Blue Moon is my favorite store in Portland. I grew up shooting digital photography until a friend gifted me a 35mm Minolta X70. I went to Blue Moon with all of my initial questions and they were a huge help. Shortly there after, I completely ditched digital photography and stick entirely to film. Ive been a customer for Blue Moon for 3 years and have gone to the store at least once a week. They consistently are super professional and friendly in a genuine manner. Did I mention that they organize a photo show curated entirely of their customers work??? Who else does that?

Everyone s favorite local camera shop. Plenty of throwback gear, if you are working with film you need to be here.

We're lucky to have this place here in Portland. Whether you're a beginner or a professional film shooter, the folks at Blue Moon have your back. The store itself has a magical feel to it when you walk in, or at least it does for me. They have a huge film selection, all sorts of cameras and lenses for sale, and they're experts of film processing/scanning. Couldn't recommend Blue Moon enough.

It was my first time buying a film camera SO I had no prior experience at all with this sort of camera. The people there helped me find one that fit me and I am grateful for that. I would recommend this place to literally everyone because I loved it so much.

Was like going back 30 years ago when you actually had customer service

The staff is knowledgeable. The inventory is reasonable but not overwhelming. It's a bit like time travel. Brings back lots of memories. If you want to return to chemical photography this is clearly one off the places to help you do it. Reminds me of Old Sturbridge Village; it's a working museum. Only have it four stars because they didn't have rentals. But they are working on it.

These wonderful folks helped me digitize prized family movies from the 1940s and make my wife cry and mother in-law cry.

Blue Moon Camera is possibly the best camera shop in existence. Seriously. Really friendly staff and completely dedicated to the art of making images. The focus seems to be on film equipment, which is awesome, but they don't judge. I walked in their once to get a strap for my DSLR and they were just as helpful. Great group of people!

Blue Moon consistently goes above and beyond. Their staff knowledge and customer service are phenomenal! If you're shooting film, you probably already know about this gem. If you're new to the area, be sure to stop in!

Old school camera service and repair and custom photo processing located in downtown St. Johns. You'll also find old school SLRs for sale, pinhole cameras made of wood, photo magazines and more. On Street parking only.

Knowledgable staff but incredibly overpriced. I'll chalk that up to the hipsters coming in and paying that much for vintage cameras, so only one star off. Otherwise they have a good selection and can give good advice and develop film.

We were in Portland for the weekend and falling in love with this place is an understatement. They had cameras that were simply beautiful to look at and film! They also had camera straps, which I needed. Arthur helped us and he was knowledgeable and patient with all of my questions. He let me handle with some cameras and taught me about the way they work. So cool! In all my years of shooting photography, I have never been to a camera store that feels warm and inviting and a staff that is willing to help. Thank you Blue Moon Camera you have my business for life. They sell items online too and do repairs. Looking forward to my next visit online or in person. A Portland gem for sure.

Purchased a Hass here. Naturally I purchased the film and developed the film through Blue Moon. Best decision I've ever made. They make the development process painless and are quite fast to return (Boise ID). Will be supporting this local business with all of my film needs.

Had very old film from my late mother's home. Probably taken in the 60s or 70s maybe 80s. Had archaic development. Very helpful and direct about cost and time. And what they could do. I appreciated it.

Seth, one of their staffers, was very friendly and knowledgeable. He learned our names, asked about what we were shooting, and even gave us a couple of suggestions of where to hit on our trip!

Super friendly service, and it's just a terrific store to browse. The salesman tested the shutter on my camera (no charge) and helped me understand it better. The people in the photo lab seem to enjoy their work because they re always smiling whenever I come in.

They were super helpful and knowledgeable. I stopped in to buy a point and shoot film camera and he brought out 3 options in my price range, explained their features and how to use them, and helped me pick between them. They are currently doing outside service where they bring options out to you, but the quality of service was excellent. I'll definitely come again for any camera needs.

I had terrific customer service today. The sales person spent a lot of time to help me on a really busy shopping day even though I was only looking for only low cost parts. Even better, he was friendly and informative the whole time. What a great shop.

I like the knowledgeable staff and that they specialize in older camera gear and darkroom equipment. The staff isn't pushy either, they really help you answer any questions you have about the products.

Me and the girlfriend popped in to the shop after enjoying some brunch across the street at Johns. The salesman was super knowledgeable, approachable, and not pushy in the least. We ended up buying a canon film camera that you can use all of your lenses for your digital camera with. Very cool. I bought a coffee mug. Check it out

I haven't been in yet but I spoke on the phone with Jim about getting my film developed and scanned. What a nice guy! Great service, explained how they process photos and my options for reviewing my film. Plus he had a genuine interest in the photography group I started, which you don't find just anywhere.
I can't wait to go in and meet them and get my film processed, 5 stars!

Eclectic camera shop with extremely knowledgeable and friendly staff. It has everything from hobbyist to pro. If you want to get into film photography, this is THE must stop shop in Portland.

Best Camera (film) Store I've Ever Visited!

I've been taking photos for 8 years now and visited a lot of camera stores in my time. Especially since I use to live in another state. I can say with the upmost confidence that THIS camera store has been the best. First off, and in my opinion, most importantly the staff treats all skill levels of photographers with the same respect. This is a huge problem I've encountered in many camera stores. Even with some years under my belt as a photographer, I've found that the staff at camera stores to be very condescending and you feel patronized for asking any questions. The main point of going into a physical store location is to ask questions. "what film would you suggest?" "____ keeps happening, can you help me?" etc. etc. When you come into Blue moon the staff are always happy to share ideas and experiences. It feels more like you're talking to a friend. I feel like it's well known and agreed upon that photographers can be the snobbyiest people ever, especially when speaking to new photographers and can "scare off" those who are new to it. You will not find that attitude here.
