Blue Water Cafe makes the best lobster in Vancouver. You can ask the server to have it poached and cut open for you. You also get free bread with spread and two sweet mini tarts complimentary at the end of your meal.

I suggest to dress smart/casual and bring your date here for a lovely romantic dinner :)

Always a pleasure whether it s regarding the food or the service. The fish has so far never been overcooked. Services ranges from okay to superb. The server from last night named Jennifer (not sure if I got her name right) was the best most cheerful, patient and friendly I ve met in a while. Bluewater has become my go-to fish night out place of choice.

I have fallen in love. I work as a concierge and have always recommended Blue Water Cafe because I have heard great things about it from my colleagues. I finally was treated for a dinner here for my birthday by my partner. I was not disappointed!

I highly recommend the Seafood Sampler for Two (picture attached). It was well valued and each dish was amazingly refreshing. It is well worth its value.

Besides the appie, I ordered the poached lobster and we started with some oysters. We left with our bellies full, which is sometimes a little difficult with fine dining! Thank you for the amazing experience. I'm glad I can put an experience to the name as a concierge.

My wife and I tried this place upon a recommendation. Great location and the service was pretty good.

The highlight for us was the pastry chef. The homemade buns and chocolate cake were very good.

The tsunami sashimi style dish was also quite good.

The dinner, unfortunately, was down hill from there. We shared a Northern Shrimp Cocktail, which was way too full of mayo and really not satisfying at all.

My wife had the scallops for her main. The endives as a side completely over powered the scallops. While the scallops were cooked well, the seasoning was lacking. In short, a very unbalanced dish, the flavours simply didn t match each other.

I had the yellowfin tuna main. I quite enjoyed the bean/vegetable medley, but the tuna was flavourless (although cooked well). After tasting the vegetable/bean medley my wife suggested that would have been a better pairing with the scallops and I agree.

Drinks were ok, we had one miss and one hit.

In short, for the price paid, we won t be in a rush to go back.

It seems more of THE place to go and be seen. If you are a true gourmand, I would suggest just skipping this place.

Disappointed for sure.

The Blue Water Cafe was recommended by our closest friends who had visited Vancouver 2 years earlier. Unfortunately we had chosen to celebrate an important birthday (80th) at another restaurant at the start of our Vancouver visit. Bad Move!!! Our visit on our last night to Blue Water on our last night was a highlight of our trip. Amazing food, Superb service and loads of ambiance. We can't wait to try again on our next visit.

The price is worth the experience, the service is amazing, and the food from the oysters to the fresh halibut and lobster. An amazing mixologist set the mood from the start and we could not have asked for a better experience on our last night in Vancouver. A must visit if you are open minded to amazing food.

Out of all the great sushi and seafood places in Vancouver, Blue Water has to be amongst the top. The ambiance, the spectacular service and some of the best food you can find in the city are all in one place. Sure, the prices are a little higher than what you would expect but you don't come here very often ;)

Whether it be a birthday celebration or a dinner with the girlfriend, Blue Water Cafe has consistently delivered. Their menu features lots of interesting options, from the seafood tower, to the sturgeon and sablefish, it is worth paying for the meal.

Yes, this place is expensive, and yes, it is worth it. The drinks, the food, the service, the atmosphere - all of it outstanding and of an exceptional quality.

I've been here once before many years ago, and my opinion that this place makes the best Manhattan I've ever had hasn't changed. The drink and wine menu is extensive, with plenty of options available for all different tastes and preferences.

As for food, the menu here is divided into a large assortment of largely seafood-based dishes, some beef and chicken-based mains, and their sushi (or "Raw Bar") options.

My girlfriend and I started with their Dungness Crab Roll and their Scallop starter, which was cooked with spinach and panko bread crumbs. The Crab Roll was essentially what most places call a California Roll, just with real crab and wrapped in egg paper. Both starters were delicious - such rich, savoury flavors made a great start to the meal.

For our main, we split the Sable Fish - it was perfectly cooked, served in a delicious, well-seasoned broth with quinoa, bok choi, and a miso glaze. We also ordered an additional roll - their Spicy Tuna - which practically melted in one's mouth; this was probably my favorite roll I ordered. I also decided to try the Dynamite Roll; I wasnt as big a fan of this as the previous two, but I do have to admit the prawn was very tasty. It makes me think that getting the Jumbo Prawns as a starter would have been a good choice.

We ended the meal with the Vanilla Yoghurt Cheesecake. Served with a mango sorbet and a mango/pineapple compote, this dessert was brilliant - I could have easily eaten another on my own, but I held off.

Kudos to our server - he was fantastic. Knowledgeable about the menu and full of helpful suggestions, highly attentive, and notably polite, he really helped make the dining experience all the more enjoyable.

For the starter, three rolls, a main, a desert, and four drinks, after tip, the bill was approximately $235. For such a superb dining experience, I felt it was well worth it.

One of the best dining experiences in Vancouver... from welcome hostess, through the delightful serving from David, the gentle wisdom of the sommelier Adrianne, and the course after course of brilliant food from the skilled kitchen, an evening filled with food, fun and laughter. Had the sablefish, spicy tuna roll, oysters, and pistachio brulee. Sablefish was perfectly cooked and melted like butter. Was a bit on the salty side for me which made it a little hard to enjoy the perfectly cooked fish. Spicy tuna roll was very fresh, though I did wish that it was a little spicy. Oysters were okay. The pistachio brulee was okay as well although the star was the chocolate mousse served with it, it was was absolutely delicious with the fruit coulis. Kind of wish there was a touch more fruit coulis on the plate because it was so delicious and sweet and the tartness cut the creaminess of the dessert just right. The little complimentary petit fours that came with the bill were stale. Overall vibe and service were great.

Last Christmas I was looking for a restaurant in Vancouver that I could purchase a gift card for. My son and his girlfriend are temporarily living in there and I didn t want to send them home with a lot of bulky gifts to take on the plane. I came across an article which said great things about The Blue Water Cafe. So after browsing their website and menu I bought a gift card to be used there. They loved it! So when my mother and I visited mid August we decided that they needed to take us there. The food was fabulous! We each had a nibble off of each other s plates. Everything was flavourful, cooked to perfection and the presentation was perfect. We sat on the patio which has a great atmosphere. It is spacious with tables that are spaced nicely so that you don t feel like you are sitting with the table beside you and you can hear the conversation at your table. Our waitress was Jennifer and let me tell you she is hands down the best waitress I have ever encountered! She was very attentive, knowledgeable about what was on the menu and able to make some great suggestions. Great food and beyond great service made for a great evening! I would highly recommend The Blue Water Cafe!

I waited until the end of my trip to review this restaurant. I wanted to compare it to other restaurants on my visit to Vancouver.

Blue Water Cafe by far was the worst experience.

We were sat a table near the entrance. The restaurant is loud and chaotic. We'd soon learn the chaos extended into the kitchen.

We ordered our meals and I must give props to the waitress for catering to any dietary needs and being very friendly. That's where the good ends.

While the waiteress was very kind, it simply wasn't enough to save this tragic meal. Our entrees would arrive over 1+ hours after being ordered. We didn't order anything complicated. A roll and a pork loin. We were told the reason for the massive delay was because there was a large party that had ordered the tasting menu. I failed to see how that was our problem and why my table of two had to suffer the consequences of that.

The food itself was bland and unispiring. For a place with such great reviews I was surprised. The carpacio was flavorless and the pork loin had an odd, almost spoiled-funky taste to it. I'm thankful I didn't get sick. We ate quickly mostly because we had been starved waiting for our food. Not enjoyable.

The manger scrambled to make things right and it was appreciated. He comp'd our entrees and gave us a parting gift. That's kind but the night had already been ruined.

Was this the best that Vancouver had to offer? Thankfully, we had two other amazing meals. One at Cactus Club Cafe (the one by thethe har with an amazing view) and an equally amazing meal at The Keg in Yaletown. Impeccable service at both compared to the terrible one at Blue Water Cafe. Try those before considering this place.

Last night had a sampler of oysters, thier sable fish which never disappoints, as well as short ribs. In short, soup to nuts, and all great.

Blue Water Cafe was an exceptional experience. You are greeted by a beautiful interior, friendly staff and a swanky vibe. Food was outstanding. I started off with the crab and shrimp dish... beautifully and artfully presented and so many complex flavors that went well together. The sablefish entree was light and delicate in flavor with highlighted the incredible flavor and texture of the fish. Nothing was overly salty. Impeccably crafted cocktail. Whenever I m back in Vancouver, i will return here!!

Consistently excellent food and service, smart wine list highlighting local B.C. wines and surprisingly a gem of a Canadian whiskey. Comparing our experience there from six years ago to this week reflected no decline in any of the factors that make for a standout restaurant.

Fabulous! Our server was very attentive and knowledgeable about all the ingredients in each dish. They are very good at accommodating a gluten-free diet. They put a lot of thought into what they do, and it shows. Food is worth the price. If you have the chance, check this place out.

Blue Water Cafe is one of our favorite restaurants in the world. The seafood is fresh and amazing. The wait staff are extremely knowledgeable and can direct you to items fresh and not listed on the menu. I love our special dinners there and highly recommend making bookings well in advance and do specify the table as in booth versus table and indoors versus out.

To be honest, I'm surprised I have to give a 3. The ambiance and vibe of this restaurant is great. Unfortunately, we were really looking forward to the oysters, sushi and seafood but the dishes were all average, nothing stood out. The oysters were quite small, sushi was standard. Our drinks were good though.
Our waiter was also a little too sarcastic, and slow to move plates from the table. It's not an inexpensive restaurant, so we overall just had higher expectations, and Blue Water didn't meet them.

What a masterpiece!

What a masterpiece!

Arrived there like a tourist, without any reservation, and got a sit on the sushi bar in a minute. Great Customer service!

From the start till the end have had a fantactic service, began with a simple but perfect lemonade juice. Then immediatly followed with the best of the best of this restaurant : the sablefish (you can see on the picture) with its fresh -asian style- vegetables; an absolutly great course. Finished with their homemade -french style- desert, simple but so sweet

This is so far the best restaurant in Vancouver.

I heard about this place via Vancouver Magazine, it was listed as the best seafood restaurant of 2017. Having been there, I could easily see why!

The service was phenomenal. Hands down a treat to be there. Our server was confident and knowledgeable in every dish, was able to suggest amazing dishes, and rattled off the specials with ease and delight.

The food was amazing. Every dish we had (we had quite a few) was spectacular and they were very open to changing sides to suit allergies or pallet.

There was a slight mix up with an item, but it was handled with grace and the chef offered up his apologies and even provided us with a special dish, despite our initial confirmation that we were fine. It was an amazing treat and unexpected.

It is not a cheap location by any means, but if you re looking to celebrate a night with someone, I cannot recommend this place enough!

I'd meant to come here a few trips ago, and finally made it, and was so glad I finally did. My family includes a number of oyster lovers, and the oysters and seafood overall did not disappoint. Even the meat options -- wagyu and beef tenderloin -- were delicious. The server was also wonderful -- responsive and helpful (the greeter/hostess was not at all friendly and was a huge turn off, but the server made up for her). We had a fabulous experience and hope to return during a future vacation.

When I tried to jump in with my daughter, I couldn't make a reservation with my wife and made a reservation the next day on the spot.
Aosa was mixed with the butter that came with the bread and it was delicious.
Two-tiered seafood cold, raw oysters, steamed shrimp, clams, jellyfish with deep taste? Marinated scallops, pickled salmon or salmon, black pepper, sour salmon tartar.
Next, I had a beef Kobe style.
Dessert is chocolate melted warmly from inside the chocolate cake bowl.
The waitress in charge was also very kind and had a good time

A top to bottom amazing experience. Attentive wait staff, great drinks, amazing food! Highlight was the seafood tower, definitely a splurge, but worth it at least once in your lifetime. They were out of dungeness crab, but replaced it with a generous amount of lobster tails in their place at the top of the tower.
