Unprofessional Agency

Let me first say that everything I type can be proven by emails, text messages, voice mails, affidavits and other documents. Let me also say that this company has also had many similar complaints within the last 5 years. Racial disparity, housing discrimination, unsanitary conditions, unprofessional staff, harassment, threats and intimidation. First of all I signed a lease with Becovic Management November 30, 2020 through a 3rd party entity (Chicago Housing Authority). From the very beginning Becovic management advertised their apartments as being no: move in fee, security deposit, etc. but 2 weeks after I paid the $75 application fee I was told that I had to pay $450 for the move in fee by (Jenny Drabant). I stated to Jenny at that time that the advertisement on the building said no move in fee, security deposit etc. Jenny then stated that because I was coming in under section 8 the advertisement did not apply to me. I did not argue the point (Discrimination) I paid the fee and other fees and moved in. I was residing in one of Becovic management's buildings in Edgewater Chiicago . Edgewater Chicago is diverse and has a beautiful infrastructure, however the underlying racism exists in a way to control and disrupt the lives of others. I am a straight 64 year old disabled male. Gregarious and respectful to all. Not homophobic, nor am I racist or discriminatory. However, I am very outspoken about being treated unfairly. July 30, 2022 I received an affidavit from Becovic Management stating that they were not renewing my lease. I called the office and spoke with (Cooper Alimorong) asking "why I wasn't given the option to renew my lease"? What he literally stated is "We do not have to legally give you a reason why". (Attitude) According to the Chicago Municipal code landlords, property owners, and other principal parties have to give notice 180 days prior to lease expiration. However, Becovic management failed to realize that Becovic management and myself are also governed by 4 interchangeable contracts dealing with the Chicago housing authority. They are Chicago municipal code, Chicago city ordinance, lease agreement, and the Tenant addendum. According to the Tenant Addendum which supersedes the other 3 just in case there is a misinterpretation of the law : Owners, landlords, property managers, and other principal parties must give the tenant a reason why they are not renewing the lease. Such as remodeling, a relative needs the apartment, criminal activity, etc. However, in their own defense through a complaint I filed in September 2022 through the Chicago Human Relations case 22-H-55 there's a record on file stating on their behalf by their attorneys (we do not legally have to give a reason). Living below the 200% poverty guideline, physically declining, stress and pain and trying to tell Erik Jenkins that I am waiting for the process of the moving papers before moving. According to the lease, if payment of rent is accepted after lease expiration and there is no new lease agreement the rental property automatically goes into a month to month agreement. But on December 16, 2022 Erik Jenkins emailed me and stated that my move out day was near (December 31, 2022) and for me to make preparations to have everything moved from the property. I emailed back and told him that the lease agreement terminated November 30, 2022 and that I am actively trying to find housing, holiday seasons are a stressful time of the year for me. Before I move I will give you a 30 day notice to vacate. He then replied ....you were given notice to move out 4 months ago and if you are not out by the December 31, 2022 you will be charged $100 a day and double the rent. I then replied by reflecting the contract lease and also stating that the latter emails sent to me have been forwarded to housing. He did not respond anymore. I submitted a notice to vacate on December 31, 2022 and moved out January 30, 2023. I'm in a lot of pain from unnecessary and over exert moving. Stressed, relieved, and determined to seek justice. As I stated in the beginning ...any and everything I typed can be proven by emails, text messages, letters, affidavits, and other documents. Sheer racism, racial disparity, racial profiling, housing discrimination. and many other despicable things as well. Thank you for reading. Have a great day.

An Awful Company

They are the worst company to lease with. They will treat you like trash after you sign that lease. And their buildings have roach infestations out of this world. There are a million other leasing companies in Chicago. Dont get trapped into a lease with Becovic. You will regret it.

I went apartment hunting with my mom with a man named Christian. He showed us beautiful apartments but when we asked straight forward questions about the properties and the lease he consistently told us he would have to get back to us. We were confused about why he could not answer basic questions. My mom has back problems and needed to walk at a slower pace and I communicated this to him several times but he consistently walked several hundred feet in front of my Mom. Finally, Christian took us in his car to view apartments and after we were done he dropped us off several blocks away from our car (after I communicated that my mom had trouble getting around). There was something about the company that I could tell was sleezy and and demeaning. I decided to go with a non-Becovic property even though their apartments are very nice. Had Christian been more professional and considerate I certainly would have signed a lease with Becovic.

My building has been through several (nightmare) owners, and since Becovic took ownership, they have been great to work with. Having an online portal to deal with rent and maintenance issues is EXTREMELY useful, and any maintenance request has been dealt with almost immediately by proficient, friendly staff. I literally have zero complaints about Becovic and would recommend them to anyone.

This was my first apartment. I stayed at the 7616 marshfield building for 1 year. Within the first month the ceiling leaked(roof) and ruined the bathroom ceiling and walls. Multiple calls and service requests and nothing. I lived the entire lease with a damaged bathroom. I didnt know what to look for in a rental so i missed the signs of bugs and rodents, both of which made appearances in my unit. I would rather be homeless than rent from this company

If I could give 0 stars, I would. DO NOT sign a lease with these slum lords. You will regret it. Charge up the a** for rent and the building is made of toothpicks. Good luck trying to get maintenance to actually fix your issues, or even getting an email that isn't a cookie cutter response. WORST SERVICE EVER. I have had mice since I moved in that no one addresses and my bathroom ceiling is leaking to the point where I'm concerned it's going to cave in. I can't even get a response. Most unprofessional company I've ever had the displeasure of interacting with.

I moved into a unit of Becovic Management this February. Becovic Management did everything possible to ensure my family and I had a smooth transition. There was a couple of very minor issues, light bulbs/sockets not working...but maintenance was there the very next day and corrected all issues. Very friendly. Nice management company so far we are very happy.

Absolutely horrible management group. Apartment was absolutely infested with roaches. We had exterminators out here four times in three months. When an exterminator says, oh damn and jumps back, you know there s a problem. The management doesn t care a bit about what s going on. They re constantly doing construction. It has been a construction zone since the day we moved in, and will be till the day we move out. Closets that are 2 inches narrower than a hanger, and the other closet installed are incapable of holding hanging clothes because of the spacing. There is no usable storage, and what store is there is is filled with roaches. When we leave here we will have to get rid of most of our furniture. Overpriced, too small, disgusting, and, oh did I mention the elevators were supposed to have been close down on 7 April but are still running. Unsafe! Paint peeling from walls and ceiling. Holes in walls that stay for months. Water dripping from the light fixtures that have lights in them that are on. Random fires in other apartments. Horrible smells. Unfriendly neighbors. Don t move here.

Thank you Becovic for giving me such a nice place to stay. Rent is comparable to the market in the area. Best security buzzer system i have ever seen. Cameras all over the building, smart doors, fob systems, fitness center, laundry room, transportation and shopping are all in a very short walking distance.
I have noticed becovic has a few building in the area and everyother service employee seems to be employed by them. They have onsite maintenance that is extremely friendly. I feel very safe in my building and i am very greatful for the staff that make my stay so comfortable and and pleasant.

It took three weeks for anyone to come and check out the stove and microwave. The stove was leaking gas so I don't want to turn it on and if someone came to check sooner the microwave was locked didn't know you can lock it wow.I would just say thank you to Nate and his happier want a great job they did came back with new stove and hooked it up with no problem. Thank you guys for being so Profesional and kind four stars from me.

I never leave reviews but I have to share my experience with this pushy, Shady, B.S. management company. We Spent 100 dollars on application process, lease was sent to us. Ok great, so now we have questions about fees. Sent an email regarding those questions and we never get a reponse. However, Megan McGovern the director of the leasing department has time to send my roommate and myself multiple emails to sign the lease. So you have time to be pushy about signing the lease but you can't answer important question pertaining to It? What a joke. So, after the 3rd email sent to me about signing, I decided to call and ask questions over the phone. Megan popped an attitude like it was so obvious what I was asking. And than ask for the last time, "do you want the apartment or not cuz other people want it". I rather sleep in a tent then deal with these unprofessional, pushy, slum lords! So happy we wasted 100 bucks to see this company's true colors!

Mary and Kevin are extremely rude. My mother was told that i would be able to do a 9 month lease via Lisa who had told me that was not possible. When my mom called Mary to check with her to check after me, after I had called her and she told me it was not, she yelled at her saying "Why would Lisa tell you that? We don't do that!", as though my mother were lying. When she asked to speak with her boss, Kevin, he was also very rude to her. It was only until he found out we knew details about the owner of the company that he began to change. Very disappointed in the horrible service this company provides.

I've lived in New York, San Francisco and Chicago, and have learned many leasing offices treat tenants as a rent check. That hasn't been my experience with Becovic. Firstly, they did what they could to ensure I felt safe while viewing apartments, encouraging the use of masks and wearing masks themselves. Secondly, when I realized a mistake I made when applying for the apartment, they worked with me to correct it instead of leaving me hanging. Their empathy has brought me so much peace of mind, and it's a stark contrast to many other companies I've rented from.

I had many issues while living at a Becovic managed residence. After moving in my washer would flood the apartment. It took 2 months to get fixed and they refused to offer fair compensation. The problem was a block of LEAD clogging the pipe. I also had leaks from the ceiling and floor that also took weeks to get fixed. Most attempts to contact them were met with an answering machine that you would never get a response from. While the people who you do eventually get in contact with are nice, they are far from helpful. At the end of my stay I had a package stolen, and despite having cameras everywhere, they did nothing to assist in finding who did it. Avoid at all costs.

Some of these 1 star reviews are ridiculous. An entire company doesn't magically become terrible just because of your frustration with minor inconveniences. Becovic is the first management company I've used since my move to Chicago, and they've made everything run SEAMLESSLY. As opposed to other landlords or rental companies, Becovic has a beautifully designed website that's incredibly easy to navigate. They offer a renter's online portal which eliminates the hassle of paying rent via mail or in-person via cash or check. I had several questions at the beginning of my lease, and I was always able to reach someone over the phone. If the person I wanted wasn't available, someone else would help. I specifically worked with Meagan McGovern who, along with having one of the most upbeat personalities ever, made sure all discounts and promotions available were offered to me - which helped incredibly with my moving costs as I was coming to a bigger city from out of state. I never felt like anything was being hidden from me or like I was being taken advantage of by a large company - everything was transparent and friendly. Also, the apartments are gorgeous. Overall, Becovic gets an A+.

This is, without a doubt, the most comically incompetent management company in Chicago. It s been two weeks since I moved in and two weeks with a broken AC system.

I spoke with Ryan over the phone. Ryan is not good at his job. In fact, he s bad at it. My takeaway was that Ryan has made the decision to direct his frustration with life into being intentionally useless and rude to those who call in. That being said, I wish the best for Ryan. We all have bad days. I do, however, have a lingering sense that he only has bad days, like my AC.

It s August in Chicago. If I die of heat stroke, I want my tombstone to read Ryan was unhelpful.

Whatever you need and or want in reference to your apartment Becovic Management Group ensures that you get it. If an apartment issue occurs Becovic takes care of it and or fixes it in a timely manner.

The maintenance guys are very professional, personable, friendly and excellent in the work that is serviced.

If ever I move from my present resident, I will Definitely make sure I move to another one of their properties. Becovic Management Group takes care of their tenants and that is very rare.

I will start by saying, this review is for the wonderful maintenance team that are responsive, genuine, kind, and hard working. If I was to rate my experience with my move in, the leasing agents, leasing management, their process that includes a severe lack of communication ? I would rate it 1 star at best. What makes this a 5 star review is how incredible Nate who leads the team for anything you need for your apartment, his staff - especially Bekan. Nate completely revamped my opinion and my initial regret for signing a lease with Becovic Management. He responds to you and makes you feel like no issue it too small and never makes you feel like you are not human. He keeps his promises, follows through, and even checks in after the fact. The apartment and building itself is well kept, beautifully designed, modern, and a great location. If you can put up with the lack of communication and professionalism from their leasing agents - specifically Victor - and intermittent communication from the leasing manager, I highly recommend getting through that frustration, because it becomes worth it once you move in. Nate and his team will take care of you! And you will love your new home.....

He was referred to me by a friend, and I would be happy to do so for my own friends should they ever need help finding a new apartment. I've lived in the Greenview Building (7450 N Greenview) since August, and everything has been a complete joke from the day I moved in. The built-in shelving in the closet collapsed on me within 2 days of moving in. I filed a maintenance request through the portal and someone was sent to fix it - collapsed again a few days later. It was fixed again, and collapsed again. Finally two men were sent to look at it and they completely ripped out the shelving, went out to buy new materials, and then built a new shelving unit. It has been steady for a few months now, so this was finally resolved.

The walls in this building are an absolute JOKE. If you try to hang anything on the walls, it falls almost instantly. These walls won't hold anything thicker or more sturdy than a tiny nail. Also, the kitchen has been infested with roaches from the day I arrived. I've set traps and used sprays. They seem to be more under control, but not completely gone - its been 5 months.

The heater in my bathroom spontaneously turns on, even though it's in the off position. I don't keep anything near the heater, so its not an immediate issue (fire concern), but I'm paying for the electric heat. If I don't want it on, I shouldn't be paying for it! I submitted a request to have someone come repair the faulty heater. A time was set for the man to come repair it - he never showed. Then the office sends me a survey to ask how well the repair went. Are you freaking kidding me?! NO ONE SHOWED UP! That was weeks ago and the heater is still ghosting every once in a while. Thanks, Becovic.

In addition to all these things, my biggest complaint is about the elevator - or lack thereof. When I moved in, the elevator would break down maybe once a week. Now, 5 months later, its up to a daily break down. I have submitted countless maintenance requests and emailed Becovic to get this resolved. All I've gotten back is their generic "we've received your request and will schedule a time for someone to come repair it" response. Nothing has been done. This has been going on for months now. My attempts to contact their office are now being completely ignored. Had I known this was going to be a walk-up building when I went to see the unit prior to signing a lease, I would not have moved in. I have a 50lb dog with a chronic condition that doesn't allow him to exercise at all, stairs included. I'm unable to carry him up and down 4 flights of stairs 4-5 times a day to go outside. There's also a woman that is wheelchair-bound who lives in our building. Not sure how they can honestly ignore the elevator issue when one resident can't even get to her apartment. So much for caring about the tenants, right? The elevator shut down completely earlier today, and this poor woman was sitting in the lobby for well over an hour with her groceries because she was unable to get to her apartment. SHAME ON YOU, BECOVIC MANAGEMENT!

There isn't enough time in the world to explain how truly horrible this company is. They're nothing but a scam. Its so easy to communicate when you're selecting an apartment and signing the lease. After that, you're ignored. Avoid this company like the plague. I'm currently in the process of filing a complaint with the BBB as well as the Department of Housing. I'm done being ignored and getting extremely subpar service from this useless "management" company.

I am shocked at how terrible this company is and their lack of regard for their tenants. I lived in a Becovic Building for just under a year and I will never again make that mistake again.

My car was towed from the building unlawfully twice. My kitchen drain backed up and overflowed on to the kitchen floor. My bathroom leaked water from the ceiling and they refused to fix it.. The maintenance guys were rude. I had to leave because of the water situation in my bathroom and now they are trying to collect the last months rent despite the fact that the bathroom ceiling is moldy and swaths of water dripping on you .

Hopefully know one else makes the mistake of living in this building. Also if you are crazy enough to live there look for all their hidden fees.

My experience with Becovic Management has been nothing short of spectacular. It has now been almost a year since moving into one of their properties and I have not a single complaint.

A huge thanks to Nate and Aldijana for being so friendly and accommodating, it made my first time having an apartment very pleasant.

I have been with Becovic for years, and during this Covid crisis, let me just say that they truly care about their renters. I cannot even begin to thank them enough!! Jessica is an absolute angel, and the whole team has really come together on this!! I was about to have a heart attack about rent, but they were so kind, and helpful on how to get through this situation and work it out and have gone above and beyond (as they always do). To everyone, especially now during this crisis, it's not even about the apartments, or quality, it's about service & care when it really counts, and to the whole Becovic team, I just want to thank you from the bottom of my heart and as always, I will always recommend them to everyone and anyone!

My most recent experience involved a personal issue I was trying to get in front of to avoid some upcoming issues. Please do not rent from them. They are so rude. Some guy call Kenny in that office is so rude. All they care abt is money. I was moving out off the city so I went to the office to ask them if they can help me cancel my lease. The gave me two options. #1 find someone to rent it. #two pay 3 months rent. So I told them I will go home and think abt it. The next day they went to my room removed everything that I own in the room. Meanwhile I payed my rent. They didn't even call to ask me anything. When I call them they told me oh you said you moved that was why we went and trash your stuff. I didn't give them a key or sign anything with them and they just went and trash my stuff. So I later told my sister to go stay in the room till my lease end. Now my lease ended they sent me email that the room was not clean when my sister moved so I should pay $330. Wow what a company.

Becovic was fine when we first started renting from them, but over the 2 years we lived in The Kenmore, quality slipped, and everyone seems to be moving out because management ignores the complaints.
We had mice, and were told by staff that they couldn't get rid of them because my next door neighbor was too dirty. The elevator breaks down weekly, and at least one machine in the laundry room is malfunctioning at all times. They lied on the apartment listing when I first signed my lease and said there would be a rooftop patio and vending. There is no patio, but there is an out of order vending machine that has never had anything in it. Security was the biggest issue here. There's a resident who gives extra keys to some unsavory friends, and the cops are called on them frequently for fighting and causing disturbances. Packages constantly get stolen, and for some reason they removed the door on the bike garage, so that is also not secure. Sometimes the building staff will prop the exterior doors open, so strangers wander into the stairwell and stay. It's scary, but they do this no matter how much everyone complains.
Rent is reasonable, but does go up significantly on year 2. Though their units are rehabbed, they're done so VERY cheaply and the floors started bubbling up within a couple months.
Overall, the only good part of the experience was when we initially signed and moved in. Everything from there was downhill.

I would give them zero stars, but not everyone at this company is as dumb as Patrick the star off of spongebob. Seriously, please don't rent from this company. If you are moving to Chicago please read this carefully. Don't trust anyone. Figure out how much the prices of apartments around where you wanna live are, because if you don't, "they" will take advantage of you... trust me. And this advice should be applied to every situation while living in chicago. To summarize everything, there are worse landlords out there. And to everyone at becovic, I like a few of you and you guys are the only reason I gave them a 2 and you know who you are because you actually care about the tenants in your buildings.

Stayed in a Becovic building for 4 years. The apartment was good for the price at first, but the price kept going up. There were frequent elevator outages, which was annoying in a five-story building. The maintenance staff was always very responsive to problems in the unit though.

Meagan is the worst. Condescending, snobby, inconsiderate, nasty woman. She doesn't care about customer satisfaction. She doesn't communicate changes. She doesn't give a damn about residents. She's a rude cesspool, wasting the air and space she occupies. If you're reading this, there are real reasons Becovic is rated so poorly--she's part of the problem. The property has also been caught writing fake five star reviews to boost their score. It's a sad mess of management, not deserving of your business.

I was also lied to about my lease. I was assured that if I signed the lease for the 1st of the month, they would change it to the 15th, but that I really should sign just to lock the apartment down. The next day I can't get in contact with Lisa because she has left for vacation and am told conflicting things about the status of the lease date. Several days later Mary informs me that the lease can not be changed. NEVER heard back from Lisa regarding any of this. No email response, nothing. I was out a good deal of money because of this little stunt they pulled. Been here a few months now and our kitchen and closet have flooded. Maintenance was responsive and cordial. Do not trust or depend on management, they do not care about you or your experience with them.

I had to write a review about my overall experience. Becovic feels more like family. I recently experienced a change in my household and desired to transfer apartments at the end of my lease. Jenny and Meagan in the leasing department were super helpful. Jenny is a straight shooter who knows her stuff. She pointed me in the direction of a great unit that was a good fit. Meagan was very sweet and super responsive.
I CANNOT say enough about Nate who is the maintenance manager. He goes above and beyond to handle so many requests and treats everyone fairly. I try not to bother him with trivial matters... but whenever I have asked something he responds in a timely manner and has unbelievable patience. Him and his wife who assists him are two of the kindest people I have ever worked with when dealing with a reality company. They extend themselves even when they don t have to and I feel more comfortable knowing they are around.

There is a guy in the office, I think his name is Victor, He is very nice, very professional, he is a "people" person.!!! We like dealing with him, he makes you feel like he cares.
All the properties are very well kept up. We are planning on staying with Becovic Properties for Life.

I would suggest anyone looking to rent an apartment to rent from Becovic Management. The two units I lived in were remolded with all the bells and whistles. The staff in the office are so kind and caring. They really do care for all of your needs.

Update August 2018:
The perceived "upgrades" to the building have apparently been a scheme to make quick money without caring about current tenants. The garage entrance is now alley-only, which has caused my boyfriend to be late for work 3 times this month. The front entrance was gated off, and they turned the driveway into 2 TINY parking spots, because the building maintenance specifically said "I'm sick of getting rid of the snow." They then added 5 AirBnB units, which is specifically stated in our lease that we cannot do. I have the lucky unit that has AirBnB units on either side of me. The building security is compromised, considering every tenant goes through a full background check and AirBnB renters do not. With all of this going on, we have not received any notifications from Becovic about any of these changes, which is terribly disheartening.

My boyfriend and I just resigned our lease for a 2nd year and so far we are very happy here! The building managers live in the building too, so they do a great job keeping it clean and safe. We're very grateful they're so dog-friendly! Plus, they've been making upgrades to our building this summer, so we feel great knowing the money is actually going back into property.

I would highly recommend any of my clients looking for apartments to seriously consider a Becovic apartment. The updates in the units as well as the amenities are fantastic. The office staff is really responsive. Being a broker, I have contacted a number of management companies and Becovic is one of the ones really responsive. I find it actually amazing with the amount of apartments they manage between maintenance and leasing that I can literally get my clients an answer on their application submission almost that very same day. Meagan in particular has always been very responsive in answering any questions and/or getting timely responses for applications. Keep up the good work guys!

EDIT: the maintenance manager at 6029 N Winthrop is truly so helpful. Despite overall management flaws with Becovic, he really cares about the well being of the tenants at his property and will go above and beyond for them. Also, Nate with Becovic has been very helpful with recent issues that have come up.

ORIGINAL: The absolute worst management company I have ever dealt with. It is impossible to speak with anyone on the phone because they never pick up. You can leave a message, but your call will never be returned, and your concern will never be addressed.

The first day we moved in, our bathroom ceiling was raining water and the floor completely flooded. We were told the person upstairs was just mopping. It wasn t until I went and found the maintenance manager myself and brought him to my apartment that the issue was addressed.

The apartments are so cheaply made, you can hear everything through the ceilings, walls, even the floors. The appliances barely work and any update they advertise was basically slapped together in a week.

I wish someone had screamed at me to run the other direction before I signed my lease.

We were lucky to have such a good company to help us!
Not only were they a big help, the apartment we found through them, more that exceeded our expectations.

Having been a tenant of theirs, Becovic has been the worst management company I have had the misfortune of renting from. From water damage to cockroach infestations, Becovic has done little to nothing to fix these issues. The apartment unit is infested with cockroaches in every room, including the bedrooms as well which creates an absolutely unhygienic living space for everyone.

I have requested that something be done about this but the situation has not changed at all. Not to mention the abhorrent residents that live in the building where frequent bouts of child abuse occur on a daily basis despite having complained about it to Becovic on numerous occasions (DCFS was called in as well). Becovic's maintenance line is terrible as well, it's practically impossible to get a hold of anyone besides leasing when you call in.

If you take anything away from this review, do your due diligence and go elsewhere.

I lived in Becovic Apt in their Park Terrace property for three years.
The property was acquired by Becovic two years ago, so I will describe
their management in the past two years. I will try to be as objective
as possible citing pros and cons.

Pros:
- Fast reply for in-apartment problems. Fixed AC within 24 hours.
- They care about the look of the building (to impress new tenants), freshly painted corridors.
- Provided a terrace with a BBQ area
- Gated parking
- Fitness room

Cons:
As any capitalist company, they try to minimize cost as much as possible:
- No AC or any type of ventilation in fitness room against all city code, not even a fan
- Expensive, they hiked the rent when they acquired the building
- All four elevator are not certified by the city of Chicago. They broke a lot : they halt and many tenants got trapped and called 911. Of course it is expensive to fix them, so they pass on that.
- They are greedy, charge 100$ for parking space, previous owner included the parking in the rent. Also, they charge a lot of rip-off charges : 50$ for fab key that actually cost less than 5$. They also distribute crappy parking remotes that brake a lot and charge 50$ for each key that actually cost 5$.

RENTERS BEWARE: I had the displeasure of applying ($75.00) per applicant for an apartment lease with this unscrupulous and unethical Management group. To my misfortune, I found this neo landlord on Craigslist. Their advertising is deceptive and misleading and clearly states: "Rebuild your credit with on time payments." Well, they succeeded in baiting me, as a credit-score-challenged applicant, with the aforementioned *Bullet point. However, I was not switched, but I was swindled out of my $75 Bucks. Before dishing out 6 Bits, I specifically disclosed to Victor my credit score and income. Victor encouraged me to apply and did not profess any objections to my marginal credit score. Mind you, had Victor been forthright and acted with candor, I would not have wasted my time and money. Are you that hard-up for revenue that you'd use usurious application fees to fund their net operating income??

Becovic Management consistently fails to consider their tenants. When I first moved into the apartment at 7726 N Ashland Chicago, IL 60626 my bike was stolen off of my porch, Becovic could of cared less. They said it was not their problem and that the cameras that they originially told us were working in the back were never recording at all, REAL SAFE... thanks Beocvic. Their emergency line to call and be let into your apartment if you lock yourself out is disrespectful and unprofessional. I called twice one night to be let into my place and when I called the second time I was told that the order was never put in so I was never let into my place, thankfully I had my dog with me in the car because Becovic could care less. Yet, I was still charged the $25.00 even though I had to find someone on property myself to let me into my apartment. The locks were updated at our building but instead of sending out a mass email or newsletter no one was made aware until you were unable to enter your own building and had to wait for the maintenance man to be called, which from my previous story I am sure you can conclude was not an easy task. Last but not least, they include internet, wow what a great perk if it actually worked and do not even try calling to get it fixed because again their emergency line for problems never sends anyone to check it out. I would not suggest leasing an apartment with Becovic, especially at 7726 N Ashland. It is a very dangerous neighborhood and although the apartment building is beautiful having to deal with the lack of communiation and lack of regard for their tenants is not worth an updated kitchen and new paint.

I've lived at a Becovic property for several years now and must say, I've enjoyed it. I've lived at 2 different buildings and the apartments are top notch. I recently had a slight problem w/my refrigerator and the service manager, Nate, really listened to my problem, he felt compassion for my inconvenience and always updated me with any information. I really appreciated "being heard" and not just pushed along through the system. Stellar apartments and stellar management service - a definite recommend.

I've been renting from Becovic since 2015 and have lived in two of their buildings. They've got properties all over the far north side and do a very good job of keeping them clean. When things do go wrong it's easy to submit and track work orders through their online app. Meagan was very helpful in helping me transfer to another property last year and the rest of the team is always so friendly. I ve been with Becovic mngmt since summer 2017 and coming from a small town to Chicago for my first post grad school job - I had NO idea what to do, but they made it all so super easy. I rented from their Rogers Park and Logan Square properties. The spaces were both really gorgeous and well kept.

Sad to go but new job opportunity opened up out of Chicago (gotta go where the new adventure flows). I m grateful to have found Becovic. Anyone looking for a safe, clean, easy, and genuinely really kind people who work throughout the management look no further.

I have called 3 days in a row leaving messages and have sent emails to try and work through a crisis involving the rental agreement and current covid conditions. I have not recieved any response whatsoever.

Called to verify residency on a previous tenant. First call got transferred to a full voicemail. Called back got transferred to another voicemail. Called a third time , the girl that answered the phone the previous two times didn t even answer the call got transferred again. Then I called using a different phone, and she answers what a surprise. You can tell they re using caller Id to monitor calls . This time I started to complain , I didn t even finish and she told me to hang on she ll transfer me. Finally after a 5 minute wait a guy with an accent answers and I start talking and he hangs up My applicant warned me this management company is horrible. I can only imagine how they treat their tenants. Extremely unprofessional! .

Becovic DOES NOT CARE about their tenants as human beings. They only see dollar signs. The Covid 19 crises has shown this first hand.

I lived with Becovic for two years. I never once made a late payment, never once had any complaints from neighbors, and always respected the property.

I recently became unemployed indefinitely due to the national shutdown caused by the current worldwide pandemic. I knew that I would not be able to afford the last month of rent on my lease because of this, so I informed Becovic that I would be surrendering the unit a month early in hopes that they would agree to waive the final rent payment. Considering that Becovic is receiving financial support from the CARES Act and through SBA 7(a), I thought that they would have the flexibility to come to a mutual agreement and allow me to surrender the unit early without being forced to pay for the empty unit.

My request was initially declined. I was instead offered the option of a payment plan for the final month, despite the fact that I would not be occupying the unit. I responded by expressing my displeasure, siting that Becovic is essentially attempting to collect double payment for the unit from both myself and through financial support through federal aid (see the CARES Act and SBA 7(a). The person I was exchanging emails with agreed to allow me to surrender the unit early and requested that I provided a signed "Turnover of Possession and Release of Liability", while also using very vague and ambiguous language in regards to the final month of payment. I returned the signed form, and the person I was corresponding said thank you, with no mention of what to expect about the final rent payment.

Nearly 3 weeks after surrendering the unit, I received a payment request with threats to send the debt to collections if it is not paid within 10 days.

Keep in mind that throughout this entire process, Becovic's offices have been closed and I have been unable to get in contact with anyone through any method other than email. They are essentially telling me that they don't care, it is not their problem, and they are giving me the run around.

During a time of international crises, when the world needs people to be compassionate and lift each other up more than ever, Becovic has proven to me that they operate on a culture of greed, zero compassion and empathy, and a complete disregard for their tenants as human beings. The level of greed that they have shown is a complete disgrace, and I would recommend to anyone interested to avoid renting with them at all costs.

Moving from out of state into an apt via video chat is nerve wrecking but the team at Becovic was great and we couldn't be more happier with the apt, the building, maintenance, and overall business we have with Becovic. Since the move in they have updated the communal laundry room, set up a secure location for packages, the in- building management team is phenomenal. Keeping the building clean. The line of communication has been great.

They don t care about their tenants at all. Good luck reaching someone competent in this office. I lived at their 5534 north kenmore location for a year and they had rats in the garage and boiler room running around and they had pidgeons living in the garage and boiler too. The maintenance family at that location tosses old bread out to feed the pests. Not to mention they are rude. The red head lady just stares at you angrily for no reason. NOT WORTH YOUR MONEY! If I could give no stars I would.
