Great food, live music and good people. Highly recommend if you are in the area.
Great food, live music and good people. Highly recommend if you are in the area.
Food and service is always top notch. Definitely one of our favorite restaurants. Love the atmosphere. Wine and beer selection is also very good. Highly recommend.
Sweet waitress, quality delicious food, great atmosphere. Must go again
Good food, however the pairings of flavors didn't all mix. Interesting atmosphere.
Great food. Great entertainment on open mic night. I had the pickled brine chicken, two breakfast nitro stouts (should have stopped at one!) And blueberry pie dessert. I would eat here again. The locals tell me the trout and grits are to die for.
Waited forever, they mixed my food with someone else's then tried to switch after I was eating and super expensive.
I recently had dinner there with my wife and mother-in-law. All of us were very thrilled with the food and the waiter was terrific funny guy but very attentive. The decor was kind of interesting, not at all what you would expect to see. I'd almost call it sort of trendy. There were plenty of people in there and it was a fair amount of noise but that's what you get when the place is popular and busy. I liked it, and we'll be sure to go back again next time I'm in Charleston.
Cool place to sit and look at art and the food is great
Excellent menu when you aren t interested in a the same ol thing. Best spot in town if you have vegetarian or vegan friends. Staff is kind and attentive.
This is definitely one of my favorite restaurants in Charleston. I have never had bad food or bad service here.
Great service meh food. Our waitress Lauren was awesome! She was very helpful and friendly! The best part of this restaurant!! The food itself lacked flavor and was not worth the $$-$$$ price. Dessert was delicious (but from a local bakery). Thank you for all of your help, Lauren!!
Nice little place with an interesting menu and decor. Great live music!
Usually the food is awesome. They must have been having a bad night. Because the food wasn't very good the fries were cold and tasted like they they had been cooked early and reheated, the pita bread was very stale. The mashed potatoes, maybe cooked yesterday reheated then mashed.
Meatloaf was good. Blueberry pie was awesome. Good & friendly service.
Very fun dining experience. Tucked in historic downtown areas- this very eclectic eatery features high quality exclusive hand made ingredients that scream FRESH & HOME. The artistic gallery setting provided a colorful backdrop to this wonderful dining experience. Highly recommended.
The service is great and staff is very hospitable. Great place with good live music. The artwork is a nice accent, and overall the atmosphere is casual while the food is that of a high-end eatery. I would recommend it if you re in the area, whether looking for a quick lunch or hosting an event.
Super tasty lunch. Jordan is a cool dude who gave us friendly, quick and accommodating service. Good vibes.
Great restaurant and great owners. Everything is good, but I m completely obsessed with the tofu wings. They are delicious!
Great local food! The fish and chips was wonderful!
Nice staff and good drinks. Our food took a long time to come because they were very busy and seemed to only have a couple wait staff. But otherwise a pleasant experience.
Had not been on while. It is soooo much better now. Might be my new go to spot:).
Delicious food with great portion's. Deserts are out of this world. We love the Blueberry Buttermilk pie!!
Food was great. Options for everyone since I'm a vegeterian and was with 2 meat eaters. We all left very happy. The wait staff wasn't overly friendly, but still very good. Definitely recommend if in the area.
Fantastic meatloaf and blueberry buttermilk pie. Funky and cool.
Brunch is the bomb. Nice beer selection, and great Bloody Marys. Look forward to visiting again.
I went to this place 6 months ago and I'm still thinking about what a great meal I had. My boyfriend and I have traveled quite a bit and if this isn't our absolute favorite place that we've ever eaten, then it is certainly top 3. My fish was PERFECTLY cooked. All of the sides were amazing. Desserts were great also. Such a comfortable space to enjoy a meal. Live music... I really can't write a positive enough review.
Such a great place. Walked in to a three piece bluegrass band--stellar way to start a meal. The meatloaf was flavor explosion, trout was perfect, pizza a tad overlooked but tasty, sons rib philly so good. Drinks were creative yet classy. Ambiance five stars. Boon for charleston.
Great food made with fresh, quality ingredients. No schlocky salt-laden Conagra-tasting stuff here.
Our waitress was awesome! And I loved the fact they had Mckenzie's Pineapple Hemp cider on draught. The food that our party got lacked flavor all around. Which was a little disappointing but it could've just been an off night. Won't stop me from going back and supporting local!
I visited this place in February and thought it was great. I haven't been back since then because I live out of town, but my second experience was very disappointing. Dismal service at the bar and my food took over 30 minutes, and it wasn't even that busy. The food was still good and I really like their menu options, but I won't be in any hurry to get back.
Vegan was awesome! And there food on the regular is delicious. Now I need to check out their brunch!
Love the vibe. Great staff. Parking lot. Salad was good. Decent hardy sandwich but was admittedly a little dry. Wonderful baked desserts. Dining room showcases local art. Highly recommended!!
My first visit there but not my last, split the Rustic Italian Philly and The Perfect Chicken sandwiches with a friend it was ''GREAT"" ,also a great beer list, see ya soon !!!!!
This is a charming, hippie-chic spot, with outstanding food, and occasionally interesting love music.
The live music is not in the main dining area, so the noise from that isn't too bad, but I would love it if they'd find just a few sound absorbing tiles to quiet the noise of conversation during the meal.
With that complaint out of the way, I still recommend BGK unequivocally because of the outstanding food. The shrimp and grits I had for lunch were simply delicious, and the corned beef and hash got good reviews at our table also.
Hip/eclectic vibe. Love the interior of the place. Great service and friendly staff. My first time eating all vegetarian and it was actually good. They have some great sounding meat options though.
Favorite all time restaurant ever! No matter what I have ever gotten off the menu, the food is always fantastic. I love that they have new specials everyday. The brunch served is also amazing.
I've been to a lot of brunch spots across the country. This is in the top 5, no questions asked. If you're in Charleston, GO HERE FOR BRUNCH!
I am trying to eat healthier but not sure they knew what sodium content was. Food was pretty good.
Great brunch. Don't know why this is listed as vegetarian because it certainly isn't.
Food was pretty good they've got some great art! Not great for lunch though, definitely more breakfast than lunch in their brunch
Home made chips were amazing and fresh made. The hamburger was no frozen patty and tasty especially with the pimento cheese. The ambiance was great. We were welcomed by great employees and a great server, Rose. Not from the area, but will come back every time I'm in the area. Thanks for the experience guys!
Cool atmosphere, good food, friendly staff. I'll be back.
Always have great service and really good food. Always very satisfied here. Sunday brunch was terrific.
Represents our East End community, the best of West Virginia, through food, art, and staff.
What a hidden gem! Can't wait to come back and try other menu selections.
Passing though the town on a road trip. Came in and sat at the bar. Waited for 15mins before even being asked what I would like to drink and given a menu. Not cool. Yep it's a Sunday at lunch time! How about having the right amount of staff for your bar area.
Ended up having to get the omelet .....after being told they don't have gluten free bread and my second choice they were out of potato skins to make it.
Probably won't be back. Poorly run business model.
Poor service and not so great food. I've never understood how this place is still open.
Pleasantly surprised about how many veggie options have been added. I think the prices are a bit high but still very good.
Bluegrass is one of the only places in town to get fresh, organic, locally grown and healthy food. The salads are great lunch options, and the brunch is excellent. You can also find unique cocktail options.
Southern cooking with friendly service. The food was ok, but nothing special.
This is my favorite restaurant! We are from Sharon, Pa and this restaurant is sooo worth going to! Their attention to detail and service is outstanding, a true culinary gem in Charleston, West Virginia. Breakfast or Lunch, both are excellent, service is excellent, their so good, be prepared to wait for a table for Sunday Brunch. The atmosphere is hip with bluegrass bands on the weekend! A must stop when your in town!
Can't say enough about this place. Great, healthy food selection. Cooked fresh to order with lots of flavor and good portions. It does get busy, so food service can be slow.
Best steak I've had in a very long time! Great service too!
I love breakfast food, and consider myself a brunch connoisseur. I thought I'd had the best there is. I thought I'd seen it all. I was wrong. On a whim while driving from Lewisburg to Louisville, my wife and I stopped in here. I didn't know what to expect, and wasn't expecting much. We sat at the bar, and both ordered the Corned Beef Hash Stack. And that's where my expectations collided face first with reality. This is the best plate of brunch food to ever grace my mouth. I'm from Kansas, and we think we know a little about beef down there. We don't know a damn thing. This is the best representation of beef that has ever been made. The saltiness, crunchiness (it's both crunchy and tender at the same time! Every bite!), coupled with the perfect amount of peppered gravy and thinly sliced sauted peppers and onions. This is how breakfast should be served. Every day. We will be back.
Food was under flavored and staff was rude also the table was dirty from the people before us. There are better places to eat in town, save yourself the trouble.
Very hip joint! Live music. Cool art for sale on the walls and an awesome selection of cocktails! Our server had us laughing and enjoying ourselves while doing her job very well. The food all came out beautifully. A unique menu that changes frequently. Looking forward to another visit
Fantastic! The beer cheese fondue was a great appetizer. I had the braised short ribs which were incredibly tender and delicious, and my mother had the sea bass which was the best she's ever had. She's traveled all over the world, but she says the Bluegrass Kitchen is on her short list.
Great place with WV fresh food and good "artsy" feeling"
Darn good vegetarian options.
Key lime pie was one of the best I've ever had
Hummus and local brews so far.. They were open late after Vandalia Day. Great spot.
Great beer selection, great atmosphere, and I LOVE their Trout, cheesy grits, and kale. Try it!
Discovered today they are no longer open for lunch. Seems shortsighted given the volume of potential patrons at hand at the Capitol complex a block away and general dearth of locations offering lunch in the vicinity...
Very obscure place, not many menu items that would be appealing to the average person. The corned beef on the reuben was some of the least flavorful meat i've ever had. Extremely overpriced and even worse when it comes to weird side dishes and excessive sauces that no one has ever heard of. Seemed to get a weird hippy vibe, Would be 5 stars if they svrapped the idea of trying to be "sustainable" and focus on serving cheap comfort food that actually tastes good.
Fantastic food, fun atmosphere, friendly helpful staff, great entertainment. My favorite restaurant in West Virginia. Go there if at all possible. Wish I could give it 10 stars!
Great selection, staff, and drink options for brunch! Molly was superb and guided us to the perfect meal selection. We even took blueberry pie home!
Good not great food. Eclectic menu with vegetarian options. Local organic food. A little pricey.
We have been here a few times and usually just have a drink to relax. This time we decided to sit and have a meal. One of the meals was good but not great. The other was abysmal. The chicken sandwich was the worst chicken sandwich I have had in recent history. We sat at the bar and waited for about 30 minutes to get food that was not palatable. The chicken so dry I could not swallow. I had 2 bites out of it and could not do any more. The Bartender came and asked how the other meal was and looked at my sandwich and promptly walked away. When he came back he again asked of the pasta was good and never even gave me a chance to explain why an entire $17 sandwich was mostly untouched. I will not be returning here.
Do not go before 5 unless you want an app or sandwich. The place is showing it's age. Did not eat here.
Drove through on our way back to Indiana. Made me want to move to WV. Amazing food, selection, and service.
Great brunch, shrimp and grits, potato cakes, corn beef hash fork tender, great service! Only good!
Plan on comint back here later in the evening. I feel it should be given another chance at a different hour during the day
Dinner was amazing. Atmosphere was great. Try the blueberry pie!
Exceptional. Exceptionally tasty, exceptionally friendly, exceptionally good music, exceptional vibes. I would easily be a regular at this place. Easily!
Great place for food conversation and live music. Friendly service. Good destination for get togethers
Great meal during restaurant week . Too noisy to talk.
Decent food - fun atmosphere - friendly staff - did not mind me "camping" for the afternoon. WiFi.
Outstanding food. Sweet potatoe curry soup phenomenal and the burger was fresh made. Not frozen or pre-pattied. The employees were friendly and easy to talk to. And the service was wonderful. Atmosphere is inviting. The prices are more then fair for the quality of the food. I'm from out of the area and will return here anytime I'm in the area. #voices
Awesome brisket sandwich, good live music, spacious setting. You won't be disappointed!
One of my absolute favorite restaurants in Charleston. Wonderful food, wonderful atmosphere. You can tell that everything is homemade.
Food here is STELLAR! Just had the Mulligatawny soup! Soooo YUM!
