Great variety of animals. Built on an incredibly steep hill, no good for the elderly, pushchairs, small children etc, they should build a chairlift to the top then people could work their way down, and if they could restore the Floral Hall while there at it that would be great, maybe an EU grant ? Oh yeah....

Only in Northern Ireland would you find a zoo that closes mid afternoon. 2:30 latest admission. Absolutely stupid.
Can t fault the staff. They are pretty understanding so I guess I m not the first person to be frustrated arriving at 2:45
Profits before people I guess.

Meh

Zoo is constructed around animals instead of exhibiting them for our entertainment. Animals are placed in a habitat emulating their own and there is a huge variety to observe. It is tedious to get around but I guess that's the trade-off.

The zoo has some lovely walks, nice animal enclosures (where the animal are obviously well looked after, and have plenty of room too move), good parking, good places to eat and a decent souvenir shop. The downsides to this zoo is the obvious steep paths to walk up, but these are things that aren't normally am issue, but they are when you're getting swamped by wasps every time you stop. This was the big let down to Belfast zoo, especially as they say they do things to control the pesky buggers, but yet they're at you when you stop, at the top of the hill restaurant or even at the penguins. That being said, the play park they have there is top quality, and it's so easy to get to Belfast zoo, and it's a decent price.

Great Zoo I went with my wife and 3 kids. All enjoyed it. Took away a star as the customer service in the eating area was poor enough and also they advertise kids meals but could not offer it and there drinks machine was broken. The only More

Been to this zoo a few times now over the past number of years and has always been good however visited on Sunday with my kids and was very disappointed. Very few animals, no bears no lions or tigers or gorillas. Many pens sitting empty and derelict. My 5 year old even said he was bored. Belfast council need to put money back into this place. Give 2 star as good walk and animals there are well looked after and good play park.

With my kids being big David Attenborough fans for them to see wild animals up close is a amazing thing. They loved to hear how the zoo helped rescue and help the animals recover after having some horrible starts in life.

We visit Belfast Zoo every year and my son enjoys it. He wouldn't have the opportunity to see these animals in real life otherwise and I believe all the animals are well looked after. The facilities are all excellent and staff always very helpful.

You definitely need your walking shoes if you want to see all the animals, it makes it quit difficult for smaller children. Luckily there's lots of places to stop and sit for a break We didn't get to see 70% of the animals because you just can't see or find them. Won't be back soon. It's just not worth it.

Boo

The zoo is always a fun day out for all the family and Belfast Zoo is no exception. There are lots of animals to see and areas to explore. The place is also dotted with lovely wooden animal sculptures.

Belfast Zoo is quite hilly so sensible footwear is essential and if you're pushing a Oran be prepared for quite a workout! The toilet facilities are clean although a bit old and in some areas it's difficult for children to see over the barriers; this is quite frustrating at times and I'd love to see them reduced in height a little.

Despite all of this, the zoo has lots going for it and the well-designed playpark is a firm favourite with my children and is suitable for young children up to young teens.

The sloth inside the rain forest area was a lovely surprise and seeing the tigers being fed was well worth our visit. Being close enough to a male lion to both see and hear him lap water out of his pond was amazing and the general variety of animals was wonderful. We had a picnic in one of the many picnic areas also visited the cafe at the top of the zoo to enjoy the amazing view across Belfast and a fresh cup of tea whilst the children had ice creams.

A great, fun-filled family day out.

We are very disappointed with Belfast ZOO. We went there yesterday for the first time and more than half animals wasn't there.. We only saw giraffes, elephants, lion, snake and wee kangaroos rest cages and places was empty. They should Inform about that when you buying tickets. All cages with a animals in it had windows soo dirty that you barely saw animals. really really disappointing. Whole place looks like no one works there.

It was quiet when we went (beginning of April) and enclosures were shut, as was the tree top cafe. The giraffe and elephant area was great and good chimp area. Good new kids park. A fair price, for a good 4 hours.

Great at the info, staff customer service is wonderful. Unfortunately clendlyness, of both the pathways and animal environments is lacking and bigger animals and primates are seemingly depressed. There is a lot of open space in NI. Maybe consider selling the mountain and building a wildlife park instead of a zoo. That way some of your animals could be in more suitable enclosures.

An enjoyable day out for the family. It's not a massive zoo but there is a good selection of animals and all of them looked happy and well cared for. We were there in the off season so only one cafe towards the entrance was open which was a shame because as parents of a 2.5 year old it would have been nice to grab a quick drink and pit stop half way round but I believe that option is available during the summer months.
