Best Camera Store in NY/NJ area. Wonderful people you can trust!

I have had dealings with Tom, Bob, and Harold at Bergen County Camera. Talk about the friendliest, personable, helpful people. I felt like I got a 1-on-1 consulting/mentoring session when I was purchasing my camera. They helped me make the best equipment choices for ME. Even since my purchase, they happily take my calls with any questions that I may have. Bergen County Camera truly goes above and beyond. I would recommend this camera store above all the rest in a heart beat.

I had an absolutely unacceptable experience at Bergen County Camera. To the point where I feel it necessary to post my experience and, hopefully, convince people not to use this store s services.
About a week ago I stopped into the store to get information on buying a camera. It must have been a Thursday night since that is the only evening they stay open. I pass by the store on my commute home from work so it is convenient for me to stop in on the way home but not at other times. The sales person I spoke with seemed knowledgeable and helpful. I wasn t ready to make the purchase that night but expected as I came to a decision on what model I wanted I would be back.
This past Friday I had pretty much made up my mind as was ready to make a purchase. I drove to the store after I got out of work and arrived around 5:45 5:50. The store was still open. The same salesman came over to help me and after a few minutes of final comparisons I was ready to buy a camera. Literally. I was pulling out my wallet to hand him my credit card. But the clock had struck 6 PM and they WOULD NOT sell me the camera. The salesman told me he had an appointment after work he couldn t miss so he had to leave. OK. There are other people here. Can someone else write up the sale? The answer was a definitive NO . At that point the lights started turning off around me and I was told to come back tomorrow. But coming back the next day wasn t convenient or possible for me. I left somewhat disgruntled and vowed to go by the same camera at a store closer to where I live.
However there was another really important point the people at Bergen Camera failed to let me know. And I only found out the following Sunday (I don t live in Bergen County so stores near me are open on Sundays) when I went to purchase the camera elsewhere. There was a special from the manufacturer that expired on Saturday. So I could no longer get the camera at the price I was quoted with the additional accessories it was to include. If that had informed me of this I might have gone out of my way to come back on Saturday. Or gone elsewhere. And I had told them I couldn t come back until their next late evening the following Thursday. Not only did they refuse to take the 10 15 minutes I t would have taken to sell me the camera but they all didn t give highly pertinent information about the need to make the purchase within 24 hours or lose the sale price.
I will NEVER step foot inside Bergen County Camera again. I ve never heard of a store that wouldn t complete a sale for a customer that was already in the building prior to closing. And I will tell anyone who asks about my lousy experience there and advise against going to their store.

We went about 2 weeks ago looking at bridge cameras. Paul was very helpful and pointed out a camera that would suit our needs as we are going on vacation in a couple of months and wanted a more advanced camera than a 'point and shoot' or using our phones. He placed us on the list for the camera that we wanted and within a few days the camera arrived, and the next weekend we went to pick it up.

When we arrived, he gave us a crash course in SD cards, and the camera's abilities from top to bottom. You don't get that sort of service at the big box stores. If you are looking for a camera, whether it's point and shoot, SLR, or bridge, I would suggest that you avoid Best Buy, Target, Walmart, etc, and go to Bergen County Camera, it is worth it.

Owners and staff are extremely knowledgeable and interested in providing you with not only gear but the knowledge to use the gear properly.

Service, service, service is what you will get at Bergen County Camera. No question goes unanswered since their competent staff has been there what seems to be forever. Honest answers, complete information and never pressuring (what a relief), their staff can fix most problems on the spot, or if you are in a real bind can answer your questions on the phone.

Abby is wonderful with her photoshop talents which we all need when we have important events.

Great staff. Today I attended the Saturday Beach Photography Focus session, Paul, John and the others did an excellent job. I picked up quite a few tips for taking pictures at the beach and during sunrise and sunset.
I went back later in the day to purchase a polarizing filter. Bob, one of the owners took the time to explain how to properly use the filter and even took me outside the store to show me how it is used. He then proceeded to show me how to use my camera on the "P" (Nikon D7100) mode and how to make adjustments using the aperture, shutter speed and ISO settings.
I will definitely become a regular customer.

I went there to get my passport photo taken,the person who took it was friendly, I have not heard back yet if my passport application was accepted, I will follow up after.

We are certainly convinced that if we or anyone else who is technically challenged when it comes to your photographic needs, BCC is the place to go.We were greeted by Bob who gave generously of his time and explained everything we wanted to know.
I have owned this particular camera for years and never could follow the directions to get the capabilities of the piece.
Bob fixed that problem with great patience.Believe me as one who knows, you could never get this kind of support over the phone or at one of the giant photo places in NYC.

This longtime establishment is a gem among the shops in Westwood. They have years of experience with their products, have some of the most helpful staff I have ever seen in any store, and have a wide selection of products with competitive prices. I obtained my first Mirrorles Camera from here and they went above and beyond with the service. I have also been to a few of their focus sessions, which are always an interesting look into some aspect of photography. I would highly recommend shopping here.

Great service! Even if the price is a bit more, they totally make up for it in service. They will sit with you for as long as it takes to find the right camera, and they will spend even more time making sure you know how to use it. If you aren't happy with the quality of your photos, they will look them over and suggest tweaks to the camera settings. I would never buy anywhere else.

Beautiful store! Very nice displays with a huge variety of cameras and equipment for any level of photo/videography. The staff is also very friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. Highly recommend store!

I recently visited this incredible location, where I bought a beautiful Sony camera with all the lenses I needed, camera case and anything else that was needed to be set for photographic endeavors. I originally thought that I could get the best deal online with the usual websites and online retailers. Let me tell you, there is no personal service and attention with online retailers. Instead I called this esteemed establishment, got Bob Garamegna, one of the owners on the phone, who was recommended to me. He spent quite a bit of time reassuring me that he could help me to make the right choices. I drove almost 50 miles to Bergen County Camera and met with Bob. Here s a man who clearly understands customer care, and attention to giving the customer exactly what is needed. Bob spent 1.5 hours with me just on explaining to me the ins and outs of the camera, and not once did he try to upsell me, but rather, taught me everything I needed to know about my new equipment. I wish I could give Bob and his business an infinity on star rating! He not only matched the price of any online retailers, but beat them! Customer service is not available with any online retailer, instead Bob was careful to go through every feature on my camera. I got equipment and a 1.5 hour class on how to make the best of what I was buying. Bergen County Camera was recommended to me by a friend, who got it from another friend .this is how you do business. Bob, you re an ace of a guy! Love your store and everyone in it. We were treated like old friends and VIP s, just call and see for yourself. Thank you.

I've had excellent service at both stores. The staff has ALWAYS been knowledgeable and most patient with me. Every time I need to visit, whether for a purchase or for help, it is a very satisfying experience!

They are good people fair prices educated but B&H gives better prices on trade in equipments

Excellent camera store that is more accessible than those in NY. Very comprehensive inventory of camera and lenses and the staff is very professional and knowledgeable. Plenty of street parking is available and if you are visiting, Westwood is a nice town to walk around in and grab a bite to eat.

Hands down the BEST place to go for any camera/photo needs! All of the salespeople are extremely knowledgable and helpful. For the shortest wait times, try to avoid Saturday, but even on a busy Saturday, they will not rush you and will provide the same level of service as on a slow Wednesday afternoon.

Their classes are top notch as well. I will never go any place else for my camera needs.

If you own a camera and live anywhere in Bergen County you have to visit Bergen County Camera, great people, everything you will ever need for your camera, reasonable prices, and classes to improve your photography. Its the one stop shop for any photographer.

I brought a photo in the Westwood location to be restored and framed.
I was told it would take 2 weeks ,it would be $80 to restore the photo plus the cost of
framing.well, after many calls i just picked up the photo today,the 4th week at a cost of $149 plus no frame.very unprofessional.I WILL NOT BE GOING BACK!

Bob helped me determine that my old hand me down camera was not working well and helped me find the exact right fix for me! Super helpful, very informative, and very patient as i am still learning! Will definitely be going back soon!

Bergen County Camera have provided the best experiences I've ever dealt with when it comes to cameras. Cameras are their passion, not just their profession. The store has a huge selection with competitive prices and the staff will spend as much time as you need to make sure you are selecting the appropriate item or have questions on how to use any equipment. They've never tried to upsell us and in fact often suggest that lower price items might be the choice.

The have free seminars most Saturday mornings that are always standing room only as well as photography related mini trips.

Super helpful staff. They are very knowledgeable unlike a best buy. You buy a high end camera you want to have expert help in making the right purchase for your needs and thats what you get here.

They also host free classes and help you one on one with questions. They also have a large selection of DSLRs and mirrorless cameras. And all the accessories you could need.

Incredibly helpful, friendly, and most importantly, knowledgeable staff! They also offer a great program that allows you to rent unique or expensive specialty lenses and then allow you to that rental fee over to the purchase of the lens is you liked it!

Do not shop here. They screwed up my time-sensitive order, did not apologize for their mistake, and then wanted me to pay extra for them to fix it!! They did not apologize or take any responsibility. When I called to see if my order was ready, the response was "I don't know." How much will my order cost? "I don't know". They are extremely expensive and the quality is not there. They cater to people with expensive cameras. They have no customer service! Go somewhere else, please.

Alan Schwab was very informative and went out if his way comparing different high end cameras Soni could get a firm grasp of the benefits of the canon I was interested in. He never pressured me and let me handle any camera he had, they also do loaners if you want to try one out but only to people who live in Bergen county, which info not.

I went to Bergen County Camera to get help with my sigma lens - I had focusing and other issues with it. Despite the fact that the lens was not purchased there, they were extremely courteous and helpful. After Paul (he was so helpful) determined it would need to be sent in (not a simple screw tightening, as I had hoped) Debbie at repairs was so helpful and even followed up with me on things I was missing to send it in. I don't think I will buy from anywhere else in the future! Thanks again!

She was able to assess my needs and offer multiple suggestions and find me a Used product in EXCELLENT condition for a GREAT price. Impressive selection and a great atmosphere. I am a videographer working in entertainment and would highly recommend this store to anyone just getting into photography to professionals looking to find a great deal on equipment while working with a competent, engaging team. I received exactly what I expected, quickly. Jerome was extremely helpful in helping me decide which lens I wanted, when he conveyed some of the differences over the phone between two different samples.

I am so glad I found this place! The personnel were wonderful and very knowledgeable! Even though I'm a novice photographer, they treated me with the same respect they treat the professional shutterbugs with! I was worried about a large repair bill before Christmas but they serviced my Canon 7D in house and charged me so little I almost feel guilty for taking advantage of them. They were very busy but got to me quickly and efficiently. They didn't try to hard sell me anything and were very generous with their time and expertise. I will never go anyplace else again and I strongly recommend Bergen County Camera for all your camera needs. I dealt with the amazing Bob and his wonderful sidekick Harold but everyone there seemed to be top notch and able to help. No matter what you need, you can't go wrong with Bergen County Camera!

New to photography and have gone there a couple of times they have inexpensive to very expensive equipment. They have all sorts of accessories in stock as well as camera bags tripods camera hoods. Seems like anything you can think of. The salesmen I have dealt with were knowledgeable and knew exactly what I was talking about. Without using the correct terminology. You get a coupon if you sign up to their mailing list. I will use them again for future purchases

BCC is a class act, and one of the best. I dealt with them for many years, and always with Bob Gremagna, one of the two owners (this is not to say their other staff is not worthy!). I don't even know where to start when it comes to this store.

Trade-ins, consignment, purchases- all first rate.

Bob sold me my first Nikon D1, with a bunch of Nikon F4 35mm and Bronica 2 1/4" gear in trade, then a D1X, with the D1 in trade. He took all my old Beseler darkroom equipment on consignment, and I was very happy with what I got for it. I knew what the stuff was worth, and never felt cheated.

Heck, I bought an old, beat up Nikkormat EL from them for my collection. It worked great! There's almost to much to recall.

When I needed a small point and shoot digital camera, Bob knew much better than I did, and pulled out this Olympus model that I first thought was too big, yet it fit in my pocket. It had pro features, and Bob said, "I know what you need, Lou". He was right! That camera, even at "only" 5.5 mega pixels remains in use to this day! That's got to be 8 years! Whoa!! I love that Olympus, Bob!

Now that I live in Florida, I will miss my visits to BCC, but I can assure you that they remain every bit the class act that they always will be.
