could not eat here!!! They are ALWAYS consistent in food/ service. Keep it up and don't change a thing!!

Nothing special decor-wise. Kinda hard to miss, in fact, as it's on a corner off River St. But the food is phenomenal! The pork chop with peach chutney was to die for. So were the bbq shrimp!

I had my rehearsal lunch for our wedding there on Saturday April 26. I LOVE this place. The food is delicious and the waitstaff has such great southern hospitality. Sharlene, the manager, customized a menu for our guests. Even with a party of 28, they took such great care of us that we felt we were they only guests in the restaurant. My only complaint is that the very next day, my wedding day, I received a call saying they forgot to charge us for appetizers and they will just charge it to our card. I was a little annoyed that the call was placed on my wedding day and I also felt that the restaurant should have absorbed some of the cost because it was their mistake. However, the food and their service was so exceptional that I didn't let it bother me too much. Bottom line, visit Boar's Head, you won't regret it!

This restaurant is AWESOME! The vibe is pirate ship meets pub. The food is sooooo good! Literally the BEST SHRIMP AND GRITS YOU WILL EAT ANYWHERE! Our server Joe was on point with recommendations and the bartender made a perfect martini. Also the Manager is so passionate and welcoming made the wait easy. This place is a must in a town of good eats!

The place is characteristic, there are not many seats, it is worth booking.
The beers are good, the choice is not very wide.
I took swordfish, the service was not very good, not very fast.
Average high prices.

Hotel concierge made reservation for us, was to have window seat overlooking the river. Window table was not set aside as requested, being on our honeymoon this lack of effort by the restaraunt left a foul taste....the individual who sat us said we can see the window, ouch what a lame statement!

Great atmosphere. Service was excellent. Will visit again when we are in Savannah. Try the Shrimp and Grits as well as the Ribeye. Steaks cooked perfectly, cocktails were excellent. This is a highly recommend from folks who eat all over the world. It s a gem.

I was excited to visit here but left a little disappointed. Took forever to get someone to help us get a table even though we kept seeing waitresses pass directly by us. Nobody greeted us either, weird. When we were finally seated it took a long time to get service as well. The food was "ok" but nothing worth remembering. The bartender was overly friendly with her customers at the bar, to the point that we could hear their chatter and laughing at our table. Maybe that's the spot to be? Just meh.

The service was excellent with Haley and the locally caught Swordfish covered in olives, capers, red peppers and goat cheese with Basmati rice was amazing!! My wife had the Shrimp and grits with Andouille sausage that was a superb dish with a hint of cajun! Definitely a place anyone should visit for an excellent meal on the river while in Savannah!

Kevin was our waiter and gave us wonderful service from wine to food to even info about Savannah and how to see the sights of Savannah.
We came in for dinner (7pm) but we had stopped for a late lunch driving up from Jacksonville, Fl so we really didn't want a full meal.
We had a nice window view of the river.
We decided on appetizers. We chose the bacon wrapped Shrimp( cooked perfectly), the Oysters Rockefeller, (which came with Cheddar cheese, a nice twist from the usual and very good ) and the Green fried tomatoes , were great and not greasy at all, though my Mother didn't like them with the gorgonzola cheese, I did.
Full bar with great selection of Wines.
Overall, great place, nice atmosphere, wasnt busy but its Monday night. The prices are upscale, but not outrageous for River St . I highly recommend !

Nice little restaurant and bar. Bar located right when you come in and restaurant section is right past that. This is located in one of the old River street warehouses. You can see the old beams and wood all over. #datenight #healthyFood came quick and was very good. Large portions and not overpriced like some restaurants on River street. Service was very good and friendly. Have some good prices on there drink specials. Great views out the window overlooking the river. Can see the huge ships going by and your sitting up level with them. The view is amazing. Candy store is located right underneath here so you can stop in for dessert. They have a great selection of icecream , chocolate and candy.

Boats head was recommended by our concierge at the Best Western. An Old Savannah tour guide echoed the recommendation. We were not disappointed. In fact, given most of the establishments we passed on River St, our expectations were somewhat lower, but this restaurant fully exceeded! The food was delicious! Best cheese grits we ve ever had! The salmon special in a peach bbq sauce was awesome! The shrimp and grits was tremendous! Excellent she crab soup and spinach salad. And ended with the BEST key lime pie we ve had! Our waitress Austin, went above and beyond, with her initiative on handling our requests and making suggestions. All in all, an outstanding experience!!

This place was recommended by our motel, and we were expecting a lot better service than we received. Early dinner so it was not busy. Waiter was not very interested in us being there. I had the Mixed green salad and the BBQ shrip that were excellent. However my spouse ordered the salmon with cheddar cheese grits. He got his salmon but no cheddar cheese grits. Although it was listed on the menu as all dinners come with bread and a side, he ordered garlic mashed potatoes and the waiter informed us that the potatoes were in place of the grits. A bit on the pricey side for what we received service and food wise. $57.00 for the two of us and we drank water.

Loved the old building. Great location (despite the ). Friendly staff, who kept us up to date on the length of time for the food. They had been inundated by a large party before we arrived. The peach sangria was very good. Get the black eyed pea and ham soup. Very flavorful and filling. My Mom's beef kebab lunch special looked great and she enjoyed it.

Finally found a place in Savannah on the waterfront that don't run out of food! Great food, service, excellent prices! It was a birthday celebration, they gave us free desserts and alcoholic beverages. You got to try the Boars Head Gimlet! Best drink I ever had, didn't water it down or skimp on alcohol! We visited twice on our trip and exceptional each time! Older gentleman was hostess gave great recommendations each time and spot on every time! Thanks for a great time!!

What?! This place is 7 STARS!! Great cozy place with the kitchen exposed into the middle dining room and bar...Enjoy the massive smells pouring out of there. Me and my wife both had the ribeye. Our waiter was exceptional. The food was just great. I am a bernaise guy and my wife got the Gorgonzola butter...I am in love with it. I want to rub it on my clothing. I would swim in it with streak swimming trunks. Rediculous...Good!

Friendly service, convenient location if you are staying along the river. The shrimp and grits are amazing!

This is the appetizer, shrimp and grits. My next visit I am getting the entree.

Loved the place so much, we went two nights in a row. The staff is amazing, so service was great and friendly. The food and drinks were out of this world. All of this in a historic bar in a great city. Not a threat, we will be back!!!!

Cool, dark atmosphere. Wonderfully welcoming host. But the food was only 'good'. Certainly not as remarkable as the hubbub (the beef we were told was melt in mouth-- not really). And one meal was done wrong, so the correct chick dish was held and kinda dried out while awaiting. A better place would have just remade the meal.
Not worth the $$ to repeat.

We loved the atmosphere and the river views. Whoever chooses the playlist has great taste in music. The food was delicious, you can t go wrong with anything on the menu. Everything is fresh and made in house. Our waiter was professional and amazing at his job. We can t wait to bring all of our traveling family and friends who visit to this place. Best place to eat on river street .

Had dinner here and LOVED everything!
Appetizer of fried green tomatoes was the BEST we have ever eaten!! Not greasy at all. Chicken Alfredo with prosciutto... Yummo!!!
Waiter was really nice and kept our glasses full... Very clean place with extremely friendly staff and awesome food!

They did not disappoint. We had the barbecue shrimp, shrimp and grits, filet and crab cakes. It was all excellent. Oh but wait there s more...the chocolate bread pudding is the best dessert in a long time. Highly recommend.

I am local to Savannah and this place is phenomenal. The best service I have ever had in Savannah and the food is amazing! I have never had anything that I did not love, and I am pretty picky because I love to cook. The steak was cooked perfectly and the swordfish was incredible. I definitely recommend eating here.

From the time we walked in my waitress seemed rushed. She told me the kitchen was closing early ( we got there at 9:45) so maybe that was why. I ordered a she crab soup that was warm & not as smooth as some of the better ones I have had. I wanted to have the salmon & add a side of parmesan cream sauce, but she informed me that a side of sauce would run me $15. As the entree with the parmesan sauce only cost $22 I am a bit confused on the math on this . I settled for a crab cake that had way too many peppers & onions. I would not go back to this restaurant.

Super fast service, simple but nice dishes. The prices are a bit high but consistent with the local offer. A good destination if you are traveling with children, the room is quite large and the atmosphere authentic.

As advertised, a southern civil war era tavern sitting on the river in the heart of downtown Savannah. The ambience is outstanding, the drinks were good, the food was a not bad, but not really anything super-special. I was surprised in that although there were a variety of entrees to choose from, the menu was less extensive than I had expected and wasn't really focused on southern cuisine. Service was as expected as well, good, but not outstanding. Not the restaurant's fault, but parking in downtown Savannah near the river on a Saturday night is a nightmare.

Everything from the food to the service was top notch. The employees all work very well together and the food was just outstanding. We tried the wedge salad, the black eyed pea and ham soup, bbq shrimp, chicken piccata, pork chop and jack Daniel's chocolate praline pie all for under 100$! We were very pleased. We also learned that the building was the very 1st restaurant on river street in Savannah. Cool place. Great features. Must try! I recommend making a reservation.

We first entered the establishment and received a very warm greeting and quickly escorted to our table( we had reservations). Our server was there to take our drink order and recommend the house specials, we started our culinary Experience began with the fresh tomatoes and marcelo smothered in a balsamic house dressing. The wife ordered the stuffed shrimp and I the Swordfish. To say that we were pleased would be an understatement. Over all the experience was amazing and joined the food and service very much highly recommended.
