Nice hotel! Great continental breakfast and service!
Nice hotel! Great continental breakfast and service!
We dined here, pricey, some portions were smaller than others, slow service dispite only 3 tables dinning
Beautiful boutique hotel! Friendly staff and the design provides a coastal unique feel for the guests.
Our visit here was quite nice. ..complimentary breakfast was awesome...no smoking was NOT awesome but they sent up champagne and strawberries for my birthday so. ...what a surprise and a treat. ..pleasantly surprised
Beautiful hotel, excellent service, right on the beach. My "pamper me" place
Superb location and excellent restaurant! Right on the beach with plenty to do and great for Families, too. All you need is here for a relaxing beach get-away that is 2 hours from the triangle.
The food was amazing! Located to the right of the bridge. Great service.
Great location! You have the river/channel behind you and the ocean on the other side. Staff is all very friendly and helpful. Our room was nicely decorated and had a great view of the river. Not far from Wilmington if you want to explore the city. There is a nice bike path system that you can ride from Wrightsville Beach to Wilmington.
Great place to stay, just wish the breakfast was free like it was last year......
We just spent the weekend . Staff was very nice and the hotel very beautiful. Our room however had sand in the bed the first night, we did not get any fresh towels and sand still in the bed 2nd night. We went on sunset Cruise and we're not overly impressed sat in plastic chairs not bolted down, and tour guide unsure of her island facts. Went to the breakfast buffet food was ok some overcooked and some cold. Regular lunch and dinner way over priced.
Don't waste your time and money, the photographer that took their pictures is REALLY REALLY good! The lobby is dark and drab. The pool area and outside bar looks NOTHING like advertised. Nothing like you would think. It is Marina front on the back side with a parking lot and busy road between you and the hotel. Outdated rooms. Glasses and ice bucket dirty in room. Painted over rot in the bathroom with no fan. Water on the outside did not work so we went to the pool to get the sand off our feet the security guard comes for us. It was so embarrassing. Restaurant overpriced. You can stay at the Hilton for less and be more impressed!!!
The facilities are a little dated from the outside, but completely make up for it on the inside and the friendliness of the staff. This is an all inclusive resort in the middle of Wrightsville Beach.
Under going remodeling while there. Nice pool/ Cabana area. Direct access to the beach. Seemed clean and modern. The pool was packed and people were generally having a good time. There are also ecotours but it didn't seem very popular compared to the beach. The ocean view is great
Very clean. Helpful staff. Excellent breakfast. I wish the beds were a little more comfortable. Otherwise it has always been excellent.
Friends on the beach nice as hell would. Not stay any where else right on beach great staff love them
We took the boat ride to Masonboro and it was lovely. Awesome staff, super clean boat and drop off/pick up on time. We'll be back for the boat ride!! Lj & T
Very nice older hotel that has been updated well. We had a conference here for 2 days which included lunch. Normally the food is very good here but this year it was not. Sandwiches and wraps both days were wet and soggy.
From the outside it doesn't look like much but seeing a few valet workers running around sets the tone for what you're about to walk into. When I first entered I was surprised with how nice and up to date the interior was with the outside looking like it's been the same since the 80's. Each floor is designed differently and I recommend hitting every stop on the elevator(especially with strangers in there with you) so you can get a quick glance. The outdoor area it's spacious and set up for event hosting. Easy access to the beach and a huge grass field gives a different environment to the beach vibe. They were supposed to do smores at 6:30 and we were looking forward to it but stuck around until 7 and lost interest. My wife and I didn't stay at the hotel. We just wondered into the hotel lobby acting like we belonged. Full access to everything.
Overall I give it 4 stars for the curb appeal, lack of timely smores and lack of security.
We chose one of the staterooms based on the description. Our most desired feature was the fireplace on the balcony. But it was very disappointing. We couldn't determine how to turn it on. When we inquired we found that you have to request someone to come and put gel in it. So we asked for that. Someone came and added gel; the fire burned for 3 minutes and went out. We called again. More gel this time, burned 15 minutes. The flames reached a height of 2 inches. The fireplace is tiny and so high on the wall that you can't see the flames when you sit down. Heat output is practically zero. Never bothered with it for the rest of our stay. I would call this deceptive advertising.
We really enjoyed our few days here. Will be back for sure. The facilities are a bit out dated, but they are working to improve. What makes up for it is the staff, they really go above and beyond to help out or get you what you need.
The professionalism of the staff if coupled with an updated hotel wod get an immediate 5 star from me.
This was the first time I ever visited the Blockade Runner, and I was impressed. The food was very good at the restaraunt and the beach access was convenient! The hotel even put on some fun activities such as a watermelon eating contest... I loved the trip and will try to go again!
Amazing views! Rooms were tile with no rugs not the best beds either and service was almost non existent and it's expensive but the views and walking distance to the beach are unbeatable!
Beautiful hotel undergoing some Renovations after the destruction of hurricane Florence. The entire property is still in excellent condition with wonderful beachfront property.
Very beautiful place but there bed are not the best they make alot of noise everytime you move even a little bit but other then that I love this place
Great location! An easy beach stay with kids. It is definitely worth it to pay for the umbrella and chairs. They supply the towels and beach toys. They also have a great breakfast buffet.
The staff was phenomenal! Everyone was so very kind. The property is wonderful, too - relaxing and classy casual.
The resort is beautiful and the view of the ocean is fantastic. A couple problems we had were that all of the wall outlets were controlled by a single switch, which led to some confusion when my phone hadn't charged all day, and the WiFi didn't work properly at all.
Rooms with one of the best Beach facing views and very very close to the actual beach! Lots of fun-filled activities and great staff. Will come again!
Great place to stay beach was not crowded. Pcean was warm and great to swim in. The rooms were fantastic fabulous view from 4th floor balcony. Shower was like a rain shower. The pool was superb. Staff friendly
Awful. We paid for ocean front. Here is a view. Yes, that is a building. Management was of no help.
Location. Is good. Rooms are ok. Worst part when they say 4pm is check in, they do mean 4pm. We had kids waiting for 3 hours in the lobby. Everyone who came in had to wait. If check out is 11am, then how long does it take to clean rooms???
Great food but rather slow service. It's also a little pricey
As someone who relies heavily on reviews for anything I plan, I feel obligated to write an honest review of our stay.
When we checked in, Nicole (I think) was bubbly and helpful. The young men in the parking lot were friendly as well.
After checking in, we went to the pool. There were plenty of chairs, despite it being later in the day, so we were pleased. My husband and I wanted drinks so he went to the bar and they wouldn't serve him because they were doing a "shift change". I don't really understand this, but we waited until we heard the blender going again and he headed back to the bar. He didn't return for at least 20+ minutes and when he did, my daquiri looked like Kool-Aid. There wasn't one bit of slush or ice inside it. I took it back to the bar, waited another 20 minutes and finally became annoyed enough to call out to the bartender (4 times before she actually acknowledged me) and ask if she could help me or if I needed to go to the other side because they continually served people from the table side that came LONG after me on the poolside. She happily remade my drink, which would have been great if she hadn't tried to save the old one that I had already drank from by adding ice to it in the blender that doesn't get washed between drinks. She realized it was too bad off and started from scratch, but now everyone who ordered a subpar $17 (overpriced) frozen beverage has my germs in their drinks. Cheers!
The housekeeping staff hasn't replaced the coffee and sugar, when I've clearly been using it and we've had to go out for coffee each subsequent day, despite the fact that we purchased creamer for the room to avoid that. Luckily, the staff in the restaurant hooked us up. I also wish there was an ice machine we had access to, rather than having to go fetch it from the restaurant. Although, while waiting for my ice I was asked by 4-5 friendly faces in the restaurant if I was being helped. They were eagar to assist me, had I needed something.
My husband was disappointed there is no place to smoke his cigars, as we were told the entire resort is non-smoking. There are plenty of lovely places for a smoke, that would not be a nuisance to others.
Worst of all is the noise. It's impossible to sleep with the AC unit blasting full steam for 5 minutes, shutting off for 5 minutes, rinse and repeat ALL NIGHT LONG. Another guest told me she had the same issue and we tried to use the fan instead, as she suggested, and it did not work. It sounds like a jet engine when it's on and then it abruptly stops (and starts again) keeping us up all night. Additionally, the shower makes a loud screetching noise when turned on, very relaxing. There is also construction next door (not that the BR can help that) but it's important to note they begin working at 7am. This is extremely frustrating when the AC unit and other disrespectful guests keep you up all night long. We called the front desk because all 3 nights we've been here there have been kids horsing around and running down the hallways while yelling and slamming doors, a baby/toddler SCREAMING (not crying, a blood curdling scream) all hours of the night next door, and adults screaming and slamming furniture above us, and nothing has been done about it.
We leave tomorrow and honestly, I can't imagine we'll be back. We enjoyed the beach but that has nothing to do with the BR Beach Resort. I now need a vacation from getting zero sleep on my vacation.
Amazing view of the beach and amazing service. Room numbers ending in odd numbers get ocean view and even numbers get Inter-coastal Waterway. Amazing hotel. Don't want to check out.
Great stay. Beachfront patio rooms with comfy bed, great views, serious cocktails and food (That Blue Crab Sandwich is in my dreams), and easy walk to other bars/restaurants.
every thing was great but they charge 30 for a beach chair that is soooo bad how come they dont charge for a pool chair
Kinda of a dump, waited 30minutes for someone to take our drink order, I get island time but that s not like the other hotels on the beach.
Beautiful property on Wrightsville Beach with both ocean and sound views.
Old rooms run down. No where to put your furniture or hang towels. Super loud A/C Don't book here. Price doesn't match the room. Nice staff and grounds.
I absolutely recommend this resort!! The day after our wedding we were set to leave for Europe for our honeymoon only to find out that my passport didn t have the necessary validity to get to our layover destination. After 8 hours of online research, I found Wrightsville beach and this resort. With not much time to really plan, we rented a car and drove from NY to NC. We checked in Monday night and were immediately satisfied with the experience. Our room was spacious, clean, beachy, and oceanfront with great air conditioning, a fridge, coffee, and a Keurig. We spent Tuesday at the beach. Ryan at the beach set us up with chairs and an umbrella - cost $30 but is reserved for you to come and go until 7pm! They make it spacious for you to feel completely in your own world. We ate lunch at the hotel restaurant where our waitress gifted us brownie, ice cream and fruit to celebrate our honeymoon. We walked across to the resort docks to smoke cigars. Captain Cameron came over and we thought he was going to tell us to leave but instead said our home is your home. Any thought of Europe left us completely. This was our honeymoon we were meant to have. We did a kayak tour with Kristen and she was the best. We saw dolphins and rainbow clouds! She was so friendly and knowledgeable. Everyone here gave us great recommendations. Historic downtown Wilmington was an amazing day trip! Southern hospitality is strong here. One of the shop owners gave us a magnet we went to buy for free! The love, abundance, and hospitality we have felt this week has truly filled our hearts with forever memories. We decided we will be coming here once a year. The resort is still being renovated from hurricane Florence but it didn t effect the grounds from being breathtaking. There are fancier looking resorts in the area but none have the waterfront activities and amenities that this place does. The smell of the pool, the sound of the ocean, the sunsets from the sound docks, the tropical music, the pristine gardens with rabbits constantly hopping around, the birds, pelicans, fish, yoga, hammocks, and the 24-7 staff working with smiles and friendliness makes this the perfect summer getaway. It s great for families during the weekend but the earlier part of the week was perfect for a quiet romantic time. This felt like home and we can t wait to finish our trip sailing the sound tonight and with a sunrise on the beach tomorrow morning. The local town has amazing coffee breakfast and surf shops too. Thank you blockade runner for showing us our island honeymoon doesn t need to go international. See you next year!
Needs more personal service ,need to be more helpful..
Our family spent a fun night at Wrightsville Beach at the Blockade Runner. There were three generations of our family gathered and we all thought it was wonderful. We loved the rooms, the staff, the beach, the swimming pool and the gardens. Thank you.
We LOVE this place; be it summer, winter, spring or fall.
Just spent 2 nights here for the first time and we loved it! The staff were very professional and friendly. We had room massages which were Fab. The pool area was great and the access to the beach was the best. The buffet breakfast was great and the food and drinks by the pool was the best(get the crab cake burger ). Finally our room was updated, spacious and clean with a Great View. I'm already planning to head back before the summer is over. I've looked at reviews for other resorts in the area and I don't want to take a chance.
Stay Here, you won't regret it.
The Blockade Runner has amazing staff, very personable and attentive. The place is gorgeous. The bar is nice and the rooms are nice. A nice benefit is there is a pokestop out front, a rather incredible stop. There's almost always a lure dropped on the stop, and really cool pokemon often frequent the spot.
Horrible experience!! Worst 3 days I've ever had at the beach. Worse customer service I've ever had especially the management.
Love this place. Some of the most beautiful landscaping on WB!!
Nice place with good view. Bathroom a little cramped.
We had an amazing stay here Aug 27, through Sept 1 2017 . Staff was very friendly, loved the breakfast, very nice room, and love the Harbor view. We will definitely coming back next year! Only knock would be your guys wifi.
Great overall service and location. Pool was alittle crowded. Drinks and food were alittle bland but overall great stay!
We really enjoyed our stay! The room was newly renovated, comfortable and exceptionally clean. One of the highlights of our stay was the Sunset Harbor cruise! It was a perfect night and Captain Jay and Taylor made it even more enjoyable with their fun and informative banter!! Thank you for making our stay so memorable!
I love this resort. Like others have said vending and ice machines would be nice to have. There's 3 bunnies that occupy the lawn. The breakfast is great.
Accommodations are nice, but a bit pricey. Fantastic breakfast.
Rooms are immaculate with gorgeous view of ocean. Staff is very friendly and professional
I recently stayed at the Blockade Runner for a wedding. While the facility is older and I can look past that, there were several things that the Blockade Runner could have controlled. The wait staff in the pool/lounge area was extremely friendly, but extremely slow because they were understaffed. The price of drinks was also on the high side. One of the towels in our room was completely frayed on one side from top to bottom. A towel in that condition at my house is a dog towel. On the bright side, the complimentary breakfast was very good. For the price we were charged, I definitely expected more and would not stay there again.
very nice staff and beautiful beaches. the rooms are clean and pretty. the photo is of the beach just outside of the hotel
Very nice, I enjoyed my stay. The views were fantastic. My coffee cup was nasty dirty though.
We've been coming to the BR for 6 years as a celebration for our wedding anniversary & family vacation! Each year the BR gets better! Excellent staff such as Brady, Alisha, Shaun, Curtis, Cameron, & Josh. This year was no exception. We experienced our first sailing trip. Small, local feel with warm staff. Hotel has delicious food and is within walking distance to downtown Wrightsville! Handicapped friendly! BR staff goes above and beyond. Highly recommend! We will be back!
Very disappointed. Been going there for years as a walk in guest to enjoy brunch and dinner but today we were ignored for 30 minutes, bullied by a waitress and then mistreated by the manager whos only concern was if my kids were in the pool (which they weren t) I suggest they realize that hospitality begins with good communication and that when you have a restaurant clients will walk in to use your restaurant. Such a bad experience
My family has been staying at the blockade Runner for two decades. I must say it has only improved with time. The outdoor pool area is amazing, the new restaurant bar are perfect and well worth the trip alone. Thank you for such a crown jewel at Wrightsville Beach!
Awesome place. Good breakfast. Great lunch. Great dinner. The staff is the best. The rooms are great. But my favorite was the butterflies and garden. Sure the absolutely free Wifi could be better but get off your phones and do something!!
Attended an absolutely gorgeous wedding here. The event staff were incredibly kind and helpful and seemed to do an excellent job. The food was delicious and the well presented. The grounds were well-maintained. Parking was a complicated situation, but is at a premium at the beach.
Clean and good service. Great views. Rooms are a bit dated and expensive breakfast.
Overpriced for worn down shag rugs. Great ocean view. Poor cocktail menu.
I've stayed at the Blockade Runner many times over the past 10 years or so and it is still my favorite hotel. I would prefer to give 4.5 stars instead of 5 because there were some issues with the room and I've had those same issues on previous stays. But the response from the staff was immediate with a more than satisfactory resolution. The beds are very comfortable - a little bit firm which is my preference. Great views whether ocean or harbor view. I love their food and the grounds but it is the staff that I find exceptional.
Loved this place. Awesome location, wonderful staff. Huge sliding glass patio doors facing the beach. New big screen TV. Classy decorations in room and lobby. Went during Christmas, so it was cool and raining, and the place was almost empty, but quiet. Free shuttle to local restaurants. Good parking. Bring extra water because the tap water is salty. The hotel will provide some bottled water. 30 minutes to downtown Wilmington with its restraunts, shops, and the battleship North Carolina.
Had a very nice lunch on the outdoor patio. Beautiful views, excellent service. Would love to stay here during the Annual Chistmas Flotilla.
What a wonderful experience! Beautiful views and ambiance. Friendly, accommodating, and pleasant staff. Patrick took care of everything we could have thought to request. He really made us feel welcome and comfortable. Such a professional. Will be back again!!
