Amazing food! Calypso magic is wonderful. Love the steel drum!

Fun place to eat on the water. Live entertainment is great! Has a great history since Matlacha had been around since the 1920s. My husband loves the burgers and the beers. I love the scenery of looking out over the water. People park their boats and come to eat, too.

Clam chowder was delicious the baked beans for delicious most the rest of the food was very good onion rings leave something to be desired. The steel drum guy is awesome.

Burgers are great. Fish not so much services pushy and rushed...maybe my expectations were too high.

Fun place right on the water. The fish tacos with mango salsa were amazing.

Called to ask if there was call ahead seating and told not it's first come first served (which is fine), but when I asked how busy it was, Christina said "Welllll, it is season sooo...". Really... It's season in Florida? I'm well aware it's season, a simple XX minute wait would have done just fine, not a snide response to a simple answer. I'm sure you guys do just fine, I suppose you don't need my $.

3/19/2016~~We were in Venice for the weekend and went back to Matlacha again on Saturday. Be careful with parking! There is very limited parking for Bert's. If you park on the street be sure not to block parking or walkways for the residents. Ate here around 2pm. Seated and it took awhile for waitress to come over. Ordered a vodka tonic and hubby got a draft beer. The vodka tonice was good and only $2.75, small. I got the fish and chips $9.99 and hubby got the grilled grouper sandwich at market price for 12.99. That did not include a side which was 1.99 more. Kinda shocked at that cause fries aren't that expensive. The 'chips' were homemade potato chips which were just okay but the fish was really good. Hubby loved the grouper! Then ordered key lime pie, $6, and was a very large piece for key lime pie. (usually they are small) It was tart and tasty. There was live music...reggae which was cool...loved it. (just one person) The 4 stars is for the cost of the xtra side which isn't a big deal...they were good/hot but nothing special. Enjoy!! :)

Best meal on the island. Award winning key lime pie. Wait staff very friendly. Highly recommend.

Great waterside place with a view. Beers cold waitress are hot lol.

We had good seafood dishes here. Islandy atmosphere and the waiter was friendly. Reasonably priced for the area.

Visiting from Ohio, staff was great, burger was really good n the entertainment was good.

Very disappointing ..... Food not so good, and very very SLOW service! We sat on the deck, got our first drink and then had to wait more than 30 min to order something to eat!!!! Home made chips were cold and not so tasty ..... 2 stars for the nice view from the deck!

Blackened Grouper finger basket and fish dip appetizer are to die for!! Cute place right on the water with fantastic views. Will definitely be back!

The music was amazing. There's nothing like sitting outside, watching the water and listening to amazing live music. The shrimp tacos were really good too.

Small menu but perfectly cooked food and friendly staff. Also can sit outside right on the water!

A great dive bar. Food was solid and service was excellent. We had a large party of 15. They handled is well with food coming out hot and fresh.

Grumpy the Steel Drum player...this man should move on...or learn how to deal with the public....

It is a very typical bar in the area. If you want to see locals having fun listening to music, drinking beer and eating typical meals, this is the place. Simple but very crowded

Our favorite "go-to" when we can't decide. The service has ALWAYS been spot-on. There's a STRONG "local" feel here. But, we've felt welcomed since our first visit. Probably the best fried oysters & conch fritters I've ever had. Now, we can't stay away from the Triple Tail catch of the day.

Bert's in its latest reincarnation is a on the water, watering hole with some decent seafood... live music often and a local hangout..

Great food and service everytime! Marja took great care of us today! Easy boat docking but since it is popular (especially in season) you may have to wait a bit (or just anchor and swim... haha).

Great food but I had the shrimp taco and it had a lot of lettuce and only 2 pieces of shrimp and there was a table with shade and out of the waitresses said that people were sitting there and then 5 seconds later they leave and new people sit down and we had to sit in Sun. Overall it was good food came fast and amazing service totally would go again. THE END

Nice view, food is always good. They were very accommodating during the take out only phase restaurants were dealing with. We were appreciative of their friendliness and service!

Old Florida restaurant at its finest. I love the atmosphere the south Florida style and colors. service was great. Waterfront area is pretty. A classic Florida establishment.

Portions seemed a little smaller than the last time we visited but the service was good, food came out hot and correct, and the views on the dock are wonderful. Menu had decent variety and prices are fair considering the location.

Service was decent. They don't offer any beer specials, like buckets with 5 beers for a few bucks off... Which is weird to me for a bar, they do have pitchers but their tap selection isn't the best. They don't have shredded cheese either which I found odd since I like cheese on my tacos, they have salads too so you'd think it'd be an option. Chicken tenders were good and so were the tacos. Prices were reasonable. I feel like when I made a visit during season the prices were much higher, but I'm not complaining. Really liked the band that was playing the night we went, which is actually the only reason we went. They do pick very good bands for their live music, worth the visit just for that.

Rustic and fun bar and grill on the water. Cross the bridge to Matlacha, a small funky, artsy, old style Florida town. Spend the afternoon strolling and exploring the boutiques and shops.

Make sure to get the calamari or gulf shrimp as both are excellent. The best local bar with live steel drum music and all you can eat fish frys regularly! A true gem in Cape Coral.

First time there and found the place a little to uncomfortable during greeting, the live music and the server were both a plus. Food average for the price.

Plan to go when Jim Morris is playing and you'll be sure to have a great time! The food is really good -- especially the grouper! The one negative is that parking is difficult at best.

Bert's bar is always a place I have to stop when I'm in the area...

Bert's is a local favorite...dive bar..on beautiful water .. excellent evening jazz/blues..good kitchen..even has fried Smelt...a favorite since childhood....TONS of character!

Whenever we have visitors at the house in Matlacha, Micelli's and Bert's were have to visit places. Putting up with watery drinks and ok food at Bert's was expected. After the treatment our party received today will be our last visit.
We docked our boat at Bert's for lunch. Got there about 11 and no other boats were there, so figured we would check out a few shops right around Bert's and then eat lunch. A fellow ran us down out front and asked us if that was our boat, we said it was and we were going to Fishware place and then to eat. Fellow was a real smart*$$ and told us we couldn't leave boat there. We told them that was fine since they own the dock. We left and went to Micelli's down the canal. They seemed happy to see us and even let us leave the boat docked there while we walked to a tackle shop next door. Excellent food and service too. Guess Bert's wont have to put up with us or anyone we can tell about our experience anymore.

Visited with friends for Wed All you can eat fish, advertised in Cape CORAL news paper. Told that special is now only on Friday, still listed on menu. All 6 in our party had the all you can eat shrimp, good, but we all were expecting the fish. A little disappointed.

Great place for a tasty and affordable meal and drinks. Had some great shrimp and friendly service!

Shrimp didn't seem fresh, ordered cold it half was, I think they had to defrost it. Beer was good but not impressed!

Real old fashioned Florida waterfront dive bar. Beer & wine only. Decent seafood. Almost constant live entertainment.

Food is awesome and especially the location on the water in Matlacha,love the mood! Prices are very reasonable ,mostley seafood,stays busy,Sunday the food service was a little slow but the wait staff does the best they can do.

Stopped in for the first time Saturday at lunch. Service was slow and not very good. Food was not good and not worth the price. There will not be a second visit.

The chowder is one of the best I have ever had! Service was great, ambience, music, steel band player amazing. Great place.
