As an ex-employee I can say with complete honesty that this is the best company I've ever worked for. The staff are all wonderful personalities who I can still call friends. The atmosphere feels like home, and I miss the delicious food everyday. Their craft beer selection is unbeatable. The owners are also some of the most upstanding guys I know. If I could give this place 100 stars, I would! We heart BJ's for life.

We came to Harrisonburg for vacation. I look up restaurants before every trip and this was one I picked out because they have wagyu beef. I loved the atmosphere because it truly looks like a locals place. They have country music on which I love. The place has lots of character. The parking is a bit of an issue since the Shack is downtown and on the corner. There is a parking lot that is not too far from it but you will have to walk down a hill and the parking may be full if you go at a popular time. There are other places to park you just may have to walk a little ways.

Great service. Water was refilled quickly.

We ordered a box of applewood bacon. It was like 5 bucks. The bacon had good smoke to it but it was a little too fatty to me and it was not HOT.

I ordered the sliders and you could mix and match any two sliders or do two of the same. They came with fries. I got the Greg Brady topped with homemade mac and cheese, American cheddar and bbq chips and a modified Mike Teevee topped with applewood bacon and American cheddar with no bbq sauce nor onions. Fries were just ok. They were not crispy and just basic shoestring fries.

My date ordered the wings with buffalo sauce. The meat was tender / fall off the bone and a little crispy on the outside just how he likes it. The buffalo sauce was rich and buttery. The sauce had good heat but not too strong. A solid 8.7 out of 10.

I ordered two donuts to try out for dessert. The psycho girl scout was topped with peanut butter, chocolate chips, and marshmallow. It is more of a solid donut with no hole. After my first bite I was like this is the perfect name because this is crazy tasty but so worth it everything just went together perfectly!!!! I loved it all. I would go back to this place just to eat this donut. The other donut I ordered was the muddy pig. It had nutella and bacon crumbles. It was yummy and I love nutella and bacon but no whether need as good as the psycho donut. Both donuts were crispy in all the right places.

We didn't order any alcohol but they have a big selection of beers cocktails, etc. They also have a late night menu from 11:30pm of until they close.

We would go back but I would make sure I mention I want my sliders medium. He did not ask me how I wanted them cooked but I think I should if I go back so I get something that is a bit more what I like. I would probably try out something else as well. I would get the psycho girl scout donut again and my date would definitely order the wings again. Plus, the service was great so that is hard to find now a days.

One of the best spots in Harrisonburg. Cool atmosphere, interesting menu, and tasty food. Got hooked when I went in for brunch, but keep going back for their wide variety of awesome dishes. Sticky nuggs, redneck nachos, ten napkin burger to name a few. Good prices, good food, good atmosphere. What's not to love?

Get the sticky nugs.. just do it. Great place with nice rotating beer selections on tap, an oyster bar and really good sticky nugs. There are several other locations now in Richmond and others. Definitely give this joint a try. It's a staple of downtown Harrisonburg Virginia and within a quick walk from the JMU campus.

It was ok, Decent service and food! A bit loud and probably a hot with the younger generation!

I gave three stars because this hip little burger joint met my expectation. 4 exceeds and 5 is mind=blown. I hardly ever give 5.
I had the "10 napkin burger" which is a build your own burger. It gets a little expensive but I added bacon bbq and mushroom to my burger. It came out quick and tasted delicious though I only needed 3 napkins limited seating so I sat at the bar and the bartender was nice and efficient. Good vibe, good food, decent prices... I would visit again

WORST SERVICE IN MY LIFE.
My waitress's name was Ally, she deserves to be fired!!
I waited 55 minutes for a salad and 2 sliders. The sliders came out first but after another 5 minutes sill no salad so i asked if she could check on the salad in the kitchen. She immediately interrupted me and told me i can have my check if i was in a rush and the attitude she said it with was apaling. When i asked to see a manager she says " youre looking at her" . I then asked another bartender to see the manager and he said none were working that night.
Its understandable that the kitchen was backed up but i have never been more disrespected in a restaurant.
Ally, the bartender, needs to be fired. The food was pretty good but i can not return after that.

The sweet tea was horrible, service was ok and the food was mediocre.

Great place to grab a beer and food with friends. They have a great brunch. Gets very packed for brunch because it's such a small place. Friendly staff.

Ryan was my server here the other night and he was AMAZING! He made me feel so at home and I will definitely be coming back just to have Ryan as a server! He was so attentive and knew exactly what I wanted before I even asked!

GREAT ATMOSPHERE, HOST, FOOD AND DRINKS!!! OH & THE PEANUTBUTTER DONUT WITH MARSHMALLOWS ON TOP WAS EVERYTHING!!!

Don't go here unless you want your ID taken away so they can destroy it, call it a fake, verbally assault you, refuse to give it back so you can leave the restaurant, then make sure you know they are refusing to serve you. My friend and I supplied 2 forms of ID, and the waitress proceeded to pick them apart and bend them nearly snapping them in half. When we asked why she was bending it all she said was "this is fake" and ran off with it. We followed her where we watched her and 2 of her managers pick and peel them apart as we are asking them to please return them so we can leave or call a police officer so they can verify our identity. I am 25, and my friend is 28. I understand we are in a college town and you have to check and double check, but that was completely out of hand. More questions should have been asked prior to destroying our identification. One manager even said they have a black light to check suspicious IDs just for this purpose. We were offered $20 to replace ONE ID and they still refused service and refused to call the police. I am beyond disappointed.

My favorite place when I'm in the area!!! The Nuggs and donuts are amazing!

Service was extremely slow (if everywhere else at the time didn't have lines going out the door, we would've gone somewhere else). They took an hour and a half to serve two burgers, which were still not quite to order, and not very good or warm, either. I have cooked more satisfying burgers throwing pre-made frozen patties on a Foreman. Their doughnuts, which conceptually should be very good, were underbaked and underwhelming in terms of both size and flavor. The server was nice, but avoidant when I needed to ask anything and didn't do a very good job of at least keeping her customers hydrated during the prolonged wait.

Beer is to high for a college town trying to be a big10 school plus the people working can be rude and watch what you pay for and get back....kids are allowed to be up and around the bar side...in this state

Dive bar atmosphere with good food, rotating taps, and an excellent brunch menu. The mimosas are tasty and the perfect cure for your weekend hangover.

I have twins that go to JMU and this is out favorite spot to eat when I visit. It has a fun atmosphere and the food is fresh & tastes great too. The VALUE is AMAZING. Table of 6 was under 80.00 and that included 2 cocktails and 2 appetizers! The server was crazy good. She was memorizing our order and she got it all correct! The service was outstanding!

My son wanted to take me for a late lunch. Even though I really don't like burgers I ordered a couple of their sliders anyway. OMG they were the BEST! From what I've heard they get packed easily so I would suggest going before 3 PM.

Redneck nachos are a must, tater tots were so good and we visited on a Tuesday when the sliders were on special so we were able to sample a couple of different kinds and they were all delicious!

1st time in Harrisonburg. We were a group of 6 and they were accommodating. The staff wore masks. The inside tables were socially distanced. They also had outdoor space in a parking lot if you wanted to be outside. The food was great. The onion rings and chicken wings were good. The staff has friendly and provided great customer service. When I'm back in the area, I will definitely go back for a meal.

My wife and I stopped by for a real simple bite between downtown brewery visits. A shared salad and shared fish and chips. Delicious food. Great service from Jevona! Definitely worth the stop.

Favorite restaurant in Harrisonburg. Their sticky nugz are out of this world. The decorations are unique and comforting. The burgers are also some of the best in harrisonburg along with an incredible craft beer menu. Love it!

Great bar food and snacks as well as a variety of beer selections, Billy Jack's is a cornerstone of downtown Harrisonburg. As a JMU alum, I love that this place hasn't changed much besides some new faces but the same charm.

This place is so good! Everyone in our party of 6 loved their meals. Unique style and presentation. The donuts were also very good(but tiny)- the girlscout and the red headed step child were amazing!! Everything is reasonably priced. Waitress was great.
