My friends and I loved this hotel - it was such a comfortable stay. Breakfast was fantastic, and the pool area is clean, beautiful, and a wonderful place to relax. Beds were comfy and the bathroom was modern and clean. Staff was incredibly nice.

This place is a solid, great value hotel. Beds are comfortable with plenty of fluffy pillows, and the room and bathroom were very clean. Great service at check-in, free parking, and free breakfast in the lobby. Ten to fifteen minute drive to Kings Beach, five minute (if that) drive to central Truckee, which has a lot of cute shops, boutiques, museums, restaurants, bars.

Extra bonus star: they allow dogs, only an additional $20 fee (which is beyond reasonable for the area). Booked this same day, and got a great deal. Will definitely return when in the area.

While things are starting to open back up, I had to come out here for work. My client booked me a room here for the the night. This week Gov Newson made a state wide order that all people and businesses in California need to have masks on inside. Outside if a 6 feet distance is not doable. As a business owner myself I am appalled they are not following health and safety guidelines. The male receptionist and what looked like the manager were both not wearing masks at the front. Half of the janitors I pass also not wearing masks. Guests are not being told to have masks in the lobby either. I understand that they may have few cases here. But as they are seeing people like me who are coming for work from areas with many cases are here around them and their other guests. Thankfully I m smart enough to bring masks and wear it. Really disappointed in the lack of professionalism in that area. I gave three stars because the room itself was fine when we walked in. During the night it was quiet. There were pink stains on the inside of the comforter. In the morning there was no hot water for a shower either. If you need to stay at a hotel and have concerns about quality of health and safety during the Covid pandemic, as well as management following those rules, this might not be the place for you.

This motel is extremely over priced at $334 per night on a non holiday weekend it was not worth even half of that.
1. We waited in line at front desk for 20 mins whole one overwhelmed desk agent tried to check everyone in
2. The beds were so uncomfortable we barely slept and we had a big race the next day!
3. The motel is old and musty and dark in the corridors, the layout is confusing and the ice machines were nit clearly marked
4. It was under staffed and ill equipped to handle a large number of guests all at once
I wouldnt recommend you ever waste your hard earned money here.
Bright note the breakfast was better and more plentiful than expected. Also a large hot tub

A great value for a stay in Truckee. Not downtown, but not far away either...the excellent Truckee bike trail system literally is right out the front door. Great pool and hot tub area and an exceptionally nice breakfast experience with attentive staff.

Traveling as a disabled person is always a challenge and rarely fun. Even if the bathroom is user friendly, the rest of the room is probably not. The current style is to have very tall beds. An average height woman of 5 5 may have a lot of trouble getting onto the bed and her feet dangle high above the floor. Then the rolling chairs that are often the only other seating in the room may be downright scary. I flipped one once and my husband, who is not disabled, nearly flipped one this week. The positioning of the center post can vary greatly from chair to chair. I got lucky this time by finding a creative thinker as a manager in the Best Western Plus in Truckee, CA. Ben and his staff went out of their way to tweak the room for me and, thus, provided true hospitality.

By far, one of the nicest BW's I've ever stayed at. Only downside (and kind of a huge one) our room smelled like cigarette smoke. Other then that, this is a great hotel, and I would stay there again. They had the best breakfast of all the BW's I've stayed at, as well.

My stay at Truckee Best Western comes with a pleasant review. The breakfast offered a wider range of healthy choices and the staff always willing to help. The hotel is within walking distance to Thai, Sushi and a Brewery (for lunch or dinner)!

The only annoyance I had while visiting best Western would be the unexpected fire alarm test which abruptly woke me but was told quickly that it was a test. Staff was great, breakfast was awesome, wifi was bearable.

This would be a 5 star if their webpage didn't misrepresent nightly pricing. We were on a 10 day road trip and were ready for a stop. We looked up BW, our 1st go to, and saw this was offered at $101 a nite and pet friendly..we called to check availability and said we would like to book the room...we were told room is 175 a nite + $30 pet fee + taxes. They did come down to $150 +$30+taxes, final total $204...ouch...I showed them a screen shot of their price, but it did not matter...too late and too tired to search for another place.

Though we didn't stay overnight at this hotel, after being stranded and unprepared in a winter storm, the staff of this hotel was more than happy to direct us to a nearby gas station to buy chains to continue our trip down the Sierra Nevadas.

Great location, nice rooms with good amenities. However they didn't vacuum the room very well, there was lots of dog kibble throughout. Breakfast is great. Overall a little more expensive than what it was worth with the added pet fee.

Nice staff. The front desk clerk even grabbed something from my car so didn't have to take the banies out in the rain! Good location. Even let us stop by and change the afternoon after we checked out. The breakfast was decent. The rooms were clean.

________UPDATE______

________UPDATE______
I've stayed here two more times since my initial review. Both times the beds were dirty with hair and stains on the sheets. The first time I let it slide because I just figured it was a one off thing. Then I had another stay here 2 weeks later. Again, there was hair in the bed and shower, and stains on the sheets. This time I complained to the front desk who was helpful. They offered to switch rooms, so we did. Before moving all of our stuff to the new room, I checked the bed, hair again. Same situation in the 3rd room. Anyway, long story short, the maids here don't seem to clean up well, ESPECIALLY for how expensive the place is. I probably won't be staying here anymore.

________Original 4 Star Review___________

I stayed here for 2 nights and it's a nice hotel. I had a basic king size bed room and was happy with the size of the room. There's a large HDTV which is nice. The bed is comfortable and everything seemed clean. There's a large hot tub which is nice if you like your personal space. The pool is heated too so you can go in it even on a cold winter night.

The only complaint is that it's a bit of a noisy hotel. Not noisy in the sense that people are partying, but you easily hear people just outside your room even if they're just walking. Also, the heater is LOUD!! All in all, it's a nice hotel but can be expensive on weekends. I wouldn't pay the weekend price myself.

This is our go-to place on our annual trip to Truckee. Great condition of rooms and beautiful fire pits for sitting and relaxing at during the cool evenings. We definitely recommend this location!

Clean and quiet.
Maybe it's the pandemic that has worn the place down, but this should not be advertised as a Best Western Plus.

Good Value in Truckee! Driveway was cleared of snow frequently and parking lot was convenient to access doors, unlike the competitor down the street. Breakfast was what could be expected for free. Easy to book online or via phone at the last minute. Easily changed my exit date without any cancellation fee. The "reading nook" was really loud with a family playing some kind of board game so I could not read there while the attendants were cleaning the room. It would be nice to post some kind of sign that requests guests to refrain from boisterous activity as there are other rooms in the dining room (after breakfast service) that could be utilized for small noisy groups to mingle.

The rooms themselves are nice although the windows are old. But heck, you got heat/cold included all you want. There was a smoke smell in the air the entire time we were there. We came there to escape the smoke from the fires around Sacramento. The breakfast was mediocre at best. Omelettes were cold, bread selection is boring....it's your typical 2 star breakfast menu. Even Denny's is better. Location wise it was ok. It's on a busy street but not bad. It has a nice rustic atmosphere but the trash overflowed in the bins. Also, the front desk could have been better staffed. I had to wait for someone to show up and then it took over 10 minutes to check in. It's too long IMO.

So I'd give this joint about a 3.5 if I could.

Great hotel in superb location at truckee. Only glitches = air-con noisy and either too cold or turned off. No onsite bar or restaurant but 2 good restaurants nearby (both slightly expensive). Onsite pool and gym very good. Near to freeway.

Clean rooms, good location that's quiet but a short drive to downtown. Nice breakfast and accessible to many of the ski resorts. Pool and hot tub were clean and well kept. Friendly and helpful staff. Perfect for Tesla owners because there are Superchargers next to the hotel.
