We put down a $5,000 deposit, which was fully refundable if we were not able to close on the purchase of the property, for the cabin to be built on. Unfortunately, the property closing did not happen and when we contacted Blue Ridge Log Cabin for the refund of our deposit, the salesman acknowledged the refund was due, the sales manager acknowledged the refund was due and even the CFO acknowledged the refund was due. They just have not given the refund, they just keep giving lip service and not sending it. The CFO said directly he would get it done, but has not done so and is now difficult to get in touch with, except for leaving a message on his voicemail which he doesn't return. This situation is ongoing and has now been almost 3 months since the refund was due and we finally had to go to our credit card company, who is opening an investigation for a refund. This bad experience has cost Blue Ridge a potential buyer as we will not be using them, if this is how they choose to conduct their business.
I traveled from Nashville, TN to check these gorgeous homes out and was so impressed. Their facility in immaculate and their team is even better. We were given a tour by Mr Tom Roe, he was absolutely fabulous and left me walking away with no additional questions! Very informative man that knows the cabins from the ground up.
I am looking forward to purchasing one of these log home in the near future.
Update: 6 months after we have been in our cabin and we now have 1/4 inch gaps in our floors. Our cabin sat for months without windows and doors. There was water damage and now Gaps in the wood. The disappointment never ends with this company. 5/25/21- The toilet pipes were never glued. We have raw sewage leaking into our ceiling. Also the garbage disposal is leaking. As for the response from the owner below. This was a GC that worked out of the blue ridge office and was the Blue ridge preferred GC. The bank stoped giving the GC money because they stoped doing work but continued to send invoices. After not showing up for 2 months, it was discovered that the work that was done was not completed correctly and no inspections were done. Most of the work needed to be redone.
Also, Beware when you sign any change orders, the terms of the contract are suddenly added that balance is due on delivery . After they receive a full payment, there is no hurry to get your project completed. Most of the positive reviews are fake that are mostly posted by employees. I read all the negative reviews and went with Blue Ridge anyway. Big Mistake. Do NOT give any deposits. Cost are not going to go up like they say. Do NOT sign anything that says balance due on delivery. Truly Not worth the money. Not even close to a 6 month build, it will be more like 12 months. Better off going with a conventional build and not modular. The Blue Ridge contractor(Trademark Homes of Asheville) took up front payments started the project June of 2019 and walked off our project in February of 2020. Blue Ridge was paid in full on delivery and we were left with an unfinished cabin. There will be constant finger pointing with their GC. No accountability, no one will answer the phone after the cabin is delivered. Don D has become a professional liar. We were contracted for a Superior wall foundation with a lifetime warranty. They decided, without any notice to us, to use a different foundation on our cabin.
I have NOT bought a home here. This is just a review for a quick stop to tour the homes and talk with the staff. We got there a bit late but the staff talked with us about pricing, gave us information on their homes, and allowed us to stay a little passed closing time so that we could tour the homes. While I do think that it's very expensive, they are beautiful and the staff seems great from our surface level meet. The homes are stunning and I've uploaded pictures for viewing. These pictures are from 3 of their models.
Update: 4 April, finally constructed. Waiting on GC to paint, turn on electricity to check water/plumbing. Hope the two tone wood in the back gets covered up. (New photo)
Update: the cabin was delivered October 15th last year, still waiting without any specified completion date on March 6th.
The incomplete Cabin was delivered without notice it would be incomplete on 15 October 2020, billed as if it was complete. Still incomplete on 6 Mar 2021. Unpainted and sitting in the rain the whole time. Percolating mold problem due to GC and BRLC failures. I would never do business with them again.
Many 5 star reviews of tours etc. Buying is not positive. Look at all the one star reviews. Just like my experience. Delivered an incomplete cabin without windows, internal doors, cabinets, plumbing, most fixtures. Not as advertised. No plan to address the issues. Their 'recommend bank' paid them in full anyways. Called all involved parties and non will respond with a plan to complete the advertised tasks. It's been over a week for us currently, paying for temporary housing for months now, at great expense and distress to our child. Don (sp) was supposed to call but still has not. Do not do business with this company, appears to be flagrant false advertising in random instances as below reviews also state. GC can't even paint the cabin to stop water damage while we wait!
14 December: Don Dack lied about having our windows and cabinets in. Promised 3-4 weeks. I allowed 5-6 weeks but requested to be notified of any delays, in order to plan where I can live. No contact, no windows, no cabinets, no appliances. Paying a mortgage on an uninhabitable shell with no way to plan a lease appropriately because they lie, and generally refuse to say when or if it will ever be completed. Wretched experience. Paying a full mortgage but no place to live!
6 March. Not complete. No definite time of completion. I've placed a warning on the back of my truck. Many conversations and views. BRLC has created many problems for our family with the exceedingly long completion time and no end date for providing the cabin as it was advertised.
It was the perfect winter vacation with entertainment and shopping everywhere. The cabin we stayed in was big enough for any family. What I like most was there's something for everyone to enjoy.
