Went to the bar for after dinner drinks and desserts. The ice cream and cookies were delicious but the drinks were amazing. The Bartender created some of the best drinks we have ever had! We will go back anytime we are in town.
It has the potential to be great, but we experienced a couple of fundamental service failures (with lack of adequate recovery) that kept it from realizing that potential.
UPDATE: When we checked out, it turned out to the front office manager who knew about some of our issues. He apologized and took our (substantial) breakfast charges off our bill as a goodwill gesture. I also filled out an online survey after our stay about some problems we had in Lucia, the on-site restaurant. I got a quick, personal reply from the restaurant manager who apologized profusely, admitted they fell short, and committed to improving in the areas I had pointed out.
I don't write many reviews. I was very disappointed with our stay. We stayed in May 2018. Our room was dark and very dusty. I called ahead to make sure room service checked our room prior to check-in. When we asked to switch rooms, front desk told us they could not help. Of the wonderful hotels in the area, we chose to stay here due reviews. I would recommenced staying elsewhere. The rates do not match the service and room quality.
Wonderful spa day with great people. Michelle was awesome, I was so relaxed I think I started snoring....twice. the pool afterwards was amazing.
Easily the best lunch in Carmel Valley. Crowd was mostly tennis/golf/croquet set. Cali-French in intent, the "kids side vegetables" featured charred broccolini, yellow and purple cauliflower, and flash grilled long beans, all devoured by children without complaint. And OMG the pizza! Notable wine list, good mix of Old- and New- world. I'd eat here daily, if I could.
Excellent Father's Day dinner. Our waitress was wonderful, patient, and helpful. The North Star cocktail was fabulous, as were the veal cheek confit, the corn/crab soup, and especially the red abalone. Nice space and ambience.

Great hotel with beautiful grounds and amenities. The rooms are spacious with fireplaces. The tuna tartar from the in-room dining menu was incredible!
I have visited Bernadus a couple of times and every time my experience was great. We found out this hidden gem when searched for a wedding venue. Even though we didn't end up having out wedding here, we came back several times for the food in Lucia (Which was great! The service was excellent too) and we made a stay just before the sip. It's a lovely, beautiful and quiet place to escape from the daily hassle. Staff are really friendly. Would definitely come back.
Gorgeous lodge - ask for a map of the property and explore - the rose garden and organic veggie gardens are my favorites - so many cool plants like the lavender basil which actually smells like both lavender and basil. Infinity pool the cottages are super cute with fireplaces and patios

Beautiful dining space. The proportions were a bit small but taste and presentation were phenomenal. Parmesan pound cake with olive oil ice cream was delicious and unique.
Super relaxing get away at this nice Carmel Valley hotel and spa. Arrived mid day on Sat and were greeted with a nice chill Sauvignon Blanc.
Room was not ready but we sat outside on the patio listening to some live music. It was a little hot to play bocce or putt golf but after the wine decided to borrow their Mercedes AMG Coupe for a spin through the valley. Fun ride!
Rooms are huge and have super comfy beds. Big jacuzzi style bathtubs and patios with chairs. Nespresso coffee makers and a mini fridge with complimentary wine and beer.
Was going to go to the pool by the screaming kids were a turn off. Chilled on the deck instead until dinner time.
Next morning enjoyed the adult only hot tub. We were the only ones there for hours. So nice and relaxing!
They have a small gym and tennis courts but not enough time to enjoy it all.
Definitely worth a night or two for a relaxing get away!
One of the overall best hotels in the country. Not cheap, but you will not be disappointed.

Great hotel. The rooms are luxurious, and come with free wine and snacks. Get a room on the croquet lawn if you can! Also take advantage of the hotel's complimentary Mercedes Benz program - we checked out a Mercedes SL550 convertible and drove into Carmel for breakfast. Carmel Valley is the perfect getaway from the Bay Area - whether you're into wine tasting, hiking, or just relaxing at the resort, it has everything for a great weekend!
Believe the hype. This place has it all, service is impeccable as well. Played some tennis, lawn sports, and checked out the adults only infinity jacuzzi, which we had to ourselves. Room was great, nice tub and shower, bedding was super.

Gorgeous property tucked away by the mountains. Service was excellent and the common areas are meticulously maintained. The rose garden area is awesome and the main green area for bocce and etc. is very cute and fun. Pricey but looks totally worth it :)
A haven of luxury and tranquility hidden away in the Carmel Valley.
If you want to be close to Monterey and the peninsula, this isn't for you as it's about 25mins away by car.
But this is a tiny price to pay as Bernardus's good points are plenty and totally worth the stay.
The gorgeous rooms with their own fireplace, the private terrace, the huge and super comfy bed, the amazing bathroom with rainfall shower, the fridge full of free drinks...I could go on!
Service is amazing and nothing is to much.
They have a lovely spa, heated outdoor pool and hot tub (one for adults only), and lastly a personal fave (and for any car nut) a small fleet of Mercedes cars.
These can be taken out for 4 hours absolutely FREE! Day 1, we took out an SL63 AMG - which is an absolute beast - days 2 and 3 we used a GL550
(Also have an E coupe and S class)
Just stay here and you will not regret it. Very much hope we can return again one day...
Stopped in for a coffee and to check out the place. It is really a lovely spot and would love to stay here one day. They were really welcoming and we had a great latte on the patio in the sun.

Kinda expensive, which was expected. But some of the menu items were ridiculous, like the $8 biscuit , with no possibility of getting a side biscuit instead of toast.

Fantastic resort. Location is gorgeous and service is impeccable. Food was a bit disappointing, as I had ordered a burger medium and it arrived VERY rare. Sent it back and it came back quite well done (temperature, not a compliment). Ate it anyway. Was hungry.
Beautiful location. Everyone on the staff was very friendly, accommodating, and attentive. Great atmosphere. Spa was top notch, calming, deep tissue massage was top notch, great snacks.

It's like the lodge but with an out in the country soon. The rooms are larger.
Best in Carmel valley. Lucia and Chef Cal always has the greatest dishes.. we eat here at least 3 to 4 times a year. Pre christmas/graduation, thanksgiving and fathers day in 2018.

This may have been one of the nicest resorts I have ever stayed at. We chose to get the spa room which has a private terrace with a hot tub outside. Spending the nights out there with a glass of wine and an intimate private soak was wonderful. The property was stunning, extremely well kept and relaxing. The service from every angle was perfect, they catered to every one of our needs. We will definitely be back on our next trip to Carmel

I got sick there with a headache, but there was no complimentary painkillers there. Which i thought was strange for such a high end establishment. Aside from that almost everything was perfect.
