This was the strangest,intensely close-knit and socially formidable but absolutely unforgettable college I will probably ever attend. I came from a small town in New Mexico at the tragically tender age of 19, and was totally out of my element.Brilliant students and teachers, trust- fund punks and upper-class misfits, weirdos and whinos and painters, potters and poets, all drawn together in ritual debauachery in search of an opening in the cracks of their own futures to shoot through.I loved it and hated it, but because of it, I now know the possibilities that are becoming, and the ones which already are, and ones which will never be. Bennington College was real, but the reality creeping under the misty hills after midnight can never be seen, just glimpsed at.I regret only my youth and vulnerability, but not the chance to witness and experience this rare place.Thank you, Bennington, it was not all bad.
