Great place with friendly staff and amazing camera gear to peruse

Didn't have what I was looking for but a "must see" for camera lovers.

The level of service provided by Blue Moon is of the highest quality, the communication and politeness is exceptional, the staff are very knowledgable, helpful and friendly! Blue Moon is simply the best camera shop in Portland. Their incredibly friendly staff, very diverse product line (used and new, including some great antiques), and services stand apart from every other store in town.

I ve never had the pleasure of visiting the actual location, but if I ever get the chance I will make sure to wear pants with really deep pockets so I can t reach my wallet.

What I have done is purchased film cameras and film from the online shop. They also did a fantastic repair/cla on a lens for me and it turned out great. From my experience everything about Blue Moon Camera is above and beyond your expectations in the absolute best way.

They have always handled my film well and are very accommodating if there are any problems. Two rolls of my film got stuck together during processing, and they were kind enough to not only save my pictures, but also send me scans free of charge so I could make sure they were all right (they were ). Highly recommended.

Quality local used camera shop with a wide variety of brands. The staff is very helpful and down to earth with their advice. I was traveling and stopped in looking for rare finds, left empty handed but gained valuable knowledge.

This is the best place in Portland to take your film.

While experimenting with 120 film and an old camera I wasn't so sure about, the staff here pulled me aside and gave me tips about what I was doing wrong and how to take better pictures with the camera. I don't think they usually have time for this sort of consultation, but it helped me out a lot.

Their prices are a not exactly thrifty, but I never feel disappointed when I get my film back and see the results. I disagree with reviewers who say they are overpriced, because any lower priced options I have sought out in this city have been disappointing. You pay for what you get, and if you want great prints, go here.

I love Blue Moon! It is the best film camera store in the universe. They always have lots of answers to my many questions and are super helpful diagnosing and fixing camera problems. Whether I need help with my Spotmatic, my Holga, any of my TLRs, my 5x7 or even my plain jane EOS1n, they always know how to solve my problem. Blue Moon has a great selection of all sorts of film, and other gear. And really, where else can I go find a store full of handsome men in ties.

They are extremely helpful. I shoot digital and wanted to try a new lens, they had one used. It has a little fungus on the lens in the description when I emailed them they gave me a full explanation of the lens. It sounded bad but was such a good price I had to go check it out. When I got to see the lens, to my untrained eye it didn't look bad at all. They let me try it on my camera and I saw no ill effects. I will be checking back with them for my next lens.

Lots of used gear and fair prices. Mostly knowledgeable staff.

I bought some rolls of re-rolled 120 film (5 rolls Portra 160, 5 Rolls TMax 100) that was rolled onto 620 film spools suitable for a Kodak Medalist II. The service was excellent, and the results of the film were great. If it wasn't for the little plastic baggies that hold each roll being open giving away the fact that the film had been re-rolled, one could think that Kodak was making 620 again with their modern emulsions. Blue Moon's work is *THAT* good.

I do recommend if you have Blue Moon re-roll your film onto metal spools, to get the spools back when the film is developed. This way you can re-use the spools with subsequent rolls and avoid any "metal spool" fees. When I'm done with my 10 rolls (I have 2 rolls of TMax 100 left), I will be ordering more!

This place is truly top-shelf.

I just got my first camera and accidentally screwed the tripod attachment on WAY too tight. I went here and they not only fixed the issue, but they were so friendly and even gave me a new screw that will prevent the issue from happening again! Excellent customer service! I highly recommend this shop! Thanks for your help!

I live in Colorado but will wait and go out of my way to visit Blue Moon to shop for new glass or drop off film. The staff is extremely knowledgeable. They take the time to help you make a decision that is right for you while educating along the way.

This is a world class vintage camera store. They sell a huge range of used cameras..do black and white film dev and printing. They sell film. The print BnW digital images..anf I believe they do color too.

Not that this place needs any more 5 star reviews, but I couldn't resist. I don't profess to know a ton about photography or cameras, but when I stopped in today to see what could be done about my dysfunctional polaroid one step, one of the staff offered to help me out and took like 10 minutes trying to troubleshoot the cameras problems. Turns out, my camera's probably busted for good, but it would've taken me much longer to figure that out all by myself! Thanks so much y'all.

If you do analog photography in Portland, just skip every other store. So friendly and helpful and just perfect.

The staff really know what they are talking about and are very friendly. Went in hoping to find a super 8 and there wasn't one but they had so many other great and different film cameras but it wasn't a day to break the bank. Got a waterproof disposable camera since we were going to the beach and hadn't seen one of those in forever.

The staff has been super helpful and gotten me everything i need. Every time I've visited the store they always come ask what i need, and help me with the most honest answers. During the stay at home order, i had film developed through them and they communicated really well. I want to thank Tracy for helping me over the phone today!

This is such a cool little shop!! Arthur was so great and patient with all our questions. He was very knowledgeable and friendly! We stopped in here, and coming from Los Angeles I'm not used to feeling like I as a customer mattered. But here it was a different story. I was asked 3 times from 3 different people if I needed some help. I will definitely be returning here if I am ever back in town.

One of a dying breed, they are also the only lab in existence that will develop minox film which was used in spy cameras ala James Bond.

When I visited Portland, it was exciting to see a real brick and Mortar film camera store again.
When I needed to trade some camera for cash, i shipped them all the way across the country (Hartford Connecticut) to consign.
I have some cognitive issues and became confused and offended by something in our contract, and they remained professional and courteous with me. The employee (David) doing the consignment did not lose patience, and gently walked me through the process.
These are hardworking, trustworthy people. I will do business and support them as long as they operate.

Dedicated to film photography. You won't find digital here. Great lab develops color, B&W, and slide in house. Great selection of used gear.

I purchased a 1917 Remington Model 10 Typewriter from them from North Carolina. And, their customer service (with multiple people) at every step of the way was truly fantastic! Since I wasn't local, I had a lot of questions and they happily answered them all and even emailed me pictures of specifics that I had inquired about. Great team of people... and, a really cool machine too!

I visited on a Sunday afternoon and although there were several other customers there, they had plenty of staff available and I was helped quickly. If you needed friendly and knowledgeable people to help you with anything related to film cameras and developing, this is the place you want to be.

I purchased one of their vintage typewriters for my wife. The customer service was top notch. They contacted us to tell us they would be double checking the machine before shipping it to be sure it was fully functioning. It was shipped quickly and packed extremely carefully. The typewriter is clean and working well, and the price was very reasonable. I would definitely buy frome them again.

Super smart staff, always freindly and more then willing to help you find the camera that is really going to work for you. The first camera I bought from them was a 40 minute conversation with them pushing me to the less expensive of the pair I was looking at. I've never had a bad experience here.

Blue Moon cannot be beat for film camera selection or knowledgeable, passionate staff. They are also the only manufacturer of Minox film in America (if not the world). They also have a nice selection of typewriters.

I waited to review Blue Moon until my film was developed and I got scans and my negatives back.
Verdict:
Staff are super helpful and friendly. Everyone is obviously happy to be there, and knowledgeable about film.
As this was my first roll of film in a new to me but very old camera, only half of the roll was actually good, so they only charged me for half a roll. So awesome!
I'll choose blue moon again and again.

Great service and staff, quality used cameras, lenses, tripods, and any other equipment for film photography. They went the extra mile to find what I needed.

I had a camera with sentimental value. two other shops said just toss it and get a new one on ebay. Blue moon understood, gave a great quote and time estimate, and did it for what they said when they said- all during the Covid shutdown. They are aweome and are now the FIRST place I will go!

I was looking for a camera bag. I found one. This store is cool. It is for the photographer that still uses film. They have products to you do your own developing they also do developing in the store. Very busy which is good for them. They carry lenses, cameras the works anything you would want if you use a film camera. I was impressed.

Older Camera need fixing? These guys know all about it and can get you out and taking pictures again in short order. They also have a film development lab in house for your old 35mm canisters lying around. Not the cheapest place out there, but they have reasonable time expectations and a lot of equipment if you're looking to stock up.

Excellent customer service, staff love the profession and always are willing to spend time needed, even when I am there just enjoying the history.....

I love this place! I never write reviews but I just had to for Blue Moon because I'm so happy I went here! I had come in to try and sell my Hasselblad which also needed some work done. I was there for probably an hour, not because they were busy or anything (which they were, because they're awesome) but because I had a great time talking with them about cameras and film. SO NICE. They sold my camera within a few weeks and I just got my check from them and I'm super happy with what I got back. I wasn't expecting much since it wasn't in working condition when I dropped it off, but they fixed it, sold it, and sent me the check! They are super fair on their percentages and I'm just super thrilled with this place. Definitely going back for all my film needs, it's a bit of a drive for me, but I'd rather drive however long to get here than go anywhere else :)

It's probably a good thing I waited so long to visit Blue Moon. There are far too many things for me to spend money on here. They carry Impossible film for your old Polaroid cameras, they carry old Polaroid cameras if you need one to go with your new Impossible film. Basically, if it has to do with film, they probably have it. Knowledgeable, friendly people behind the counter, lots of old cameras and accessories, outstanding film developing and printing. I don't shoot a lot of film, but when I do, I bring it here.
