The staff were so attentive and friendly
Made our kids feel welcome. There was a 10 week old calf grazing outside the property which made it extra fun for the kids. Amazing rooms!

Greeted by warm and friendly staff. The atmosphere is outstanding and complimented by the beautiful scenery of the river off the deck. Dinner was amazing. Loved the king sized bed and the scrambled eggs, mushrooms and bacon for breakfast. Perfect weekend escape when you want to unwind.

We stayed two nights and loved it. The room was large, clean and well appointed and so was the bathroom.
It was quiet and warm and had a nice view overlooking hills.
The guest house is set in beautifully manicured gardens with the Yarra river as one of its boundaries.
Apparently its been operating as a hotel since the 1920s but the building dates back to its farmhouse origins in the 1870s.
You can feel this sense of history and place when you step into the building. It's charming and has oodles of character.
The staff make this a great place to stay. They're friendly and welcoming.
Breakfast is simple but good quality and dinner was great.
We'll definitely visit again.

Wonderful family owned inn! We visited from the US in May, just as it was starting to get chilly and we were welcomed with warm and cozy fires in the 2 lounges, a lovely glass of wine from the bar, and a chat with the owner's father. The rooms were charming and all overlooked the surrounding mountains and river in the back. Breakfast was included in the morning; everything was cooked fresh with the added bonus of watching scores of parrots, cockatoos, and kookaburras flitting around just outside the windows. Although the inn does have a restaurant, there is a downtown area a short drive away with other cute dinner and morning coffee options. This place was such a hidden gem! We were so happy we stayed here!

Where do I even begin. We can't fault this place at all, all our guests thoroughly enjoyed their stays, we've all since discussed how great the service was and how lovely the place is.

My new husband and I recently got married in Warburton. Oscars on the Yarra was our hotel to get ready and stay, as well as a lot of our guests.

I had dealt with Robyn from start to finish.
All of my questions were warmly answered.

Preparing for departure, my giant dress and I had sat at the front reception, I was hot and flustered with a few of the staff there, we all had a little chat and everyone was so lovely! Everyone cared for me in this moment, to make sure I was comfortable. This is the kind of service they didn't have to deliver, but they did anyway. You can tell, everyone is so warm and welcoming. We came back to the hotel after the wedding with all our on-site guests.

Oscars had left their lounge room open with the pool table. Some groups weren't ready for bed and really enjoyed that.

The next morning, we had breakfast, I met more staff and they were also just as warm and welcoming.

Despite the amazing service, we had a wonderful stay. The river is obviously beautiful. We used the large open grass areas for some photos. The rooms were efficient, had anything we needed. And breakfast was fresh and delicious!

I never write reviews, however the service at Oscar s on the Yarra was just impeccable so I felt compelled to. We stayed here over the past weekend for a friend s wedding & were travelling for the 1st time with our 3 month old baby. Everything was easy & nothing too hard for the incredible staff, even down to recommending and helping to organise a fantastic & experienced sitter for the evening of the wedding. We felt so comfortable and had an amazing time - it was also a beautiful location. Very highly recommend!

Great place just before Warburton to stay with the property and building backing onto the Yarra river. Little balconies off each room give you the feeling of more space and the beds are very comfy!! The owners are lovely to chat to. The only thing I could think of improving on would be the breakfast room, it doesn t have much atmosphere and the cooked breakfast could of been a little better. On a whole it s very good

I've just returned from a lunchtime function at Oscars and I have to say the food was excellent!
Staff are really friendly and the accommodation is really comfortable and cosy.
Great view of the river and surrounding hills. Looking forward to my return visit!

Wasn't interested in the Restaurant and accommodation there, so can not comment.

But enjoyed the coffee at the back of the building on the deck overlooking a rather serene scenery with mature Gumtrees and very well maintained undulating grassy slope leading into the Yarra.

I had the kangaroo which was cooked to perfection and very tasty with the sweet potato, beetroot and feta. Couldn't finish it all, there was a lot of meat...consider skipping the starter ;)
The Halloumi starter is also quite large. Even sharing it there was some going back to the kitchen.
Very nice meal and very filling.

Beautiful little hotel up in the yarra valley. Rooms are nice but really the views is what you re there for. Staff there are extremely friendly, and the breakfast is good too. Great for a weekend gateway or a place to stay overnight if you re up here to attend a wedding or something nearby.

On rhe posirive side the owners and staff are lovely as is the setting alongside the Yarra River. Unfortunately, although the rooms are ok the walls are extremely thin and you can hear everything going on in adjoining rooms. The lack of a bar fridge is a major problem and the hallway light which was very bright stayed on all night keeping the room too light for sleep. We also had a rather average experience in the on-site restaurant, ordering steak which was so inedible we sent it back and went elsewhere. I'm not sure if the cook was just having a really bad night but for $32 I expected a reasonable cut of meat, not stewing steak... Overall I was pretty disappointed.

What a beautiful place Oscar's is. We celebrated Valentine's Day here with dinner and accommodation - The hosts were lovely - dinner super scrumptious and our rooms, just right - we will be back again to walk though their beautiful property as rain didn't permit this time - Highly recommend and thank you for making our stay ever so delightful Stephen and Debbie

We were driving past while looking for a place to grab a bite to eat. Noticed the sign and simply desided to give it a go. One of the best places we visit out of the blue. Great atmosphere, incredible food and really friendly service. We will be back.

Of 8 restaurants I called re Mother's Day lunch bookings, Oscar's was the only establishment who returned my call. Peaceful location on the Yarra River at Warburton. Filling 3 course lunch: Prawn noodle salad, Mediterranean linguini and New York baked Cheesecake with passionfruit & Gin glaze and cream. All catering for my low FODMAP requirements.

This place deserve a review. Every single dish was delicious and the Nutella lava cake was the best dessert I had in Australia in a long time. I suggest to add some cocktail to the drink list, that would absolutely make the place a gem in the Yarra.

I also loved the deco and the staff was very friendly and polite.

Thank you

This place is so beautiful. Build in 1900s, 24 rooms, beautifully placed on the back of the Yarra River, beautiful restaurant, wonderful staff and really nice atmosphere. They are very accommodating. Must come for weekend stays more often.

We were here for mothers day and drove over an hour from Melbourne. Nothing was bad just not what was expected for the price we paid. 2 of the prawn entrees had no sauce and the desert was not as described. Once finished we were going to enjoy a couple of coffees but after 25 min none were offered. For the price the fact you travel over an hour to get there I think you can do better in closer to Melbourne

The welcoming staff and atmosphere give this place a warm homely feel. Our host actually encouraged us to visit the yarra just metres away in the back before it got dark. In terms of food, our large group ordered just about every item off the mains menu and were not disappointed.

Considering we turned up unannounced at 4pm on a very busy Mother s Day for the restaurant they made us feel so welcome. The staff found the time to give us a quick tour and had us drinks in hand on the deck overlooking the river. We stayed for dinner and the food was faultless, 3 courses with the staff knowledgeable on matching their wine list with meals. What a great experience, would recommend highly.

Oscar's is an absolutely stunning location in a pristine environment. A very warm welcome awaits from friendly, obliging staff and attentive owner / operators. The rooms are on the small side, but are very clean and comfortable. Once checked in, a stroll around the grounds is a must! The relaxing sounds of the Yarra river and abundant bird life are truly amazing and something to behold. The views are nothing short of sensational. The buffet breakfast is a magnificent start to the day. My wife and I spent our 5th wedding anniversary here and shortly after checking in we decided that rather than find another place to go for a picnic we simply walked down to the rivers edge, laid out our blanket and enjoyed a couple of hours relaxing beneath the towering trees listening to the water, the breeze and the birds through the trees. Best anniversary yet thanks to Oscar's!

It's good, it could be amazing, but it's good enough. If you are staying in the area it's the best place to stay. I spend a weekend here and it was enjoyable. Our room was pretty tight but it had a personal balcony that two people could sit out and watch nature comfortably. It had a great view from our balcony. The food was hit and miss, but the breakfast with the poached eggs I thought was pretty good. A very warm welcome and nice owners, we had nice chats. It has an entertainment room which will suit families with a TV and a pool table. In general it's quite good, if they wanted to add some extra flair to some touches in the room it would be good. They made some mistakes with a large dinner we had where portion sizes were out of control, some quite small, and others which were so large they'd be a double serve under normal circumstances. I would recommend it, it's a nice place with some wonderful countryside.

Absolutely sensational food! The Scotch Fillet was the best I have had in a long time, the Jus was incredible. The Ragout was full of flavour and so fresh. The Slow Braised Lamb just melted in your mouth. Very reasonably priced for the exceptional quality of the food. Table service was very polite and attentive. If you're in the area give Oscar's a try.

The good: Beautiful environment, friendly staff, affordable rates and local kookaburras dropping in for a feed.
The bad: small rooms with very hard bed, food overpriced and underwhelming. Tasteless Gnocchi and burnt scrambled eggs and soggy bacon for breakfast. Had to find a positive with the food. I can't understand the glowing food reviews at all. Then the paper thin walls made for a terrible nights sleep. We could hear the conversions from next door (they weren't that loud). Then at 3am, drunken guests from the in-house birthday function started knocking on doors and laughing hysterically.
Sleep deprived I was glad to hastily leave the next day. However, I was called a couple of days later advising that Id left behind a few makeup brushes. The only option was to return them cod @$16 postage. This was a greater cost than the brushes. The caller offered to return via normal mail. I thanked her. Later that day another woman called me saying that Id have to pay the $16 cod to have them returned! Seriously? After eating lunch and dinner in their restaurant i didn't even warrant a few dollars postage. Very poor customer service. I've reduced my rating accordingly!

Lovely location, tucked down by the Yarra River. The veranda offers an outdoor eating option that is sheltered by huge oak trees....stunning! The food we had was absolutely delicious. I had "fish of the day" which was tuna and it was cooked perfectly. My son had the Carbonara which he said was the best he had ever had. The wait staff were excellent, knew exactly when to offer bottles of wine, desserts etc. Highly recommended.

Nothing short of outstanding. Went there for a small business meeting, stayed overnight and had dinner. Not only were the staff amazingly helpful, the food was great and the scenery spectacular. Rooms are smaller, but we spent little time in there (and most of that time my eyes were closed!) will definitely revisit.

Dinner on the deck at Oscars ticks all of the boxes for us. Outstanding food and down to earth service, along with a casual and idyllic setting looking across a green lawn to the Yarra River and white gums. Oscars is something very special. It is calming. We have had the fortune to sample many starred and hatted restaurants across the world and our experience at Oscars was second to none. Highly recommended. Greg

We were seated on the back veranda overlooking the Yarra River, complete with the sound affects and a lovely big oak tree. Food was delicious and the service excellent. My daughter was pleased with the vegetarian options and the salmon cooked to perfection. We turned up after a bike ride, still in our gear, conscious of our appearance and apologetic. They were very gracious, making us feel welcome. Thank you.
The decor inside is beautiful, with an intimate feel. (And just in case I have infered this, not full of bike riders. )

I stayed a night whilst riding the Lilydale to Warburton rail trail. This is a great place, the staff are very welcoming and friendly. My room was a single room with a big ensuite, very clean and tastefully furnished, and with a verandah and a nice garden outlook. Superb well maintained grounds and right on the river. Warburton township is just down the road (about 1km). I can really recommend Oscars and a big thank you to the very down to earth staff.
