Great food and service! Unbeatable dining experience!
Went here for my dad s birthday and we ordered the seafood tower among other things. The waiter was super friendly and we shared a lot of our experiences travelling. I loved their jelly fish dish in the seafood tower.
Food always perfect. One of the best wine lists in the city. You get what you pay for.
Best service I've had in a while at the restaurant, and food was incredible, seafood tower is a must to order!
Their Atlantic Lobster with mashed potatoes, veggies, and creamy butter broth is just amazing. I've gone to Blue Water Cafe every year, and they never disappoint. Their staff is very professional and they make sure that you are satisfied. Dress semi-casual! The place looks fancy and the prices are pretty fancy too (about $40 for 1 lb of lobster). You won't regret it, though. There is a limited option for those who prefer to eat meat rather than delicious critters from the sea.
Plus, they also serve fresh complimentary bread rolls with tasty spread!
The food was excellent and the service was 5 stars. I recommend the blue water cafe for seafood and meat lovers. There's something for everybody.
Food and atmosphere were both merely satisfactory; save your money and go somewhere else. Wouldn't recommend even if the prices were 50% lower...
I have eaten here several times and the food always blows my mind. Incredibly well thought out, beautifully presented and perfectly served. The wine list is sensational, our Somm, Caleb was extremely knowledgeable and helpful.
Quite pricey and very busy but totally worth it, the lobster and salmon was on point
We went to this place for the first time today and I must say it s an amazing place for a great night out !!! The food and service was exceptional.
I have dairy intolerance so I mentioned it to my server in the very beginning and until the very end he made sure I am enjoying everything just the way I like it :) I forgot his name but he was so professional, and great at what he was doing.
I am very impressed with this place !! I am a very picky eater and very hard to impress when it comes to restaurants but this place exceeded mine and my husbands expectations tonight. A very special thanks giving experience
The seafood looked amazing and the server really knew his stuff. Vegetarian options are very limited. I tried their risotto and it was just average. Lucky I was there for the company not for the food.
I specially took a later flight to enjoy seafood at this sensational seafood restaurant. It's a bit noisy, but that shows how popular the store is. At least as good as the restaurant is the bar and the bartenders, who mix great even the rarest of cocktails.
excellent local oysters, nice wine list, great service.
I loved this place. I fell in love with me who loves seafood
Great ambience . Seafood. Wish there was another one in new Westminster
Honestly there isnt a bad thing to say about this place. My future hubby took me here fof my birthday. We were greates by two amazing hostesses who took my jacket and coat checked it. We were seated imediately. They placed a Birthday card on the table for me!!!! Amazing ... Our WONDERFUL server promptly got us drinks and told us about everything. Our food was to DIE FOR. I highly recommend coming here. It is worth every cent.
We had our (small) wedding dinner here and it was flawless. Visited again more recently, a year later, and was equally impressed with the service, food and overall experience. Their seafood towers are amazing and I highly reccomend trying one one day
Great atmosphere, great food and thank Sheena for the great service.
Top Table group is always above expectations.
As always, outstanding! Sat at the bar for drinks and dinner, and the evening couldnt have been more enjoyable!! My favorite bar!
Food is amazing, especially the seafood tower! Everything on the tower is about as good as it gets, except perhaps the lobster, which instead of being "outstanding" or "mind-blowing," is simply "quite good."
Great service and dining experience. Definitely going back again if I ever drop by in Vancouver again.
A seafood lover's delight. It was the first time I ever deliberately ate oysters (wasn't fond of them for my whole life) and they were great. It was a posh atmosphere!
We went in search of fresh salmon. The server told us that the salmon was very good, but if we really wanted something amazing, try the Sablefish. We had never heard of sablefish, but it was the same price, so why not? When it came, we were blown away by how perfectly it was cooked, and how melt-in-your-mouth tender it was. Dinner for two, without drinks, was $96. more than we have ever spent on a meal, but it was worth every cent. Highly recommended.
A word to the wise - never order Mexican food in Canada (see the guy that ordered a quesadilla). Come to Arizona for Mexican food - get seafood in Vancouver.
My second highly recommended restaurant that you must visit in Vancouver if you are traveler . Expect leave some money but its worse it! Lots of wine selections for wine lovers, delicious fresh food and outstanding service. Our order platter for two(20$ per person); crab roll and sashimi ;Kobe style short ribs -love it!!! and Link code...Everything perfect !! Don't forget to make a reservation !!
Some of the best service I have ever had. The seafood was some of the best prepared and freshest I have had. I grew up on the ocean and this was in the top 3 seafood places I have been.
This place is pretty cool. The lobster and oysters are amazing. Waiters are so polite that makes me feels like a VIP.
Upscale. Fresh. Fancy. Pricey. Wished for bigger portions. Nice presentation. Taste was average. Not much elbow room between tables. Could hear every word from the table next to us. Left feeling broke and hungry.
Loved our dinner at Blue Water Cafe. The food was excellent, and our waitress Jennifer was extremely friendly and helpful. I highly recommend this place.
I loved my experience at this restaurant! Starting with a variety of oysters, fresh beef sashimi, sampler plate, lobster and wyagu dinner. This place is incredible!! I Highly Recommend! Our waitress Natasha spent a good amount of time with us and was very knowledgeable and that made the dinner even better!
Last night we had a family dine in at blue water cafe, it was really great experiences. I really enjoyed the halibut dish recommended by our server.
Located in an upscale and hip neighborhood this place is a gem. The ambiance of the restaurant was fine dinning without being pretentious. The food was excellent we enjoyed everything we had. And the service was incredible. Loved it.
Great view, very courteous staff, and the atmosphere is a place you never want to leave.
One of my favorite restaurants to drop in with clients when out of town
Never had a bad experience here
We came here on a special dining event. They were serving adventurous food that they don't normally put on the menu. You can tell the chef experimented a lot with that menu because there were a lot of texture and flavour that you normally would not find together. It was thoroughly enjoyable.
Well served. The food was great. A cozy atmosphere. I LOVE it!!!
Amazing chefs, great informative and personable staff. Pricey but compared to other places I have rated 5 stars, this would be 6 stars. Raises the bar...
Great location and amazing service. Our clients love going to Blue water cafe for an amazing evening out. Keep up the good work!
Excellent food, exquisite flavors and the best service.
This was one of those memories that makes life special. Fabulous food and wonderful service.
My favorite restaurant in the world! I think I have dined here over 50 times:)
Average service. Food was below expectation. Scallop was way too salty. Sable was creamy but flavorless.
If I could use one word to describe my experience here it would be disappointing. This review is going to be lengthy, just a heads up.
My boyfriend and I love going to fine dining restaurants that specialize in seafood. We don t mind paying good price if it means delicious, high quality food and great service. Last night (Feb 16) we went to blue water cafe because of the good reviews it has, however, it will absolutely be our last visit. Below are the main reasons why.
1) poor, poor service.
The server we had was friendly to start and acknowledged us within a few minutes of sitting down. He got us water and some bread. However, it took him about 25 minutes before even asking what we wanted to drink. Meanwhile, he visited the table next to us 3-4 times. (They ordered dessert and finished it within this time) When we finally got our drinks 30-35 minutes later, WE asked if we could order food and he said sure, and started taking down our order finally. However, in the middle of placing our order, he interrupted and said, excuse me and went back to the table next to us (again, for the 5th time) to see how they were doing. We thought this was extremely rude and it was at that point we knew exactly what was going on. We re young and the server probably thought we weren t going to tip so he didn t care as much about us as the other tables he had. Well we always tip 20+ per cent on our bills because my boyfriend was a server for a long time and we know how terrible it is to stiff servers. This was our experience with the service all night.
2) the food was NOT great.
For reference, we ordered some oysters and a shrimp cocktail as appetizers. The oysters were great but the cocktail had too much sauce; it almost looked like a bit of thick soup was poured into the bowl, but we were starving so we ate it. Then, my boyfriend ordered the yellowknife tuna (I think that s what it s called) and I ordered the scallops main dish. My dish was around $45 and extremely disappointing. It was clear the star of the dish were the onions which were inconsistently cooked, and muted the scallops. Some were raw, some soft. There were 5 or so small scallops on the dish, also inconsistently cooked. (scallops are hard to cook but cmon, for $40 and only 5 scallops it should be a perfectly cooked dish). There was also a small rice cake on my dish which tasted burnt. I did not finish my dish. The server did ask how our food tasted but I am not sure he heard me because he just walked away.
We work very hard for our money and look forward to going out to fine dining restaurants once every month/couple of months. This experience sucked, and instead of having a good conversation we couldn t help but discuss how disappointed we were. We tipped our server 15% but could have done better had we not been forgotten about by our sever. We will continue to visit our favourite seafood restaurant in the city, Coast, regularly and instead of coming to Blue Water Cafe, we strongly encourage you to save yourself the disappointment and go straight to Coast.
Simply divine. Highly recommend the 2 lb tank fresh lobster with 5 grams of truffle and a couple of grilled prawns.
Great food, awesome bathroom and a wonderful place for a birthday party.
Truly some of the best food and service in Vancouver although, twice now, I've had a reservation cancelled because they later booked out the space. General response was "sorry, we can't do anything about it other than reschedule you". Didn't exactly make me feel valued. This is a place I used to take our out of town guests but I am now reluctant to do so.
What a wonderful restaurant! Had a wonderful time and the food was excellent. From the service, to presentation and to tastebuds...I recommend the Blue Water Cafe for all enjoy good food.
Best Seafood in Vancouver handsdown!
We love stopping by this place. The sashimi is unbelievably fresh and the service is so great.
Blue Water is my new favorite spot when I am going to treat myself to something higher end. Their food is exceptional, as is their service, and cocktails. Their bathrooms are always clean. The staff professional and efficient. The only thing I'd complain about is having to plan in advance to go since resos are booked because they are so awesome. Can't recommend enough.
Didn't like it. They spat on the food. Pure disgusting
Always a fantastic experience. Great fresh seafood selection and ambience.
I ve been to Blue Water for several times. It had been one of my favorite restaurant in Vancouver. The beef sashimi, seafood tower and sable fish are absolutely amazing. However, the reason why I give 1 star is that last time I went there, after my friend and I paying our bill and ready to leave, we saw at least 2 mice running out from the open kitchen to one of the empty table. We couldn t believe this kind of incident would happen in such famous restaurant. So disappointed. Please keep clean
Quality never disappoints, service pleasant and helpful, flavors great.
I Google take me to the best restaurant in Vancouver. The hospitality is world class the space is impeccable. The culinary experience is memorable.
Great seafood, fresh bread and delicious spread. Smart and neat waiters. Music and atmosphere is very good too.
The shrimp is not very fresh and our pasta was over cooked and stuck together. Caprese was good, scallops good and wine list good.
Top notch. Just perfectly balanced between relaxed and fine dining
Great dinner. Sat at the bar. VERY helpful bartender for someone visiting . Would come back
Had an amazing dinner here. They serve really fresh seafood. The food is pricy but I would say it s worth it!
Good experience. A bit expensive for what it is. Good service
Service was amazing. If you don't know what to order you should get the seafood tower.
Beautiful venue, mouth watering food, flawless service, and good selection of Oyster :-)
This place easily earns its place in my top 5 for Vancouver for sure. The service is always great, food is amazing, they've really nailed it. I recently went for an anniversary and they made an effort to make it special for us, it was cute and considerate. They have great options if you're not too into shellfish This is one of the restaurants I will regularly visit for some great seafood.
Went for a Christmas dinner. Had the seafood tower, tenderloin, and black forest panna cotta. The seafood was fresh, my steak was perfectly seasoned and cooked (and so tender I cut it with a butter knife), and the desert was a very creative interpretation on Black Forest - and not too sweet which suits my palette. Overall, both the food and service were both outstanding as I've come to expect from Blue Water. For the price, I'd say it's one of the best restaurants in Vancouver. Definitely repeating for future special occasions!
