Lydia

I am not a person that writes a lot on social media, but I feel an urge to share at this moment.

Twelve years ago I went through a very difficult life changing period, a painful divorce and a lot of insecurities concerning myself and my future.

I already went to a yoga class once a week but felt it was not enough. One of my fellow yogis
told me about a yoga school in The Hague, a hot yoga school; and that I should try it.
I thought why not, nothing to lose, only to gain. The first lesson I fell in love with this kind of yoga,
only to fall out of it when my body started aching and protesting, even migraine came back after so many years without it.. When I asked the owner of the studio, Lydia Wright about this, she said Hella ask me again in 10 years !I did not have to, I know the answer now.

This Yoga healed me inside out, whenever I felt bad, in whatever way ;it picked me up and made me feel stronger and more dedicated to go through life in a lighter way; because it is there to lift me up. It was and is my Life-stream!

I feel grateful for de dedicated way Lydia has run the yoga studio even though it must have been hard for her sometimes, being an alien in our Dutch way of doing things ;she adopted gracefully!
I cannot mention her without also mentioning her dedicated teachers, all with their different characters and thus their different way of teaching, it makes going there very attractive.

Although I am in good shape, I do have some physical problems; I have a new hip but something went wrong and I have to be operated again to fix it. While on the waiting list I went to yoga and physiotherapy. Happy and full of confidence everything would be alright in the end I went about my usual life.

Who could have predicted what happened next!? Nothing in life can be taken for granted that s sure! Coved-19 No yoga no physiotherapy! So what to do now? On top of everything I had a bike accident, a skater ran into me and I fell. I suppose it could have been a lot worse but still it left me to deal with a lot of pain.

Now on top of all the previous benefits ,Oh did I forget to mention the wonderful retreats?
In these crazy times we are living in, Lydia picks up her teaching through Zoom Life-stream! And yes,I can log in and start healing myself again. And it is working!

I can only invite everybody to join her lessons and give yourselves the benefit of self-healing through this wonderful yoga.

For me it works and enables me to do my job, supporting people.

Lydia,I want to thank you for being there and share your energy with us for many more years to come!!

Namaste!

Hella

What a great yoga school this is! Unfortunately only visited 3 times in real life because I do not live in the Netherlands, but fortunately now online classes are also offered. And I like it so much that I no longer go to the bikram yoga school in my city. The online classes were born out of necessity, but ideal for me. Apart from the fact that Lydia teaches wonderfully and I have learned a lot from her, even though I have been doing Bikram yoga for almost a year, I find it ideal that I can do lessons whenever I want. I have a very irregular schedule and cannot always participate in the live online lessons. That is why I use the recorded lessons a lot. During the live online lessons, everyone is carefully looked at and you receive corrections if necessary. I think this is the best bikram yoga school I have attended so far and I very much hope that the online classes will continue (though I heard today that is the case, yeah!).

I did a Bikram yoga subscription last month and didn't finish it. One person thinks Bikram is great and for another it is nothing. I belong to the last category. I find it difficult to sit still for 10 minutes in a sauna, but 1.5 hours in the heat is definitely not my thing. Every lesson is exactly the same: you start with a breathing exercise, the first half standing poses, the other half of the lesson you do sitting and lying poses and you end with another breathing exercise. I noticed that the lessons were crowded. The teachers give their lessons in English, sometimes also in Dutch. The teachers only give verbal instructions, but do not present the poses. As a result, you see that everyone does the pose in their own way. I thought it was boring to do the same thing every lesson and then also in series of two. For me, yoga is about strengthening the body, but also about awareness. And I missed the latter here in the lessons. For me it felt more like gym yoga where you burn a lot of calories in a lesson, but real yoga goes a lot deeper than Bikram yoga.

This amazing yoga school changed my life. I started doing yoga because I felt stiff, but it brought me so much more - better health, more focus and concentration, more flexibility and most importantly: a happier life. The teachers are great, the venue is beautiful and the yoga is taught with rigour and a lot of attention for details.

In these complicates corona times we take online classes. I miss the heat, OK, but bu using our cameras the teaching, the corrections you get and the sense of community are the same. The classes are such a life saver, sitting at home. And you can take these classes from anywhere in the world.

I have been regularly in the Bikram Yoga classes of this great studio for over 10 years. It is a pleasant Yoga studio led by dedicated and professional yoga teachers. Every lesson is and remains a great challenge for body and mind, with a satisfied feeling as a result. I am (power and yin) yoga teacher and physiotherapist and I am still impressed by the (therapeutic) effect on the whole picture: in terms of physical increase in fitness, strength, flexibility and awareness of my own body. Regarding the mental aspect, the fixed order of the postures ensures that you can concentrate optimally on the posture and stay in the moment. Chapeau for the teachers that they stimulate you each lesson with personal instructions and that they give extra depth for inspiration with certain attitudes. I remain a fan of this form of yoga and hope to be able to practice it for a long time in this beautiful studio!

I'm super happy to have re-joined this school after almost 10 years.

The teachers are very warm and positive, they motivate me each time I'm in class. I recently started, and already find myself already 3 to 4 times per week in the school!

It's good to know the school is very open about the Bikram Choudhury documentary; the owner invites the yogi's after class when they have questions for her. Luckily the school is not a franchise and no payments are made to him.

Now that I work from home in these weird times, I find that I have a strong need to ground and come to myself. The online classes are the solution for me to find peace in my head and body ... I can concentrate better and sleep well in the evening.

The threshold is much lower to take a class, a threshold that is not really necessary because the atmosphere at Bikram Yoga The Hague is super relaxed.

I set up my laptop, put down my mat, light some incense, enjoy the moment and let Lydia or Kelley's voice guide me. If you want to try bikram yoga this is the ideal time to start (again)!

For 14 years I have been going to this yoga school on average 4 times a week. I like the fact that the postures are the same every time and that all have the purpose of making the most important part of my body, my spine, strong. Bikram yoga makes me feel strong, powerful and fit. In addition, it teaches me to be kind and patient to my body and mind. The active meditation you do in class has taught me a lot and gives me relaxation every time. Every time I work on my balance, balance and perseverance. The atmosphere in the school is relaxed, friendly, warm and all teachers are very helpful. I hope that this school will remain in the Zeeheldenkwartier in The Hague for a long time to come, I would like to follow my lessons there until a very old age and stay as fit as possible (physically and mentally).

I like the 26 postures, taught with clear and thorough instructions by Lydia and her teachers. I have been practicing for 10 years already and I still learn new things. This yoga helps me to respect my body. Each class my mind chooses what instructions to listen to, my body may or may not follow. And what joy when it did.
