On busy days ie Easter etc you can book online the day BEFORE your visit but not on the day of your visit . If you visit the zoo more than twice a year a zoo membership is worth buying and it also is valid for some zoos in Scotland and England
Great Zoo, even the pouring rain didn't ruin the day. Animals kept in nice enclosures with plenty of space and kept clean.
Loved the zoo especially the new elephant sanctuary idea. But the lion and tiger enclosures need working and some pretty up
Had super day out with family. Impressed with the rainforest!
Great zoo and also a great exercise to see all the animals
Great weather for the long walk up to the zoo but disappointed no tigers, but had a good day.
Nice, but a lot of animals weren t on show. No signs for directions. No shops open.
Loved it and baby giraffe was just born as we arrived and just started walking lovely day out and got amazing weather too well worth the money
The whole experience from start to finish was very good. Lots of parking space, beautiful views, wonderful friendly and helpful staff, very clean zoo....I didnt once see any litter. The map was easy to follow. Saw almost all of the animals and best of all the animals looked content. Park is amazing for the children. Only downside I can find is that the refreshments are too far away from the park. There used to be ice cream vans near the park but now you need to go back to the lower restaurant or shop at entrance. Not very convenient if you are on your own with children and have your seat at the park then need to leave to get refreshments as your space will be taken by the time you get back.
Never saw the majority of the animals they had advertised
Absolutley love Belfast zoo, we took our 1 year old son and he loved seeing all of the animals especially the monkeys
I go every year and every year it's exactly the same. Over priced and not enough animals out in they're enclosures. Disappointing at best.
Have the map, have the photos, know the website, know a wonderful person who works there, and I am dying to go! Please support this zoo, a healing place for Northern Ireland, and help it stay open.
Not too expensive n lots to see... great we day out for the family.. only glitch is there is a lot of hills to walk up
Belfast zoo is wonderful for kids but I personally think they could do with going to tayto castle zoo for some lessons.
I used to go here as a kid and it was really good but i have to say it is awful seeing the condition of the place now and some of the animals look really unhappy. I am sorry to say I will not be going back again while it's like this.
Superb day out with family specially then weather is good
From the minute I entered this zoo I wanted back out as quick the smell was unfit for humans in some parts of the zoo, the animal's looked so unhappy. My heart broke when I seen the condition of the bears I have pictures to prove how poorly these animal's are treated. Its fair to say I will not be back again
We where at the zoo with nursery and it was a great day xx
Excellent value. A wonderful variety of exhibits and the animals seem well looked after. Extreme gradient on the hills so be prepared!
Staff are nice and friendly and there's many animals on show with good visibility
Even with restrictions still a great place to visit
Belfast Zoo will only allow pre-booked ticket entries, they have 2 metres marked on the ground throughout, they have many sanitating stations and they have also implemented a one way system.
All animal exhibition houses have been closed for our safety. The Tree top cafe is open for takeout and they accept contactless.
There is a lot to see! Unfortunately a bit older, food rather average. Carers and staff are very friendly!
Love Belfast zoo! Always a great day out for all the family. Made even better if you get good weather. My son loves all types of animals and enjoyed himself so much. We intend taking him back again soon!
If it's your first time here don't judge it too quickly. The bottom part by the entrance is a bit odd because they have something like a squirrel habitat and it's hard to see. Walk up the hill and you'll see some really great enclosures for the animals.
Visited the zoo on 11th of June 2018 , the animals were very good to watch and most of them were outside so you got a good view of them . We arrived at the top of the zoo where there is a cafe , it was a hot day and as we had been there for More
Was a good day but the price of food and selection was a massive let down
Dont mean 2 offend or put any1 off... but I thought the zoo was very depressing. I love a zoo and if any1 wants 2 see these magnificent animals up close and personal, then this is the only place you'll prob see them. But a lot of the animals look bored stupid. Also a lot of up hill walking... but then again it is built on the side of a mountain lol
I fundamentally disagree with Zoos. Unkind to our fellow animals. It's there though, and the G.kids enjoy. Expensive day out for a young family! Iam lucky, half price for Auld Gits, and G.kid very young. Be fit, as there are many we hills to push the Buggie up.
Great day out for the family lots to see and do but very hilly terrain
Very enjoyable visit. The lady keeper in the monkey house was delightful and really helpful!
On the other hand the restaurant is a rip-off.
Oh my gosh. This has to be one of the best Zoos I've visited. Its amazing. It doesn't have a traditional zoo vibe. But its fabulous won't be disappointed. They really try to replicate the animals natural environment. You see it when you go. One warning is. Its on the side of a mountain. So you do have uphill and down hill walks. But i recommend it. Just don't bring too much heavy stuff. Enjoy. (Because of corona you have to prebook online)
Love belfast zoo little girl loves it food is good to
Good range of animals. Got very close to the giraffes! Good 2 hour visit and there is a lot of uphill but alternative routes and buggy if required. Great zoo. Watch out for the prairie dogs at the end who like to leave their enclosure!
Seeing all the beautiful animals and it was fun ..
We are members of the zoo and absolutely love it. The staff are amazing and show so much respect and love for all the animals in their care.
We love the zoo, the kids love to see the animals and play in the park
Fantastic for the kids. They can see into all the in closures with ease.
A potential commercial goldmine run into the ground by lack of investment. The only thing missing from the pond in the tiger sanctuary is a shopping trolley. The management team need to have a look at other zoos to see potential realised. A car park half full on a Saturday during school holidays illustrates my point perfectly.
Really enjoyable trip. Good landscaping and information.
Really beautiful zoo to spend the day at. The hills don't really cater for wheel chairs though if you are alone.
Great place, windows need cleaning as can't see animals due to grime
Overpriced and unaffordable if being fair for what it is , half the time animals aren't out
Lovely wee zoo but the hedges etc are high meaning that young children or wheelchair users are unable to see into some enclosures properly. Viewing areas may have had to be altered due to one way system currently in place.Good Covid measures in places. Very steep hills would be difficult for those with limited mobility.
Definitely improved from last visit a year or so ago. Zoo is hilly, pushing buggy around it is not for faint hearted!- but a good day out esp. on nice day. Lots of picnic tables dotted around and great playpark for children
Lovely walk and plenty of animals well signposted will go back again
Some of the enclosures are really mixed up, like lots of space for tiny animals and the same amount of space for the big animals.
They could really do with giving the animals more to play with like giving them footballs etc or just something.
A lot of enclosures the animals weren't even out which is to be expected if they're sleeping, but providing cameras and screens even to inside the enclosures would be perfect so the animals aren't disturbed still. The seals really need another rock, fighting over just the one isn't fair. So much could be done to improve this place. The restaurant is RIDICULOUSLY over priced! Really not sure if it was worth the visit. Even the kids weren't impressed.
Beautiful place mind relaxing and the staff give them credit they work very hard to keep the zoo alive
Don't normally visit Zoos, took our grandchild here, all the animals looked well cared for, lots of young animals.
Fantastic family fun, but be prepared for an uphill trek
I wasn't expecting such a great zoo. We had a blast. They have really exciting animals I had never seen before.
We went on a Saturday and there weren't that many people which was great. It was full enough but not too full to bump into people when looking at animals.
We went to as many talks and feeding as possible. All the staff seems to care about the well being of the animals and are happy to answer questions from kids and adults.
Only downside is that it's on a massive hill but the silver lining to that is that you get great views of the city.
Animals and pens kept really well big improvement from a few years ago cafe could be a lot tidier more staff required
The zoo is great during the winter times as there is never a queue for any of the animals. Sadly it needs a bit of a facelift here and there. That being said its a great day out for the children (and adults alike!)
Poor elephant just hitting his head against a pole, sad to see
